I guess what bother's me about all of this is that it's like going to a real auction and having the auctioneer say "gone" after the first bid. You have your hand in the air ready to bid, but there's been some shady deal, and you're locked out. Outside of the auction, deals are perfectly fine, but the whole premise in an auction is that "an item will sell to the highest bidder at a prescribed time" I hate checking on an auction to find it's ended "because of an error in the listing." Now you can say, "You can do it too". But if we all start doing that, then I'm going to have to be sending about 10 emails every day, just to get my offer in. That's just a pain, and in my opinion, not fun. As it is now, I feel I have to send emails to people with rare items asking them NOT to accept any personal offers. Not fun. On a separate issue, I've noticed that Sylentwulf personally accounts for about 20% of all 2600 auctions. That's alot of listing fees. Do you actually make money?

I just got my tickets for Vegas and am trying to plan some activities for me and my wife. I was hoping some of you who went last year could speculate on what the expo hours will be.

Bummer on the letdown. But your story has inspired me. I live near an airport, so many potential Atari owners fly over my house every day. I'm dreaming of painting a big "Will buy Atari" sign on my roof. That would get me some games fur shur. Then again, deed restrictions could be a problem...

There's a nice film that addresses the concept of opening sealed collectables. It's a Star Wars / Fight Club spoof, but is worth a look if you question "MIB". http://atomfilms.shockwave.com/af/content/figure_club

My materials engineering professor taught us that Yorgle feared the yellow key because they are forged from the same material. Just like Superman and Kryptonite, it may be that Yorgle loses his power when faced with the key, and runs because he knows he will be powerless against you. And the castle? It is merely painted yellow in an effort to fool the dragon into running away. But he is not fooled!

Does this mean that I have to start making offers to every seller who has cool stuff? I'm all for aggressive Ebay tactics, but this seems to make everyone's life difficult. On a couple auctions I felt I had to send a note to the seller asking them not to end the auction early, just in case someone tried to weasel it out of them. I just hate having to do that. Sorry for the rant. I'll shut up now.

Wow, Phil, you're just not a very jolly person are you? I had no intention of ruining the auction (I know the bidder myself). The "flooding him with emails" comment was a rib at how anal alot of collectors are - I'll bet several people have already contacted the seller. I was just curious if one of those folks found out if the guy was kicking himself. Someone needs some help with anger management!
-
Has anyone let the seller know how much he lost out on? I kind-of wanted to let him know, but don't want him to be flooded with emails. The lesson: don't use BIN if you don't know exactly what you have!

I get copier paper boxes from work, then cut them down to 6 inches. They fit 70 games each nice and snugly and keep the dust out. But that's temporary. I'm planning on building a big display case as soon as I hone my woodworking skills.

When I saw River Patrol was pulled, I wrote: Bummer. Are you going to list it by itself, or did someone cheat the rest of us by buying it off of you? (I really hate when people do that. Does that mean I have to make offers to get good games, rather than play by the rules?) Then he replied yeah man someone offered me $2300 for it, but i felt it was to much so i gave it to him for free. Ah...sarcasm. Freakin' chump! Glad to see his reserve wasn't met.

Creative add-ins are always cool, as long as it doesn't inflate the price too much. How is this going to be released?

Is there a pricing guide out ther or does no one want to ans
bloatedmonkey replied to General Atarian's topic in Atari 2600
If you're looking for free 2600 prices, try AtariGuide.com. That used to be my site. I think he still maintains the price guide, and it's reasonably accurate. -
There's a 3rd Ghostbusters 2600 game? Check this link.
bloatedmonkey replied to King Atari's topic in Atari 2600
My understanding is that Challenge was sold by Zellers in Canada. It's got the Ghostbusters picture on the front, but I don't think it has anything to do with Ghostbusters. There are many foreign games where the picture doesn't match the game. -
I got my Atlantis II a couple years ago, when I guess folks weren't scanning the ebay adds so well (It came with 20 other games for about $25). The guy mentioned in the ad that the auction included "Atlantis II, which was won in a some kind of contest". So I bought it just in case it really was something special (though I figured it wasn't). I just have the cartridge, and it looks just like a regular Atlantis game, except the user had etched a "II" into the label with a pen. I figured it was just his "second copy", that he had labeled accordingly. I would have sold it, but I tried it out and just happened to notice the different score font. I was glad to hear when AtariAge was able to confirm what it was, just wish I had the paperwork that came with it. Sorry for the length - just happens to be my best "great find" story.

I have on of those "Raiders Lost Ark" games, at least I think I do. I didn't think it was very special so I might have sold it - maybe not so smart.

One or two lucky people have straddled the old/new with their orders of 2 units, so they will be able to comment on them. ---------------------- Darn, I didn't know you could order two! I would have liked to have had one of each.

I was fortunate to find one on Ebay about 3 years ago. It was in a lot of about 15 games. I paid $30. At the time I thought that was too much to pay for a game, but I did it anyway. Now I've paid over $500 for a game. Who knew?

Well, it looks like I have a Cubicolor now. It's alot of money, but you only live once. If it turns out to be fake, you'll hear me crying from miles away. The only thing that bugged me is that 3 of the bidders had "wolf" in their name....maybe suspicious but I won't complain.

This week I sold my website AtariGuide.com. It's hard to say goodbye to something you've worked hard on, but now I have time for other things. The guy I sold it to has some neat ideas for it, so it should be worth visiting. Thanks to all who supported me. I'll still be on Ebay, and I can be contacted at http://www.bloatedmonkey.com.

I remember seeing a picture of what the box would look like, but I can't find it now. Is that still around somewhere?
