The HTML says that the IMG SRC="ak." -- you need to provide a proper http:// path, and I suspect the image is really ak.jpg or something like that, so it's obviously not going to work. Try emailing it to me at [email protected] and I'll see if I can view it or put it up somewhere.

Regarding Pepsi Invaders and Coke Wins, there never was a name put on the games themselves, but a proper name was given to it by the marketers, right? DP had the story in a recent issue...

Your funderful reviews are wanted! (...read me...)
slapdash replied to Uncle Duke's topic in Atari 2600
BTW, to anyone who doesn't like Kabul, I apologize -- I talked Jess into making his "what if" pic (which I thought was funny in a pun-like way, turning the Mad Bomber into Osama and all, and Kaboom to Kabul) into a real ROM image. -
Cybergoth: got a bigger pic of that shirt? It does look pretty cool... I don't remember the song, but then SSS wasn't that big here really. Jek: that thing is neat, whatever it is.

Rick: I had most gaming mags, and don't remember seeing the Game Brain you speak of, and I've gone through the fine print of them at least twice for my games lists. I can only assume that it was in a mag I never saw, and I offer the fact that I've had Gamma Attack and Kamikaze Saucers on my rumor list since 1984 at the latest as circumstantial evidence. How many people saw those two ads? (Well, the KS ad was big, but the mention of the 2600 version was tiny).

Was Press Your Luck the gameshow that one contestant had figured out the timing of and could keep going without ever losing? I'm pretty sure, though maybe it was Joker's Wild?? (Don't remember how that one worked anymore, and that's probably just as well).

Was it maybe in an electronics mag, not a gaming mag?
-
Oo, never caught the Football Fanatic ad... Where was that? The Gamma Attack ad ran ONCE, in EG, and it was in the fine print for another Gammation product (I think a "rapid-fire" adaptor). I was afraid to order it, thinking it looked a little fly-by-night. But I should have! Actually, it's quite possible I wouldn't have had the money anyway...

Sorry to jump in late, but I'm pretty sure Marco is right about Ultravision being a reseller, not a producer -- their console, which never sold here, is just a Funvision console (which apparently was sold) rebadged. On the other hand, who originated Karate and Condor Attack?
-
Important question -- can you tell the two versions apart easily? And are the original versions still on shelves for the time being? What exactly are they changing anyway?
-
Rick, who made that Game Brain thing? Can you make some pix for us? I think one of my coolest items is the Swordquest Waterworld T-shirt from AtariAge. And the Earthworld & Fireworld ones too, to make a set (damn, no Airworld!).

Videogaming is a harsh mistress... My first official day of admin was rife with old addresses in need of deleting. Today's been much quieter so far. Thanks for your confidence Manuel. :-)
-
Are we not men? How long is the contest scheduled to run?
-
Marco: Yes, please find out all you can. I'd especially like to know who offered this, and where they advertised, because I read as many game mags as I could afford and I NEVER ran across that one. And I'm the only guy who seems to have ever noticed the ads for "Gamma Attack" (which I suppose was never released, or else is a holy grail).

Okay, it's been posted to the list too. I'm officially Stella administrator now. Glenn will still be working on Death Derby and hanging on the list as much as he can. Part of why he wanted me to take over was so he could work on DD. On the other hand, this may very well be permanent. It's hard to say... I mean, Glenn has a kid now, while I'm a (perpetually) single guy. Who do you think has more free time to do admin chores?
-
Didn't one particular collector actually find this one? I hate to give his name, but he didn't really care about 2600 stuff and wanted to trade for Colecovision stuff of equal worth (i.e. other very obscure protos). Hmm, if I'm remember right about this guy, then that's a game we keep forgetting to bring up in the "protos not dumped" threads...
-
I think Bit Corp is definitely a legit company, as they've also done apparently original stuff since the 2600 era (one of the GB-like portables -- Mega Duck maybe? -- for example).
-
I'm not seeing Jah Fish's images either, for the record. I think it might be that they don't like being referred to from a different domain. I think Video Life is my vote for rarest, but Eli's Ladder may be more unknown. On the other hand... What the hell is Birthday Mania??

Actually, I'm in the process of taking over the admin chores from Glenn, who's overly busy at the moment. Sadly, the queue apparently got too big recently, and the Biglist admin (not Glenn or I) had to dump the whole thing. I'd been looking at it previous (couldn't modify the queue however), and I *KNOW* there were valid messages there; just couldn't do anything about it. So, it's possible that if you tried to send something and it didn't get through, it might also be for that reason, and it wouldn't hurt to resend.

Anybody know who created those pix in the first place?

A while back, MattG said: quote: Sean Kelly and Joe Santulli have quite a few mock labels on their sites. Are you sure? Can your provide URLs? I've been on Sean's site and found nothing, and I'm not aware of Joe having his own site (haven't checked out the nether regions of the DP site yet).

MoJoFLTR wrote: quote: (I wrote) "...the only problem will be when I get to fit them in, and how many (as I'd also like to cover the Mental Kombat and Gunfight contests too)" An idea might be to interview each game author about their games, and then mention the label contests, showing the top 5 (or however many) finalists for each game. That way you could save the space it would take to print up however many hundred entries there were. And then you could do a short interview with each of the contest winners. :-) Damn, man, that's not a bad idea at all... It'll take me a while to do it (not next issue, that's for sure!), but I may just do that. Thanks for suggesting it! PS -- congrats to the winners, the top 2 were definitely my faves; I liked the third place too, but I'm not sure it was in my top 5 or not... I'll have to review them all at some point. :-)

I can confirm what Chazbeenhad said -- even through a VCR, I don't see the bullets in Atlantis. Makes it damned hard to see! By the way, a 26C reader says that Avon is even selling this thing, though the $10 model at Wal-Mart renders Avon's $25 price moot I think. PS -- in Pitfall... Are the alligators wearing lipstick??
