  1. And you can get a CD with all the games on it from Hozer Video Games for only $5 shipped. Search this forum for a thread or two with "Supercharger" or "Starpath" in the subject for the postal address.
  2. Er, actually, making CDRs has been discouraged because CDs have been made professionally and are being sold off for only $5 apiece shipped. Why reinvent the wheel? Hozer Video Games still has them, you just have to order via regular mail now. I've given the address in a couple Supercharger threads in the 2600 forum.
  3. Yeah, I can vouch for him - but if you don't believe me, check out rec.games.vectrex - you'll get loads of good references there. Not to mention that a couple people have posted pix of their copy on their web pages. But beyond that, I just received my copy yesterday. :-)
  4. Actually, they got bought out by a manufacturer of religious software called Bridgestone Multimedia.
  5. Uhh... Of course they did. And believe me, if they hadn't gotten permission and made them look like the originals they'd be just as liable for a copyright lawsuit as if they'd used the exact ROM images -- it would just be less concrete to prove (though look and feel would get them right off the bat). Plus, they'd have a trademark infringement suit for the Atari logo too. Well, they didn't really take out the Adventure easter egg, just messed it up. It's possible they did the same with Yar's Revenge. But then again, since it's not quite as well known, they might not have known to reproduce it they way the seem to have started to do with the Adventure one.
  6. I do seem to recall that Foxbat was a Howard Scott Warshaw title, but I'm not sure WHERE I heard that... If he ended up doing Indy instead, that makes sense, and maybe I asked him or read it in an interview, dunno.
  7. Bingo! And write up the results. I'd considered this, but I'd prefer it done on the real thing just in case the emulation changes something about the AI.
  8. I've never seen one of these at all and they're missing on the 2600 controler page as well: http://www.atariage.com/controller_list.ht...l?SystemID=2600 It's not really missing I think, as it seems that the controller list is more about types of controllers than being a list of ALL controllers. In other words, a joystick is a joystick (though they obviously have some exceptions to that). There's another stick -- by Championship Electronics? -- that has the exact same shape only was molded in black plastic instead of the blue see-through plastic that the Tron stick is made from. I don't have a picture though.
  9. To be honest, no one's sure what happened to it... At times it seemed like a sequel to Combat, but when the Combat II proto showed up, that didn't seem right, since a Foxbat is a military jet, but Combat II had no dogfighting. Dunno...
  10. As long as someone brought up Checkers, that reminds me of an old idea I had for an article for 2600 Connection... Anybody have two Ataris and some time on their hands?
  11. Ditto for me, plus I was waiting to see what PC4 carts they'd have. *sigh*
  12. Well, in my case, it's POSSIBLE that it's a failing power supply, since I have other games (Qb, Skeleton) that act funny on my Jr, AND on a 4-switch with same supply. Sadly, I'm not sure where any of my spare power supplies are right now, so I can't test this theory. I may just buy a new one at some point, but haven't gotten around to that either.
  13. Note: if you make a Wimpy proto, be sure that it's PAL, since I don't think Wimpys exist here and you probably made a lot of people say "WTF?". Wimpy
  14. Isn't that just a hack/copy of Oink (or Pooyan, though I suppose that would be Pig & Wolves). Stone Age? Wazzat? Sure it's not just Roc N Rope?
  15. But the DukeLink is still a bit of an exaggeration, no?
  16. They've been gone for a long time now unless there's a new site I don't know about. You'll note I said "address", not "URL" or "website". CPUWiz is right; Hozer is still doing business, just not on the web.
  17. Funny, that poster is perfect for April Fools anyway -- "You'll fall for it".
  18. Though I have the greatest respect for Chad too, that just isn't fair... Hozer put out a LOT of games. Thrust is available in two different editions, so saying "Thrust" instead of "Jah Fish" isn't right. And at least the 2600 on a chip isn't ready yet, so give it some time. That said, I am also very depressed that Chris isn't going to release the AV mod. It's supposedly actually done, and finally produceable cheaply. I sort of get the impression that something or someone prodded Chris to leave the scene, not that he was just tired of it in general, which is just shitty, for Chris and the rest of us.
  19. Do you mean the AV mod? Chris Wilkson was going to be selling a drop-in mod, but has sadly left the hobby before producing it.
  20. Because there's a Japanese slang term "paku paku" that describes the motion of the mouth opening and closing while one eats. As Zylon keeps pointing out, the Japanese name is PUCK-MAN. (which I think is derivitive of that slang term). I'm pretty sure that's the case -- "paku" rendered into English became "Puck" until someone realized the potential chaos. "Pac", while not as close to "paku" as "Puck", does the job nicely.
  21. Could be an intentional part of the design -- you escape the creatures, but there's still a little maze to go. You know, like you're out of the main maze, but still gotta find the exit.
  22. Not any time soon... I still haven't found the time to READ them! Sorry about that. Don't rule it out, but don't expect it either...
  23. Sorry, haven't gotten around to reading my copy yet...
