Will Concerto have it's own website like with the Harmony cart?
-
I'm a little confused at why earlier versions have all levels available and later versions are content locked. I was especially disappointed to see this done with DK2600, which is a fangame of a game owned by Nintendo, but treated like a unique game. I think a demo is a good idea, but I rather have it done from the start and with original games.

The Official Game Boy Thread
BrianC replied to Skippy B. Coyote's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Project S-11 has nice graphics, but I feel the gameplay pales in comparison to b/w GB shmups like Nemesis, Sagaia, Twinbee Da!!, and Gradius Interstellar Assault. Some of my favorites for GB b/w are Bionic Commando, Mega Man IV and V, Final Fantasy Adventure, Revenge of the Gator, Kirby's Pinball Land, Super Mario Land, Game and Watch Gallery, Pocket Puyo Puyo Tsuu, Link's Awakening, Kirby's Dreamland, Track and Field, Castlevania II Belmont's Revenge, Motocross Maniacs, and Tetris. For GBC I like Wario Land 3, Game and Watch Gallery 2 and 3, Zelda Oracle of Ages/Seasons, Shantae, Xtreme Sports, Dragon Warrior III, and Pokémon Puzzle Challenge. Some of my favorites on GBA are Wario Land 4, Fire Emblem 7, Mega Man Zero, Mega Man Zero 3, Mega Man Battle Network 2, Mega Man Battle Network 3, Advance Wars 1 and 2, Mr. Driller A, Racing Gears Advance, Game and Watch Gallery 4, and Double Dragon Advance. -
There is this hack that changes some of the graphics and adds the missing mazes. It says "unfinished", but seems to be nearly complete and seems to be fully playable on real hardware. Reading the posts, it seems the AtariVox speech samples are the only thing left to finish.
-
If you highlight 1 player and press left or right (if I remember correctly), you get a full screen mode (works for both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man, as well as the GBC versions). Graphics are small, but I prefer it over the scrolling. I'm pretty sure cruise elroy works in the 360 XBLA version. The Namco Museum 3 PS1 Ms. Pac-Man is odd. The direction trick works, but Ms. Pac-Man's mouth is always open, when it is closed in the arcade version.
-
Is there a list of Pac-Man ports missing cruise elroy? I tried using Bing to search with multiple terms and it wasn't much help.

The GBA Frogger has a 2 player simultaneous mode. I haven't played the game with another player, but it does support single cart multiplayer.

what master system games are incompatible with genesis?
BrianC replied to Thekng123's topic in Sega Genesis
I heard otherwise. I heard the compatibility issues have to do with the game using the SG-1000 display mode or something along those lines. I also heard SG-1000 games don't work with the adapters to use JP SMS games with the Genesis. -

This site seems to suggest that the bug is with the JP version (I also remember reading somewhere that the Genesis SMS VDP is not the same as the SMS2). I also noticed that games with very minor issues like Sonic 2 (glitching is no worse than US NES games like Duck Tales and Mega Man 3, played on real US hardware) are listed on the site as "incompatible". -

oh ok. I'll check again, but I don't remember having any problems with Ys on the PBC. One site says that only the JP version of Great Golf has FM (I think it was also Sega Retro, but not 100% sure. They did say that only the JP variants of SMS games in most cases have FM, which is wrong. Of the JP FM games with a western counterpart, only Phantasy Star and Ys had the FM removed for the western version. There are even some western only games like Time Soldiers, California Games, and Rampage that play FM when played on a JP SMS), but I have the US cart and it plays FM on the JP SMS when I play it with the tototek adapter. edit: Tried it and it seems to be fine. I wish the site had more specifics of where this bug is supposed to be. I suspect it's a minor one, but it would be nice to know more details. -

What is the problem with Ys exactly? I don't remember having any problems with it on PBC. I know F-16 Fighting Falcon doesn't work on Genesis and that Brazilian X-Men Mojo World game has a graphical issue. There are a couple games like Wonderboy in Monster Land, Penguin Land, and Bomber Raid that have issues with Genesis controllers, but these are playable on Genesis with SMS controllers. The odd thing is they actually play fine with Genesis controllers when played on a JP SMS or a Genesis modded with a region switch set to the JP region. -
Very nice work. It's nice seeing Gauntlet on the 2600. I found a couple glitches. Sometimes when pressing down at the bottom of the screen an odd warp happens where the character switches to Warrior and you enter a level that can't be exited normally. I also noticed that you can't shoot at the bottom of the screen. A couple times enemies died without being shot or touched.

