Breaking news: Intellivision flashback coming to retail

You mean the "not being able to save a game on the cartridge" issue with the Sega Classic COnsole system might be fixed? That would be great! Except that I would have bought my sega system a year too early... What about the other systems? Will the Intellivision or the Colecovision systems have a catridge or sd card slot for roms? -

Very nice! Thank you! I wonder if the Atari Flashback V has the same thing--simulated 2 player play on sports games. -
Breaking news: Intellivision flashback coming to retail
lord_mike replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
A question for current Intellivision flashback owners... The original Intellivision featured a screen saver (actually a screen blanker) to prevent the screen from burning in when the console was unattended. This was very forward thinking on Mattel's part, but it makes it very difficult to demo the system at parties and such, because when the screen blanker kicks in, everyone thinks that the unit is off! Does the flashback unit also emulate the screensaver, or will it keep the screen on indefinately? If it's the latter, then this will be a must buy for me. Oh, another question... do any of the sports games feature a one player mode? I know some of the old console emulators also "emulate" a second player for two player games. If this flashback unit does that, too, that would be a really great bonus! Thank you so much for your time in researching and answering this question! -
Thanks, RT, you're the best! One more question. I noticed that AtariAge is now selling their homebrews on Melody carts instead of standard, old fashioned carts. It is my understanding that these carts are bB 1.1 compatible. Does anyone know if AtariAge would "burn" a single custom melody cartridge for their customers? If so, do you know how much they cost and what the turnaround time would be? If AtariAge is willing to burn a single cartridge for me at a reasonable price, I might be able to use the new features in 1.1 after all! (the project I'm thinking about would be a gift for someone--I just need one cartridge).

Bummer Bigger bummer! I guess not much has changed for me, then! Woo hoo!!! That should be fun at least! Is there a newer "standard" version than 1.0? If so, do you know where I can get it? The official batari site has not been updated in a long time. Thanks for your help!! It is greatly appreciated!

I have a question, too! I haven't been around for a long time, and have missed all the updates to bBasic. I'm excited about the changes that I'm reading about, but am a little confused. Do all the great new multisprite features like 10 sprites and such ONLY work with the Harmony/Melody cartridge hardware, or will most of these work with standard hardware as well? Are any of the new features available on standard cartridges? The next game I want to make will need to be burned onto a standard cartridge. I don't want to get excited about all these new features and find out they are useless to me, because they can't be burned to a normal cartridge. Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide!

What a surprise! I haven't been on the board in awhile, and what's the first thing I see when I log in? Someone complementing me on a game I made over a year ago! Thanks! I'm flattered! Everything seemed to just work out with this one, and I had fun making it. It's my first, and only, game at the moment, although, I'm eager to make some more with the new Batari Basic update that allows bitwise variable names (will make like much easier).. If I could only find a 2600 emulator for the blackberry, that would make things even better! As for the cartridge... I was going to clean up some of the code and create a special cartridge release, but then Albert closed up the store... If there's enough demand, I could work with a different cartridge maker and get some released on cartridge.... Let me know... maybe I'll post a poll in the main atari forum to see if there is enough interest to make it worth my while... We'll see what happens... In the meantime, thanks for the kind words! I'm pleaseantly surprised that this game is still garnering interest after all this time... I'm glad you are enjoying it!

Apple IIe game -- Tuesday Night Football?
lord_mike replied to lhfreak's topic in Apple II Computers
Well, today is your lucky day! We must have a Jedi Mind link or something, 'cos I was just thinking about this game today... I looked it up on google and there was your post! Yes, there was a Tuesday Night Football for the Apple II... it was written in BASIC and the file is attached. Use whatever emulator you choose. It is the Browns vs. the Oilers, (you play the Browns) but it seems that whomever hacked the code to put their teams in did a pretty sloppy job. There is a mix of Steelers and Browns on the team and it's messed up! But, it should be pretty easy to fix... You can use AppleCider to open up the file and edit the basic code easily. Have Fun! Wii Motion Plus... How Will Nintendo Market It?
lord_mike replied to Mendon's topic in Nintendo Wii / Wii U
I can think of two games right off the top of my head that may be updated to use this controller: Tiger Woods Golf (golfers woudl have a field day with this) Star Wars--The Force Unleashed II (a real one on one dual with lightsabers) -
they have.... in Europe only, though!

