Mysterious and Elusive Sears Exclusives (and Braunschweiger)
slapdash replied to Room 34's topic in Atari 2600
Nah, braunschweiger calls for nothing but butter & onions, much like limburger cheese. -
I'd say it just got printed with a crappy red ink that looks orange... Bad print run is all.
-
Don't worry, I know what you're talking about -- they dropped the chips from some of their dedicated consoles like Pong, Video Pinball and Stunt Cycle into cartridges, and built a console to run just the power and video. Wish I had one...
-
Yeah bending a stiff label guarantees it's going to peel eventually... I have an A#2 Fancy Label Club entry for an Imagic cart that won't stay stuck on. Grr!
-
Write him again, as that's the guy who sells them now ($5!), and why the link on the Stella Gets A New Brain page doesn't work any more (we have no more for sale). If you sent a check (you say cash first), send Randy a photocopy of the cashed check as a reminder. For anyone else, I've posted Randy's address a few times in these forums, but if you can't find it email me and I'll send it to you and/or repost it here again.

On my lap.

Ye gods, but I can't go without agreeing with that sentiment. It is probably my most hated game ever. You know how some games are so bad you pull it out, toss it on the pile and shrug? Not Scuba Diver. It gets under your skin. So while there may even be worse games *cough*Mythicon*cough* games out there, Scuba Diver is more reprehensible. See my review at 2600 Hunter if you think I'm exaggerating how much I hate this game.

I might be up for one too... I'm definitely in the "want to see pictures first" camp though. I'd also like to know if overheating is an issue, as others have suggested...
-
Here's a suggestion -- allow nickname changes as it is today, but attach a note about what the old nickname was for like a month's time. That way people have time to adjust to it AND know if you changed it just to be a shit under a new nickname.

Umm, that's not quite true... (and it's "descent" by the way). "Atari" is not an ancient board game of Japanese descent, "Go" is an ancient board game of Chinese descent that also has strong roots in Japan. And "Atari" is a (Japanese) term used in the game of "Go". Like others have said, it is somewhat equivalent to the term "check" in chess (and "Sente", Nolan Bushnell's followup to Atari, comes from a term in go that is somewhat equivalent to "checkmate" in chess).

I think the guy was honest... I'm the guy who figured out that it was Survival Run, after he sent me screenshots (and he did make the effort). I actually had a bid in, but pulled it.

398,000 (he says having not even tried to win, or even follow, this contest)
-
Actually, perhaps frying is when it starts at the normal address, but with random garbage in the memory that needs to be initialized (for some games)????
-
That hasn't stopped your avatar...
-
Thanks for the information! So what do you do to order it? Just send a money order for $5 to Randy at the above address? Exactly.
-
Here's a whacked out idea that I doubt would work, but I bring it up just in case... Can you read the MMC port serially? If so, might you be able to make a serial to MMC adaptor to accomplish the serial connection?
-
It was just under 300 after an overrun (250 was the planned number, but they "made too many" as sometimes happens). That was version 1 of Stella Gets A New Brain. Version 2 is still available for $5 (shipped!) from: Randy Crihfield P.O. Box 1332 Pepperell, MA 01463 PS - jetset516: I gave you some info on your begging thread, so your pleas did NOT go unheard; the only thing is, I think I gave you the wrong term to search on -- so if you looked, I'm sorry; if you didn't look, naughty naughty, because I tried to help.
-
Yup. I wouldn't fight it if you wanted to name it the 5200 Connection... Actually, even if you can't get a newsletter off the ground, you could write for Dan or I (though I limit 5200 coverage to news and homebrews for the most part).

Hey, it's a doggy-dog world. That's "dog-eat-dog world". (You were kidding, weren't you? )
-
Just in case people don't realize you're kidding, I used to know this guy -- he was a fellow videogame faned. I won't say I know him well enough anymore to be a character reference, but I will say that's his real last name.
-
Not to mention that he forgot to list JTS for that matter.

Games in NTSC format that were only released in Canada
slapdash replied to MattG/Snyper2099's topic in Atari 2600
Bomb games that passed Quality Control? It doesn't say they passed SUCCESSFULLY... Er, well, maybe they meant they passed QC rather than going IN? -
Does Anybody know this Handheld Game??
slapdash replied to sly's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I don't think it's that rare, but don't know for sure, and don't know about that particular manufacturer over others who've produced the same thing. I think that's one of the handhelds I have for trade actually... -
Can't remember if that was Infogrames last year or so, or Hasbro before that, but yeah. And given the news, I would that that Infogrames is surely going to have the Fuji flying all over E3 this year, assuming they have the time to make up the displays, and/or don't mind spending the money to do so.
