Extremelly RARE press kits and preliminary instructions!!
slapdash replied to Joystick Jolter's topic in Auction Central
Aw, dammit... I can't believe I missed the Entex Piggyback auction... I don't know if I'd have paid that much for the PR stuff, but damn. -
Yeah, I'm looking for any WORKING Video Gems carts myself. Sadly, Jah Fish has my Pharoah's Curse cart :-(
-
Hozer Video has CDs with all the games on them for $5 shipped, and the compilation is fully legal. In other words, don't even bother backing them up, since all the work has already been done for you. I don't have the address handy, but search the 2600 forum for Starpath (recent -- a couple threads this month); in a post or two I gave the address.

Argh... I meant that I think there's a version out there that doesn't require you upgrading to OSX, and I think you shouldn't even need CarbonLib.
-
There's a version of Stella for Mac OS 8.6... Some things don't seem to work though, even with a correct Profile entry.

Chris you're dead on according to Rick's Stella @ 20 interview. He said he liked the game and started working on it before Atari got the license. He wasn't pleased with his outcome (he had flicker at first) and put it away for a while to work on Maze Craze. Later when Atari got the license he pulled his code off the shelf and started working on it again. He mentions that he wasn't an artist and checked with artist that do the box art. He wanted their help in creating the invaders but ultimately didn't get it. So what you see is Rick's creation. I've also thought it's less like the arcade just since he was already restricted to 6 x 6. If it's not going to look like the arcade grouping, why make the invaders like in the arcade? Let's be honest, there aren't that many bits in the invader sprites, so artist or not, he could have made them closer, but I suspect he recognized that it was already a different enough game and just made up his own invaders to make it stand out more. I wonder if the artists HAD helped out what they'd have looked like, but I suspect they STILL wouldn't have looked like the arcade game's aliens...

Possibly he meant that challenge where you have to dodge through moving bricks?
-
Sounds like the VidCo Copy Cart / Homevision ReproCart rather than the Yoko cart copier.
-
Moreso, the little "NR" in the middle means "Never Released".

You've reminded me of maybe what the "fallacy" in the theory I posted was... Mediagenic didn't actually OWN any of the Imagic or Absolute stuff, but only licensed them -- is that right? Funny though... If Imagic still exists, but they sold off they're 2600 & Intellivision assets, do they at least own their assets for other systems?

Someone seems to be auctioning off Gauntlet for the 2600
slapdash replied to babble's topic in Atari 2600
Really... When did he visit? I do, but... in a box somewhere I think. I know he had just found some stuff like Clown Downtown and Brick Kick, but then disappeared. He did have all kinds of groovy stuff listed though. -
Ah... If you call "some events" then there's also Party Mix.
-
I like Harry the Hyphen-Eater and Buk Buk Pu-WHEET, but the last is getting closer to what I had in mind: "Eh, Just Buy It Anyway"
-
I seem to recall that Activision, Imagic and Absolute all fell under the Mediagenic umbrella, and when Mediagenic went bankrupt, and the new Activision rose out of its ashes, I assume all the rights came with it. But I also seem to recall getting corrected about that at one point, so now I'm not sure. Best to hope Ken reads this thread and responds.

Sort of... None others used that "exact" controller, but others used the original keypads, and others the Kid's Controller, and they're all compatible controls.

So how many Gauntlet and Malagai chips were in that run - or is that knowledge completely obscured? I assume it must be quantifiable given there is a high rating for acquiring either of these games in the 2600 guide. Sadly, I never heard numbers, or even which he had more of, but supposedly a bunch of them got bulldozed under with the guy's barn and/or house. -

This is pretty much the case, yes. That handwriting is Jim Redd's, of PVV. Mind you, some of the stuff he sold may be on EPROM. The Answer stuff on the other hand, he had tubes of chips, and put them in whatever carts he could dig up. Basically, he'd gotten the end of the Answer production run as I understand it, but they had more chips than carts. -
Only the first one or two though, right? Not the third?

Who was "chocolate milk girl"?

¡Pd. 4 Thrust 5-02;1 Lawsuit + 18 Months == FINALLY results!
slapdash replied to Godzilla's topic in Atari 2600
I'm still in, pending an idea of what it really will cost. I still haven't tried to send a note to PayPal but will try to do so soon, as well as get an idea of how much the guy actually owes me for other items too. -
The count's two and two ... Uhh... I envied the custom cart Adrian had in +HIS+ avatar? Base hit! (Given the frownie face, I won't say "first base" or anything like that; plus Adrian's girlfriend might get mad)
-
Yeah, I've got a few of them. Heck, maybe all of them. PC Jr carts aren't the center of my collection or anything, but I do collect them.
-
Bingo. But I'm curious for sure.
-
Nope... EdTris, and SoundX (I think) by Ed Federmeyer beat Okie Dokie too, though I think Okie Dokie did come out before Oystron.
