  1. The My Arcade Namco and Data East cabinets based on FC/NES games look cool, but I read somewhere that a couple of them have input lag and Galaga has sound issues. I also have the actual carts for most of these games (even the JP only namco FC ones like Dig Dug, Mappy, and Galaxian).
  2. The ebivision Pac-Man got hacked into Hack 'Em and Ms. Hack 'Em, so in a way, the code was reused.
  3. MGA and Excalibur did use Nintendo's technology under license for those color Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Frogger handhelds and tabletops, but they aren't as well made. There's also that space invaders head to head "color" LCD game that was licensed to Radio Shack and Excalibur. The packaging had small text that said the technology was licensed by Nintendo. I actually have that Snoopy game, but in the Tabletop version, which is the same game. I prefer the tabletops since the batteries last longer, but the DK Jr. panoramic handheld I have is neat.
  4. The switch controller is perfect for game and watch style games. I liked the 3DS games and the GB, GBC, GBA, and DS collections. There were some licensed keychain handhelds of a few of the games for awhile. I also have a few of the actual handhelds and table tops. DK handheld is good stuff and a prefer it over Coleco's VFD version.
  5. Ms. Pac-Man non-Walmart and Tetris are both segmented LCD. Not sure if it was mentioned before, but that version of Frogger on the Walmart joystick was in a Majesco plug and play and on the VG Pocket Tablet. It's a port based on NOAC hardware. The older version has music closer to the original, but the music was changed in the later versions due to using music from various anime like rascal the racoon. It's also why most newer ports have different music, though I prefer the music in the GBA Arcade Advance Frogger and the Basic Fun Frogger to the music in the Super Impulse Tiny Arcade Frogger.
  6. Neat! I know it by Pyoro, the name of the version in Wario Ware GBA.
  7. Definitely came out in the US. Power Racer in the US title. JP title is Head-On. Odd thing is that only the JP version has a sega copyright on the title screen, despite the games being nearly identical.
  8. There's also for the Gameboy, which was an official port of Head On in Japan.
  9. Namcot was the name for Namco's home division in Japan. The odd thing is that seems to be the arcade version of the music rather than FC, but the graphics in the video and the "Namcot" are a reference to the Famicom. The characters are dancing on top of Namco Famicom cart.
  10. The gameboy version of Race Drivin' (the sequel) is surprisingly good and it's on inferior hardware to the Lynx.
  11. wow. neat. I didn't even realize there was a color arcade game before Galaxian. Nice fit for 2600 too.
  12. No Arcade counterpart, but I like Diner much better than Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory. I'm tempted to say the Blue Sky Rangers did Burgertime sequels better than Data East, but I haven't played Super Burgertime (the AC one) and the GB Burgertime Deluxe is extremely good.
  13. And you even get to play as her in the sequel!
  14. No, the real reason it was cancelled is because Lobo played it and caused a mess over it. No bad games for "the main man".
  15. Out of curiosity, why is Hang-On II ported from the MSX rather than the SG-1000? As far as I know, they are nearly identical, but is one easier to port?
  16. There was also a quiet update to the first post of the "Latest Harmony Cart Software" thread with the 1.06 bios at the bottom of the post. The date the post was updated (October 2015) is also later than the date listed for the 1.06 beta 2 (Sep 2014).
  17. It has been redone as Meteoroids (Starpath prototype) and Space Rocks, both of which have Asteroid movement closer to the arcade. I would like to see a better version of Star Raiders since the original port wasn't close to the original.
  18. Some of the ROMs of the prototype are labeled as PAL because of the unstable display, but from what I read and tried on Harmony, I'm more under the impression that the game is unstable simply because it's unfinished. When I play on Harmony, colors seem to be correct, but the game flips after the title screen.
  19. The GCC rom has been available for awhile, but it doesn't like real hardware.
  20. I'm not sure if the Gleen the 5200 Man one supports the trackball, but there was another hack of the 5200 version to Atari 800 that definitely supports it. Not sure if there's a hack based off the original 800 version that supports TB, but the 5200 version is better anyway. Here's a post with a 5200 conversion for Atari 800 of Centipede with trackball support.
  21. The problem with the GCC Millipede is that it is unplayable on most US TVs due to screen flipping.
  22. It's crazy how it was once thought it couldn't be done and now there are two complete Atari 2600 homebrew versions of Star Castle, both of which are very impressive.
  23. I tried in Stella and like this quite a bit. I'll try it on Harmony cart later. Scramble on 2600!
  24. That's a huge overstatement. Most games in the series aren't all that hard (and I have beat a few games in the series, including 2 on difficult). Megaman 2 is one of the easier games in the series, even on "difficult". Difficult is the original difficulty and is still fairly easy. Not to mention the comparison timing is off due to one version not using the same difficulty.
  25. Odd how that comparison uses "Normal" for the NES version when the MD version is based off the original RM2 difficulty ("difficult" in US Mega Man 2).
