Atari name to be for sale again soon?
Nintendo Penguin replied to Bill Brasky's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I am so glad I did not buy stock in Atari last year. I was seriously considering it, but when for a safe boring stock instead. Good thing I guess. -
Thank god I am not the only one!

Ebay transaction problem... (need some advice)
Nintendo Penguin replied to Nintendo Penguin's topic in Auction Central
I am going to call PayPal later today. Hopefully something with this transaction will go my way, but I doubt it. I have a feeling I am already screwed, but I have to try. -
Have the Chessmaster games gotten a lot harder over the years? I busted out my old Apple a couple weeks ago and seem to be able to beat Chessmaster 2000 about 80% of the time. Have my Chess skills imprived with age, or are the old Chessmaster games weak? I seriously doubt my Chess skills have improved over the years. I played all the time when I was little and would bet a ton of money I was better back then!

Ebay transaction problem... (need some advice)
Nintendo Penguin replied to Nintendo Penguin's topic in Auction Central
Thanks Albert... you kinda confirmed what I was affraid of. Lesson learned for me. Thankfully I am only out $50. I could have been a lot worse. Still though... it really sucks to be out $50! I could have bought a new GameCube or PS2 game for that! I think I will wait till the possible moment and leave him negative feedback on ebay. (serves this guy right!) -
Pole Position II and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. BTW: My high score for the test track on Pole Position II is higher than the score recorded at Twin Galaxies.

So, I sold this item and the auction clearly said $12 for shipping. (which is about right) The guy who bought it, refused to pay the shipping and made an issue out of it swearing I was ripping him off. The item is from 1965 and pretty collectible, so good packaging was a must. He wanted it just wrapped in brown paper and sent on its way... something I did not want to do because it is fragile. I told him I would not change my shipping policy and that was that. I finally had to send a non-paying bidder warning to get the guy to pay. This guy was a total ass every step of the way. All of this took about a month. I don't want to go into a long story on this part, but Hurricane Rita hit Lake Charles, LA. We have some property down there, so I had to take a trip while all this was going on. Because of all the business with our property in Lake Charles and because it took the guy over a month to pay, I honnestly overlooked shipping it. He sent me an e-mail asking where the item was afer about two weeks. I apologized to him explained that I had forgotten with all that was going on. As a gesture of good faith, I refunded his shipping costs and sent the item out immediately. He claims the package never got there. Out of convienence I sent it USPS, so there is no tracking number. (I screwed-up here!) He still says he didn't get it and filed a claim with Paypal. What do I do now? I did send it, but don't have a tracking number. I think he is just trying to screw me. I guess it is his word against mine? I don't know what to do.

Just curious, but how come nobody ever makes new NES games? Is the NES harder to make games for? What would be involved? Thanks!

Anyone else play this game? I know it didn't get great reveiws and its true, there is a big learning curve. Once I got the hang of it, I learned to love this game. I still play it with friends over the net from time to time.

Great link! Thank you.

I was going through some old Apple IIe stuff the other day and came across and box of Atarisoft games. Are you guys ever going to add the Atarisoft stuff to the site?
-
After reading what you guys had to say I took another look at Gamepot... you're right. there is a lot of street gang crap in that game! I dunno... maybe I was just interested because I used to live in So Cal... it would be cool to see all the landmarks and stuff in a driving game. At any rate, I am going to wait for the rpice to drop.

Anyone have any thoughts? I have been pretty excited about this title. Has anyone had a chance to play LA Rush?

I am sure this topic has been discussed a bit, but for the record here is what I am going to do and you all can tell me if you agree or not. Maybe you were planning to do the same thing? I have outlined my thought process below: **** We are all faced with a decision in the next year. Which of the three consoles to buy? I was leaning towards PS3 on account of the great racing games they will undoubtedly have. However, I have have since changed my mind. 1. I know some people like love their XBOX's and that is fine. Personally I hate the damn controller and won't buy one because of it. 2. Sony now has the biggest fan base, so it is hard to imagine going wrong with a PS3. Several great looking titles will be available at or just after launch. 3. Nintendo has lost a ton of market share but still makes a fun game and a reliable system. There are many Nintendo exclusive titles, that for me, are must haves. Unlike they others, no Nintendo titles will be out on PC. So what I am going to do? Well, to start with I am getting the Nintendo. the $199 price tag is very attractive compared to Sony and Microsoft, and Nintendo will surely have some fun games to play at launch as well. 12-18 months later I will probably pick-up a PS3. By then PS3 will have gone down in price and have a great library, some of which will also have gone down in price. The controller looks a little funky, but Nintendo has never made a controller I didn't like. So on that, I am willing to trust them. So which way are you going?

