  1. Thomas Jentzsch wrote: quote: Qix, but I don't know how this could be done Yes! Good call. I've always thought that it MIGHT be doable... :-)
  2. Marco wrote: quote: Yeah, Sean told me he had made carts out of of ROMs I sent him. He just figured he couldn't tell everyone about it at the meeting without having a cart ready to actually play the game Made carts out of the ROMs? Huh, I thought maybe he just had your protos... We could always have played the ROMs on his computer. I remember a meeting a few years ago where he was going through some stuff and a couple of us noticed Tempest. This was before it was released, so Sean went "oops" and we made him show us the game on an emulator.
  3. Scottith wrote: quote: I wrote an article on how to make one, using a rotary switch from Radio Shack, which may get printed in a future issue of 2600 C (*hint*) Was that hint for me? Actually, was that an article that Tim never published? If so, I haven't been able to find that one in the files yet...

    Atari RPGs?

Albert wrote: quote: However, given how long it's taken them to deliver Sea Battle and Sword Fight cartridges, maybe they figure they don't want to release anything else until they get that situation under control. There may be much truth to that, but it's not the manufacture that's the problem, it's paying for them. The actual manufacturer isn't always paid promptly for the carts and isn't going to give them to IP until they're paid for them. quote: If they're in no position to manufacture carts, it would be nice if they removed the copyright screens and released the games for people to play. If they release the ROMs, they shouldn't even remove the copyright screens.
  5. I think Stella Gets A New Brain is $30 by itself, but yes, it comes with the Cuttle Cart. Damn fine bargain, if you ask me. Now, Atari did NOT take over Epyx -- rather Bridgestone bought out Epyx for some other properties they'd done. They had some kind of agreement with Atari, but nothing was ever done with it really. Also, though Bridgestone hasn't specifically cracked down on ROMs, they don't seem particularly interested in releasing the games to the public domain. There was a time they were going to allow posting images online, but I can't remember if that was ALL of them, or just a couple.
  6. Yeah, when you get into PAL stuff, there are some red label carts you wouldn't see here. Weirder still are some red label Atari games in Activision style cases.
  7. Entombed by US Games is a LITTLE bit like the way this game sounds from your description. Check it out.
  8. Comments on this thread... There was a version of Bosconian on MSX. I'd like to see this one on 2600. Rally X -- yeah, I thought this could be done, though I'm more familiar with the arcade version than Radar Rat Race. Bomberman -- I'd LOVE to see this, but I'm not sure it could be done "properly". I'm sure it could be done, but maybe not with multiple bombs etc. Robotron -- someone did a feasibility study for the 2600 and said it was possible? Did they maybe not get to the later levels? I can't see any way the sheer number of robots could be done properly. Imagine Berzerk with more, and faster robots, as well as Mom, Dad and Mikey. Uh uh, no way. Food Fight -- see Robotron, though, it could probably be done on some level. Wouldn't mind seeing it either. Others? Blanking out... Maybe Beezer? :-)

    Atari RPGs?

Re: AD&D games... Has Intellivision Productions actually tried talking to WotC about the name? Also, they could just release them without the "AD&D" part in the titles and be legal (that's why Adventures of Tron became Adventures of GX-12).
  10. Marco says: quote: There is a second cart proto? Interesting... It was at Sean Kelly's get-together, along with Squoosh. I guess those were yours? If not, yes, there are two.
  11. You scared me! I thought you'd actually found a Cosmos! I have dibs!
  12. Marco wrote: quote: Well well... now where did you get that ROM? I sent the ROM to four people so far I don't have a copy of the ROM; rather I played a proto cart version at someone else's house. I'll download the ROM later since I see that it's now available. It didn't occur to me about the colors... And I guess I didn't pay any attention to the attract mode, so I didn't notice the different music. Weird.
  13. quote: I read on the Blue Sky Ranger's page that the James Bond 007 game based off of Octop_ussy was released... was this a different game? Can you provide a URL for the page that says that? The screens I've seen for the Octo***** game don't look like anything released that I know of. Also, one game I was hungrily looking for is Commavid's Rush Hour, and another game I'd LOVE to see but was probably just a sham is Gammation's Gamma Attack.
  14. I've never heard of this... So I'll be really interested to see it if anyone out there can find it.

    Atari 2800

quote: I would know this, beacause I know a little bit of Japanese (or, Nihonjin), but not enough to live off of. I guess so, since that should be "Nihongo", not "Nihonjin". (But no, I don't remember nearly enough to get around with it).
  16. I haven't piped up until now, because I'm only reading this thread now. I just got to play the ROM version this weekend, and it doesn't look, sound or play any different than I remember. I suspect that the only real differences in the image files would be related to working on a cartridge. I'm fairly positive that it's exactly the same otherwise. If the Supercharger BIN is 32K, are we sure that it's not just 8K copied four times? I'm also one of the CyberPuNKS, and I'd say that I don't mind this being released, even though it probably isn't different at all for the most part. Maybe it'll encourage others to figure out how to put other Starpath games on cartridge, just for the fun of it.
  17. quote: None of you guys are playing in a band and have some tracks to let us listen ? Well, I don't pretend to be a guitarist, nor do I own one (though Guitar Center's $99 BC Rich Bich sale ALMOST got me), I have been known to play occasionally, and I do have a bass that I spend just a little more time on. I was in a basement band -- a joke metal band -- in college, and we got together again when I moved into the Chicago area, so we've recorded a little more. If you're curious (and over 18!) check out our band page or our MP3 page and (shudder) let me know what you think.
  18. Looking at Jessica Stevens, it MIGHT be Steve Kitchen, but I can't say for sure. If there's a scan of the Space Shuttle instructions, or the issue of Activisions with SS, Steve's pic would be there. BTW Jah Fish, transgendered people are necessarily gay, before or after... I've actually met Jay AND Jamie Fenton... Also, there was William (now Catherine) Mataga. I remember talking to someone YEARS ago (don't remember who) about the overly high incidence of transgenderism in the gaming industry, and his theory was that you've got a bunch of fringe people who are suddenly quite rich. So, you take motive, and you add opportunity...
  19. Thanks, I'll give these a try, but I seem to be having troubles with Apple ][ OR Atari 8-bit emulators. *sigh*
  20. There's a small chance that K-Tel Vision bought up remaining stock of Ultravision's carts and slapped on their own labels; doesn't mean they're the same company. But seriously, good eye!
  21. Does anybody have a Karateka ROM image that I can play on an Atari 8-bit (or Apple ][) emulator? I have an Apple ][ version ROM image and the Catakig emulator for Mac, but I can't get it to play...

    Snow White

I've been in this discussion a few times, so for the most part I will beg out of it... But the idea of confirming titles with screen shots to be is a nice compromise, especially with forums like AtariAge online and 2600 Connection offline to display the stuff. I encourage any prototype owners to submit screen captures to Alex & Albert and myself if they feel comfortable doing so.
  24. Yeah, Digital Press offered these... They were called "Live From Your Home" and there were two volumes that I know of (in fact I'm on the second one). I don't know if Joe still sells them though.
  25. Hey Mountain King! Thanks for mentioning the "Solar Fox Rocks" T-shirt! I sent AtariAge a scan of my shirt, but I never knew if it was a CBS promo or a local radio station (from whom I won Solar Fox and the shirt) promo. Now I do! Grazie...
