I see what you mean, I don't know how I would be able to live with only having 50 HD movies a month. According to the pricing scheme that comcast and time warner are now testing, that 200 GB of bandwidth could cost $150.00 to $200.00 a month. Not that it matters much, since the current high end plan only offers 40 GB a month at almost $55.00 and that covers both uploads and downloads.

With internet bandwidth caps on the horizon, digital distribution of HD movies and large games is starting to look like a pipe dream. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24509832/ http://www.memphisrap.com/cgi-bin/content/...d=9990290121643 http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=4147974

But no one picked up on the mistake. They continued to call it "Jack and Wiki". Which means that no one has had enough exposure to the title for the mistake to stand out. Ergo, Capcom did a lousy job of marketing the title. Think of it this way: Auto Thief IV Machinations of War Combat Duty IV Super Mario Universe Mario Cars Wii Halved Lives 2 Guitar Player III Those stick out as obviously wrong. No one would make a big deal out of mistakenly using them once, but a replier would most certainly use the correct name when they speak. (Though it's perhaps as telling that they're nearly all sequels. Hmmm...) The point is that Capcom didn't do a very good job marketing if the Creme de la Creme of gaming can't even remember the correct name. Maybe is because the name sucks.

I took a chance on my megatouch. I had never played one before, but had seen a pre XL type machine at a local pool hall a few years ago. At the time, I thought it was a gambling machine. One day the name just popped into my mind so I looked it up. After spending a couple of hours scanning information about it, I thought it was unique enough to warrant buying one. I Checked ebay and quickly realized that these machines + freight shipping wern't cheap, So I thought about buying a broken machine and repairing it myself since there seemed to be a good selection of replacement parts on ebay. A couple weeks later, I found a non working megatouch gold for about $130.00. I wasn't sure what to expect out of this and didn't even know if I could repair it. I was just hoping that the monitor worked since it's the most expensive part to replace. I got it home, disassembled, cleaned it, and found that the monitor worked. I still had to do a few repairs and buy stuff for it, but i'll just make a list to keep the post short. Resolderd chip and capacitor that had been ripped off of I/O board - free Used epoxy to repair plastic connector for coin/bill box - $2.50 Broken touchscreen overlay replaced with new touchscreen from ebay - $40.00 No cdrom drive or software included with megatouch, bought NOS titanium 2 hard drive kit from ebay - $90.00 Replaced broken side panels with used side panels from ebay - $50.00 Replaced t-molding on side panels with extra from previous project - free Replaced cabinet locks with extras I had laying around - free Replaced cheap plastic coin acceptor with extra from wico coin door - free Upgrade from 32MB to 64MB memory - $10.00 Overall, I now have a fully fuctional megatouch titanium 2 in great condition for less than $500.00. It was quite a bit of money to throw at somthing that I didn't know if I could repair, or even enjoy playing once it was repaired. After about three weeks though, I can say thay I don't regret it at all. I may even buy another for 2 player head to head play, .....maybe. It's a very unique machine with a good selection of games in a compact design that would be a great choice for a collector that doesn't have much room. It's well worth the money.

I bought one of these from ebay and just recieved it today. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from this screen, but I can't help feeling dissapointed with this product. Factoring in the cost of shipping, the total price came to about $50.00. Judging by my level of dissapointment with this product, I can't imagine how dissapointed the people who paid full retail for this would be. ($175.00 - $200.00) The plastic casing that houses the internal components seems to be well designed but bulky. It makes the xbox about 1/3 taller that normal, but it attaches securely so you wouldn't have to worry about it detaching itself even with rough handling. The built in speakers sound alright. The don't sound great, but I was expecting worse, not that I had planned on using them. The screen itself is where the dissapointment sets in. The resolution is crap! The box doesn't mention what resolution the screen is, but once it's powered on, memories of the sega game gear come flooding back. It's definately not anywhere near 480i which would look acceptable on a screen this size, so the video from the xbox has to be downscaled quite a bit which makes almost any kind of text unreadable. When I think of brightness control on an lcd screen, I assume that it would adjust the brightness of the backlight which would be nice since the backlight is so bright that it makes the screen look washed out, but that's not the case. The brightness pot, only controls how dim or bright the image on the screen is, which makes it seem more like a contrast control, so the screen just looks washed out all the time. The color pot only adjusts how much color the image has, so you can only adjust from full color to black and white. That's the extent of the screen controls which I think are pretty useless, so I just leave them both at max. There are three connectors on the screen. A direct link cable which I would assume is straight RGB, an s-video imput, and a composite input. I connected the xbox to all three and didn't see any difference in picture quallity at all. The reason I bought this screen is because I had just discovered xbmc. I have my whole music collection on the xbox, so I thought it would be awesome if I could connect the audio output to my car stereo and use it as a kind of jukebox. I could live with the washed out screen, but the unreadable text makes it really hard to choose what tracks I want to play. Overall, I gave it a score of S, for it sucks.

Sorry, totally misread you there. I'm not sure how to make your game slower, but it still might be worth a shot to check out the difficulty settings.

MAD CATZ ARE FRIGGIN PIECES OF CRAP!
warmachine replied to 27ace27's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Mine is snot green with black accents; i'm not sure if other color schemes exist. It's comparable to a guncon 2. -
You really need a gamepad. A keyboard just isn't going to cut it. You can change the difficulty of the game in the dip switch menu. It might help a bit. If it seems like the games running slower than normal, it might be caused by your mame version. Newer mame versions require beefier hardware to run games at the same speed as older meme versions. I could play most games at full speed on a celeron 1.2 ghz slot 1 machine using mame .102. If you don't want to change mame versions, you can adjust your sound sampling rate and video options to compensate.