All new N64 ONLY website coming soon!
Nintendo Penguin replied to Nintendo Penguin's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Glad to see so much interest! Content will similar to AA. Title lists, hardware info, lots of scans, gome of the month, message boards, etc... For those of you who remember VintageGamer.com, expect something like that except it will look better and and have a lot more content. -
I am happy to annouce that an all new N64 website will be coming to the net on 12/1/2005. I have been quietly working on this since July and it has come along very well. The reason for the late Grand Opening date is to ensure that there is a lot of content up when the site goes live. I will keep everyone posted.

Mario All-Stars Question...
Nintendo Penguin replied to Nintendo Penguin's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I have done the dead mario thing before, but usually by accident. I have always wanted to do that in 8-4, but never have been able to. It is pretty hard to do in the later X-4 levels cause Koopa is throwing hammers. Its a cool bug. -
I'll just keep my eyes open. I have waited a year for it, so I can wait longer. I didn't realize I had so many 7800 carts... 52. A complete set would be awesome.

Cool. I loved that game on my Apple. I want to try to pick-up one of there... can anyone give me an idea of a fair price?
-
Does anyone have this game? I had a game called "Mean 18" for my Apple IIgs, but it was by Accolade I think. Is this the same game? Just curious.

Mario All-Stars Question...
Nintendo Penguin replied to Nintendo Penguin's topic in Classic Console Discussion
IF you try it on the NES version be fore-warned.... it is a totally pointless lvl. I dont want to spoil it for you though. -
Anyone have this game? I have heard really good stuff but am not sure I want to spend $49.99. Anyone know anything? I heard it was pretty awesome and done in the spirit of and old SNES RPG.

I was messing around with my SNES last night and for some reason decided to put in Mario All-Stars. I never played this much cause I had those games for me NES. (except lost levels) Anyways, I was playing around and could'nt get to the negative world (world -1) in Super Mario Bros. Is it not possible to do this in the All-Stars Version? Don't ask me why I even bothered with this... lets just say I was really bored last night.

Many of us want to have a some rare and hard to obtain classic gaming item. Maybe it is Stadium Events for the NES or the Ultra Rare Nintendo Championship cart? Maybe it is some obscure Coleco thing ...or whatever? I think you get the picture. The forementioned NES items were my "Holy Grail" back when I was collecting. I never aquired them, and they eventually faded from my memory. I recently found something even better... I true one of a kind NES item that I thought had been lost forever... I found my original NES system! It had been missing in action for years. No where to be found. I had assumed it had been thrown out at some point in the last 15 years. I moved recently after having lived in the same house for 25 years. It is amazing what we found... all of it was crap of course, but it was our crap... thus it was special. In the far recesses of my garage, in a dirty box, with tons of other stuff piled on it, in the obsolute last place I would think anyone including myself would store old computer stuff, was my NES! Complete with a couple of my original games... and as a bonus my SNES! I thought they had been tossed out years ago. While of course I already had another NES and SNES there is just something special about my first one. I had often wondered what happened to them and why on earth I couldnt remeber getting rid of them. Sometimes I would actually felt kinda bad about not still having it... like somehow I had betrayed that wonderful little machine that gave me thousands of hours of enjoyment. It was like being reaquainted with an old friend from elementry school. Well, that is just my little story that I wanted to share with you all. Maybe I am nuts... maybe all NES' are the same. I dunno... and I dont care... I am just happy to have my old friend back!

What is the worst NES game?
Nintendo Penguin replied to BONEMAN's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Both of those Bible Advenute games get my vote.
