Also, I don't have an answer, but you might want to ask this in the hardware forum here, or the Restoration (Forum Du Jour) one on http://www.digitpress.com/forums since they're more specific to hardware hacks.

I wouldn't mind picking up an extra copy as a spare and one as a "never use" as I use the hell out of the one I have. Is this how to obtain the two I am looking for or is there an ordering email? Sorry, no email -- he shut that down when he shut down the website. So, the address above is the one to use.

Any word on getting this dumped? Or can you at least scan the cartridge, or take screen shots of the game?

There was a time when Electronic Games was putting out a newsletter of extra news & stuff they couldn't get into the mag, or was more timely. For a while it was called Arcade Express and later changed to Hotline. Anybody have any of these? Somebody asked me which issues I had, and it turns out we both have Vol. 1 #10 through Vol. 1 #26 of Arcade Express and Vol. 2 #1 through Vol. 2 #11 of Hotline. Were there any others? I'm pretty sure there's no gap between them, as they were both biweekly and the dates match up, but I'm not sure how we'd both miss the first 9... And are there more issues after Vol. 2 #11? Of course, if anyone has these, I might be interested in purchasing any I don't have, as well as just rounding up the info. :-)

Are there any homebrews currently in development?

There was a game called Senso DX planned. Whatever happened to that? I've heard hints of others, but nothing really concrete just yet. -
¡Pd. 4 Thrust 5-02;1 Lawsuit + 18 Months == FINALLY results!

You gotta love the court system -- I gotta pay just to get my money back. Nice. But I guess it might be worth it. I'm not saying I'm aboard yet, as I'd still like to give this guy a try to send my stuff, since there were other things... But, what kind of documentation do they need? All I'd be able to provide would be emails I've saved into a file, and maybe some PayPal info. I mean, is that good enough? -
No! NO!!! Don't succumb to the cult of Mythicon hatred that Russ is purveying!!!! The Sorceror music is second only to Pitfall II which cheated by using a chip! Down with Froggo! BOooo!!! OK, Mythicon sucks, but I really do like that song. See, the beauty of it is that you can record the song onto an iPod or something, and never have to play the "games" again.

I can confirm that the colors on my PAL Mission 3K cart are different from the ones on CPUWIZ's NTSC cart. Er, not PAL, PAL-M. And I meant would the same cart give different colors on different TVs. Are you sure you copied the right link? Because I don't see on that page where it says that. Okay, 99% alike. And the carts are the same as NTSC ones I infer from the bit about the daughterboard in the Brazilian 2600. So, sorry for bringing it up!
-
But aren't all carts from Brazil NTSC? I think it's only the systems that are PAL-M. Hmm... That might just be a semantical issue actually... PAL-M is kind of a hybrid standard with some features of PAL, and some features of NTSC, right? But what it has in common with NTSC is actually the 60 Hz and number of lines, right? If so, it would be hard to tell the difference, and yeah, maybe "PAL-M" carts are really just "NTSC" carts after all. But I thought that PAL-M still had PAL colors, which would still be data on the cart, so I'd think that the carts might still be "different" from NTSC ones, though if they just pirated the NTSC ROMs, then they'd be the exact same BINs, but would have different colors on a TV in Brazil than they'd have here in the US... right? So you might be right, and so I apologize about bringing up PAL-M. But can anyone confirm that the colors are off? Or does PAL-M use NTSC colors too?

He does still have copies of them, $5 shipped: Randy Crihfield P.O. Box 1332 Pepperell, MA 01463 Part of the reason for the secrecy about the BINs for these games is: 1) While Stella Gets A New Brain is still available, there's no great need to pirate them, and we asked that people not pass around the BINs out of courtesy to us for putting SGANB together 2) Bridgestone not only has the copyrights, but they're not "laissez-faire" about them -- we were paying them royalties to allow us to sell the collection. Most people have been really good about not distributing BINs, though they're obviously out there. And I do understand that some people just want them for the emulators, which is why we never really went after anyone. Heck, I think version 1 (or version 2 maybe? both? I can't remember...) of SGANB had the BINs on the CD anyway, which would be just another reason to buy the disc. By the way, CPUWiz, you say you have two shrinkwrapped copies, but did you not get the booklets with them? That was another plus to SGANB -- a nice booklet with instructions and even some etc. Oh, and a couple homebrew games (like Oystron) as a bonus.

CCE? It's probably not NTSC then but PAL-M?

Just look earlier in the thread -- I give the address. "Hole in it"? Say what? I assume (like Thomas :-) that you don't mean the center spindle-hole... Just look earlier in the thread, I already answered the 'hole in it' part. When you say "topside" it sounds like a nick, not a hole. I mean, does it look round, irregular? I've not seen anything like that. Hozer is NOT gone, only the website. He's still doing business via the mailing address. I'll double check so that if he does stop that too, I'll take over distributing the remaining CDs.
-
Luckily, I only spent $0.99 each, plus tax, so I'm only out $3.12, or around that. :-)[/i]

I assume you mean computer magazines? I can't really help you there, but have you looked at this site: http://www.atarimagazines.com/?

So, what was the give-away? The "5 pounds"? I'm thinking I should try to pick up a heavy-sixer myself... And believe it or not, I'm not up on system lore... Are the heavy-sixers all made in Sunnyvale, or elsewhere too?

Didn't someone interview the guy who designed the logo? Or maybe it was in that "Secrets of Atari" article?? I seem to recall that it was mainly supposed to (abtractly) represent two PLAYERS (not paddles) going head to head across the net/line from another, but also that the resemblence to Mt. Fuji was intentional (note that unlike some other mountains, it is "flat" on top rather than peaked). I can't verify that though... (Hmm, but it isn't the 30 Secrets Of Atari article after all).

"TRON" star to appear at PhillyClassic 2003!
slapdash replied to PongHit's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Wow, that's pretty cool... I didn't realize/know that until quite recently (got Caddyshack on DVD for Christmas). I was a bit surprised. -
Hold on... You're obviously not familiar with Stella Gets A New Brain... It is not a pirate copy! It was fully licensed from Bridgestone Multimedia (and permission granted by Atari for the first version, since they still had some hold over the rights then). This is a fully legitimate collection of Starpath games, unlike any of source except the original tapes. Just look earlier in the thread -- I give the address. "Hole in it"? Say what? I assume (like Thomas :-) that you don't mean the center spindle-hole...

I can't believe Froggo is getting more votes than Mythicon for worst company! At least Froggo copied a couple of mediocre (as opposed to crappy) games, and even their shittiest game was a game, unlike any of Mythicon's shite. But that said, worst game ever -- Sea Hunt is Froggo's height of shame; otherwise known as Skin Diver, Scuba Diver and a couple others, but a turd by any other name would still smell as rotten...
-
Um, no offense, but there already IS an audio CD, with extras on disc, and with instruction booklet, available for the low, low price of $5, shipped no less, so there's no need to pirate these games just yet.
-
Perhaps CPUWiz & Marco could send their respective BINs to Thomas and see how the protos compare to each other as well as to the released version of Solaris?
-
I think the first two posts sum it up nicely...

TurboExpress in the US and (I think) PCE GT? LT? elsewhere. Neo Geo Pocket. There's also the Wonderswan and the GP32. I don't know if any of them have the proper resolution...

There are boxes from business stationary/letterhead and/or envelopes that I've been using for years -- fairly heavy cardboard stock, and fit 48 carts by most manufacturers very nicely. The only problem is that some carts and some boxes vary in size, so it doesn't always work.

Last I talked to Randy, he still had a bunch left. And I'd gladly take over selling them if he stops.
