EGP... The "Gaming Gossip" scan reminds me -- I always thought "Quartermann" was a ripoff of EF's "The Fly".

Bingo, Scott. I need a cartridge case by Atari, and if anyone has a dead one, then I won't sacrifice a Combat to the Fancy Label gods. In this instance, the M-Network one wouldn't do.

Instruction Storage, Really need some help on this one
slapdash replied to Sylentwulf's topic in Atari 2600
Oh yeah, forgot to say... The binders I'm using are the old Atari ones they were selling dirt cheap a few years back, straight out of the warehouse. I think I've only filled a third of the ones I bought, maybe less than that. -

Whoops, I meant 4 pocket for Gameboy... Alex, I might be able to get you some images, but I'm not sure how high quality they'll be. I finally have a digicam, but it's only 1 Megapixel. -

Re: Purple vs Black ET -- could just be the color our TV was set to; it was definitely a dark purple, though he didn't look black. -
It just doesn't come up in conversation very often. Everyone remembers EG, but EF gets neglected. I have a full collection too, made doubly sweet by the contest win and mention. I think the only other mag I got mentioned in at that time was Video & Computer Gaming Illustrated. Modern mags, on the other hand... I've been mentioned in a few, most recently -- finally! -- EGM.

I've been taking the binder route myself, though I don't have all the inserts I need to really get going on it. The 5x7s (2 pocket) work almost perfectly for most stuff; Gameboy and other smaller instructions fit well in the 6 pocket ones. What I used to do was just put them in game boxes. I had two bigger boxes (Star Raiders and one other) full of regular instructions, and my Boing box full of oversized instructions. That did the trick for 2600 games... -
Hmm, guess I hadn't thought about doing a PCB swap... I'd still need an extra Atlantis cart -- I think I have the Combat to spare, or to spare the feelings of other responders, perhaps if someone has a dead Atari cart that isn't too dirty...

OK, is this the biggest proto find in the world or...
slapdash replied to Sylentwulf's topic in Atari 2600
Regarding the "II" carts... Perhaps those are 2K EPROMs (2716) for 4K games, so it requires a "I" EPROM as well as a "II" EPROM... (I'm assuming 2732 EPROMs are 4K, which I can't remember for sure). -

To respond here rather than the ROTLA thread where Scott mentioned it... When I found the HsW initials "by mistake", my brothers and I were trying to roll the game by playing it over and over. Somewhere around 860,000 the game started with a purple ET. It's quite possible we had picked up over 31 Reese's Pieces, though I can't remember for sure. But Thomas, was ET purple the round after you got 35 Pieces? -
Hey Scott, thanks for the plug! Wasn't Telematch a sister mag to EG? I'll say that I really liked Electronic Fun way back. I didn't think anyone else would remember that one. I won the complete Starpath library from them too...

Speaking of doubles, is there anyone I could get this set of games from for relatively cheap?: Adventure The Empire Strikes Back Pele's Soccer Labelless is best, since I'll be replacing the labels anyway. I also need Atlantis in an Atari cart. :-} Guess I'll be talking to Hozer about that one...

Hey, Marco, please get a scan of Burper! What game is that really? As far as funny and/or x-rated sounding, what about Tonkey Dong and Ssschlong (sp?). Have those been scanned yet?

Would anyone pay money for something like this...
slapdash replied to Joel D. Park's topic in Atari 2600
Scott, I want pix of that double ender if you have any! BTW, why don't you use the Legos you have left to make a 2600LE (that's Lego Edition)? You could even customize the joystick plugs to be Lego-like. (^_^) -
To : I might be able to help you find Ed, though he really doesn't seem interested in "the old days".

I'm sure Twit can provide the proper URL, but have you heard of the A#1 Fancy Lable [sic] Club, or the A#2 Fancy Label Club? They did about what you describe, making new labels for common old games. I even managed to find the time to make a label for A#2FLC. -
Ken, Can't say right now.

Elvis8atari said: quote: where did you hear that the million patch matched the kaboom patch color scheme? Who would know something like that? I think I heard it from a guy I was trading patches with a long time back -- I didn't even know about the Laser Blast million patch at the time, and got one off of him, but he said he was looking for the Kaboom million patch. Don't know where HE heard it from though...

It's frustrating -- I talked to a guy a LONG time ago who claimed to have Pizza Chef and Immies & Aggies; of course, I never heard from him again, and I didn't get his name/number right apparently. Grr... As to Good Luck Charlie Brown and Pink Panther... Neither has been dumped as far as I know. I almost got GLCB dumped by Sean Kelly at one of John Greve's getogethers, but the guy who owns it couldn't come. I'm currently working on trying to figure out who owns the rights to Pink Panther as step one to getting that game dumped, but I'm not hearing back from the people I need to talk to. Grr, again.

Re: Vault Assualt -- he doesn't make these because Brian Prescott, the game's author, does. If Brian ever gives Hozer permission to do them, then he will I'm sure.

I notice in the pic that it's the red car on the blue slick... Can you get the same easter egg with the blue car? Or would the blue car trigger it on the red slick instead? -
For what it's worth, I had heard that the Kaboom million patch matched the color scheme of the Kaboom patch. But I've never actually seen one.
-
Sorry Marco, no, don't know anything more about it, just that I saw pix of the Amigo somewhere and sure want it. Or the Bit60 computer.
-
Though they remind me a little of Creativision carts, the slanting sides are nothing I've ever seen before... Do you have translations on the titles? Given the cart shape and small board, I'm tempted to say they're either for a crappy electronic (not video) game, and/or an educational system, though the label graphics don't indicate that. Perhaps the system was called "Top Game" as appears on the left label... Sounds chintzy and portable.

I think I have a SG-1000 version of HERO too...