Sounds like you may be overheating... the Wii can do that pretty easily... make sure that it's in an open air space and that you do not use the "standby" feature at shutdown... the standby mode turns off the fan and it gets hot enough to sometimes fry the video card. You can disable the WiiConnect24 standby mode in options so that it always turns off to a red light. If you are still under warranty, I'd call and see if you can get a new Wii... Nintendo support, I hear, is excellent.

I did think about it... I was hoping that Albert would have seen it and be so impressed that he offered it in his store! Ah, well, we can dream, can't we? There are still a few bugs, especially with the two players and the driving controller... I'd want to work that out... I've thought about maybe doing a "hi-res" version if Albert can (and is willing to) support superchips... Maybe I'll drop Albert a line and see what can be done... Maybe I can get this put out for the Christmas season... It would be cool to see my product listed on the front page! Thanks for all the compliments! I enjoyed making it... turned out better than I expected... beginner's luck, I guess!

Wow, man! You are like the Dean Smith of Atari Basketball!
-
*Ahem*, yes, yes you are. As for this game, the snapshot you posted looks pretty cool. I haven't downloaded it myself, but I'm definitely going to. Oh... What did I miss, jbs? Unless you mean your space harrier project... I guess that's going to be 3-D isn't it... my bad... and now that you think about it, Atarius Maximus' Turbo was kinda 3-d, too, huh... I just... uhhh... well, I mean... I'm just going to go take my foot out of my mouth!
-
This looks sweet! If I'm not mistaken, this is the first attempt at 3-D with Bbasic... As for, "Where to go with this game," it seems obvious to me... Star Wars Death Star Attack!!! Just get rid of the top bar that scrolls up and you've got a custom made Death Star Trench. You already have the Tie Fighters (remember as the sprites get wider, they should also get longer, too!), so go for it! It is my understanding that Lucas doesn't mind stuff like this as long as you don't attempt to make money off of it, but don't quote me on that!

I got lucky... I was tired and I mistakenly put the original pitch values as the distortion values by accident, and I got a pleasing result! I originally did not mean to put a pure tone in there, but along with the distortion tone in the second channel, it's not too bad, I think! I've listened to variations on the "scream" so many times, I became numb to it and had no idea if it was any good or not! I'm glad you like it! So, fate worked in your favor! Had I not made that typo, I'd still be fighting to find something that didn't sound like a giant fart!

Try this... let me know if I'm getting anywhere close to what you're looking for... AUDC0=12 AUDC1=15 : REM also try 3 here, can't decide which value I like better! gameloop AUDV0=10 AUDV1=10 AUDF0 = 12 AUDF1 = 7 for i = 0 to 20 drawscreen next for i=0 to 19 AUDF0 = i + 12 AUDF1 = i + 7 drawscreen next AUDV0=0 AUDV1=0 for i=0 to 255 drawscreen next goto gameloop

Whaa? Me? Well... thank you for the compliment! I'll start working on it and see what I can do for ya! Don't expect miracles, though!!

It seems that the Atari Age Explosion didn't just wipe out the servers... did it take out al the Batari Basic developers, too? There haven't been any postings since the explosion... is everyone alright? Just checking! Is there anybody out there?

When they actually MAKE real games for the Wii, epople will buy them. I bnought the WII to play sports games that would actually make me sweat! I bought MLB2K8 immediately when it came out. It's a great game. I'm looking forward to NCAA 2008 football. Sure, the graphics are better ton the other systems, but I want to actually PLAY the game. Most third party titles are shovelware plain and simple... Very few game developers "get" what the Wii is about and their games are pure garbage. The wii isn't for people who sit in their basement all day. It's for people who want social interaciton and some stress relief in a fun way. The companies who "get it" do very well, but those are few and far between!

Thanks, Batari! Much obliged!!!