As strange as this sounds, Ultimate Qix actually is an arcade port. The original name of the game is Volfied and it plays very similar to the arcade version.

The thing with a good chunk of Compile games is that they seem really hard at first, but often have overpowered weapons that make getting through the game much easier. Gun Nac for NES was one of those that was a lot easier than it seemed. I heard it might be the same case with MUSHA, but I haven't gotten far enough to confirm. I ended up getting that game on Wii since the price went up so much on the Genesis one. Last shmup I got for the system was the Japanese Darius II (aka Sagaia). I'm liking it so far and especially like the music in the game. I like what I played of Truxton quite a bit and was surprised by how much it shot up compared to when I got it. I also have a couple of the other Toaplan ports (Fire Shark, Twin Cobra, and Daisenpuu/Twin Hawk). No Zero Wing or Hellfire yet. A Game Genie also works for imports, though I widened the cart slot and had a region switch installed on the model 1 Genesis. The region switch is not only good for games with lockout, but is also good for games like Mystic Defender or Truxton that are different or harder in JP mode. While it is mostly true about most post 1992 games having a lockout, it's not the case with every game. Langrisser II for MD came out in 1994, but doesn't have lockout. As far as I know, Puyo Puyo Tsuu doesn't have lockout either. I also have a couple EU MD games, which unlike JP games have the same cart shape as US Genesis games. I have Psycho Pinball and Super Fantasy Zone, both of which run fine on US Genesis (both seem to be optimized for US and play music at the right speed). Some games, especially later ones, have compatiblity problems due to the PAL standard, as well as region lock, though.

Maybe PM Thomas Jentzsch or one of the other programmers? I tried the .dpc and I got the same issue. I don't think it's anything on my end, especially since orb also jitters a bit on real hardware.
-
I could check, but I don't think the problem has anything to do with firmware or bankswitching. I have the latest version of Harmony. Screen flips and jitters don't show up on Stella and I heard it has something to do with an incorrect amount of scanlines.
-
I tried it out on my 7800 using Harmony Cart. I'm also getting jittery graphics on real hardware. Fun game, though.

As far as I know, the link that says "click here for the latest version" is the latest one. 2006 sounds right for the date.

That's not completely accurate. It's a hack of the Ebivision Pac-Man that was turned into Pesco. I haven't played Pesco or the original Ebivision Pac-Man, but I read that a lot of changes were made to Hack'Em compared to the Ebivision Pac-Man (fast Pac-Man option, modes based on Pac-Man plus and hangly man, tweaks to make the game play more like the arcade, etc). Here's the thread for the game.
-
I don't know if it's possible to get Hack'em on cart. I play it using the Harmony cart. Pac-Man Arcade Enchanced is Pac-Man Arcade with some color tweaks and the intermissions. It's available in this thread.
-
Hack 'Em and Pac-Man Arcade Enhanced are missing and are definitely much better than "dog turd". Better than Pac-Man Arcade, though the latter is an improved hack.
-
Thanks Tempest!!!!! This is good stuff.
-
That's true too, but I rather wait and see. Not sure that money is involved since they are just asking companies for permission to dump a prototype.
-
On the bright side, Namco let Ed Fries use "Rally-X" for his 2600 conversion of that game and "Atari" had official collections that included prototypes.
-
What about upcoming games? Star Castle and the new Pac-Man are both good stuff, though I'm not sure if the latter is going to be in the store.