MAD CATZ ARE FRIGGIN PIECES OF CRAP!
warmachine replied to 27ace27's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I have the madcatz blaster for the xbox. It's an awesome lightgun which I use quite often for the lightgun games in mame. Other than that, I stay away from third party crap. Even the best third party stuff pales in comparison OEM gear in feel and durabillity. -
That "curl" in the top left corner of the screen can probably be adjusted out with the H. hold pot. It may not totally fix it, but you can make it a lot less noticable. If you can solder, you might want to think about a cap kit. It will breathe new life into your monitor, especially if the machine hasn't been maintained in a while.

GTA IV: I'm Not Getting it, How About You?
warmachine replied to MetalSlime23's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I thought that just about everything in san andreas was an improvment over the previous games. Many people will make up any excuse to say that gta3 or vice city were better just because they didn't like having to control a black guy. -
Nice cab! and in decent condition at that! My tetris plus cabinet was once a M.A.C.H.3. It was a WWF Superstars when I got it. I had thought about trying to restore it, but my cab isn't in any kind of restorable condition due to the kind of material it's made of, but is acceptable as a jamma cab. After a rebuild, the original g07 is still going strong. It's a shame that replacement parts are so hard to find and maintain which makes the upgrade to modern technology a necessity to keep that classic alive, but yours looks to be well done and tasteful unlike some of the mame conversions i've seen.

Blockbuster vs GameStop.. the lesser of two evils?
warmachine replied to Mendon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I just had a play n trade open up close by and bought a used gba sp from them. I thought it was a fairly decent place. They carry a good amount of the older stuff from the dreamcast to the nes. From what I could tell so far, I didn't see any boxed genesis game priced for more that $4.00 or any loose game for more than $2.00. I don't see why people moan so much about buying or selling at gamestop. If you don't like how they operate, just don't go there. I really don't feel strongarmed into selling any of my games for squat, or paying more than I think it's worth for a used copy of a new release. It's not just gamestop that operates this way either, so be prepared for dissapointment when you try to sell a games to a chain store. They arn't propelling unconsious thoughts into your mind to get you to sell them your games, so there's nothing to really complain about. You can either sell them your game, or not. You are the only one to blame if you don't like what they offer and you sell it to them anyway. I buy most of my games used since I plan on opening them anyhow, but I won't complain about the condition of the games they sell. If I take a case up to the counter, I ask to see the disc and if it has scratches, I wont buy it. It's that simple. Some days, their customer service is decent and some days it's not. It's nothing to really whine about, it's no worse than anywhere else I shop at. -
It's good to see interplay making a comeback, I just hope it pans out. It's hard to think of a more deserving company, especially after how badly they got dumped on. It's not like the quallity of their games declined at all. I think they put in their best effort right up untill the end. I guess they just put too much faith in the future of pc gaming.

Does this mean we could see a new descent?
-
It's single layer. It probably just got tugged while still in the connector when I snapped the screen it was connect to off.
-
I've just finished working on a couple of sp's. I kind of snapped the screen half of my sp1 a couple of years ago and just now got a new screen for it. Now I'm just waiting for the new shell case to be delivered. I just got a used pearl blue sp2 and decided to swap out the light grey buttons with the dark grey buttons from the sp1 to make it look less girly. Here's a pic of what's left of the sp1's ribbon cable. I just connected a new aftermarket replacement screen to the sp1, but have a couple of wires hanging loose that I think are for the light. I'm just not sure where to solder these yet. The ribbon cable on the sp2 looks similar to the sp1's cable but i'm not sure if they are interchangable. The difference between the two sp's are that the brightness button on the sp1 switches the frontlight from off to on while the sp2's backlight is always on and the brightness button switches the backlight from dim to bright.

"a drunk with a credit card is a wonderful thing"
warmachine replied to SeaGtGruff's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Well... it's going to happen and there's nothing we can do about it. It's already happening to music and I think it's kind of sad since it means that underground music will be pushed further into obscurity and paved over it the kind of mainstream crap that the is easily controlled by the big corporate media companies. All that the media has to do is just convince the mouth breathers that such a console and service is "like teh ipod and itunez for gamez" and the rest of us will no longer have a choice. Couple that with the fact that most people don't know and don't care what DRM is and it becomes quite clear what is in store for us in the future. If most people really gave a crap about having a phisical copy of the game they just finished than we would see far fewer gamestops than we do now. -
You could buy an 8liners monitor chassis that will convert almost any regular television into an arcade monitor that will accept the 15khz rgb input. If I had the room, I'd make use of all those old console t.v.'s that a lot of people seem to be throwing away. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=5448.0

I think you should just leave it as it is. If you are trying to make it look like a donkey kong, than you should go all the way ( monitor bezel, side art, control panel, and marquee), or don't go at all. I don't have any interest in any of the nintendo arcade games, but I feel that the lure of a classic game involves more than what's inside the cabinet.

I have the gce version. I know that the only way to get one was to send in a card that came with the vectrex and gce would send you a catalog that you could use to order the bag. I'm not sure the same applied to the mb version or if they were sold at retail.

THX Chief Scientist: "It's too late for Blu-ray"
warmachine replied to JamesD's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I guess we'll see where this is all headed once ISP's start charging for bandwidth usage the same way that electric and gas utillities charge for electric and gas usage.
