  1. Anyone know what this is? Never seen it before. Some scumbag ended the auction before I could bid on it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7&category=3528[/url]
  2. I knew something was wrong, but hadn't thought of identity theft. The language used here is very different from robbie's older auctions. What's the chance that the check needs to be sent to a PO box that's not in Vegas?
  3. Oh no, not the Imperial douchebags again ...or sit on their computers complaining about people sitting on their computers. Actually, it doesn't sound like you're being happy. Try sniping - it's better than crack!
  4. Well, I ended up getting only 7 people to sign up for my contest. It's pretty disappointing, but so be it. The upside is that everyone who signed up has pretty good odds, and I like the idea of giving away games to someone who really wants them. I'm going to make sure that everyone who remains signed up through December gets a prize, even if they don't win one of the 3 advertized as a thanks for their support. I'll let y'all know how it turns out.
  5. I sold a gatefold basic math last year for $4. I didn't consider it very valuable myself, but I don't collect boxes.
  6. Sorry, that comment wasn't intended for you. The goal of this is NOT to make lots of money for my kid. This is just a way to make up some of the cost of the games that I'm giving away. A typical account only generates about $5 in 6 months, and I never expected to sign up over 100 people. Upromise just gave me a way to do that - don't worry, she's well taken care of. As for "everything has a cost" - consider advertising: you get to watch TV for free, because vendors get to entice you to their product. That's the basis for Upromise. The guy above is more likely to get his gas at Mobil because he gets some money back. That's about as sinister as it gets. Glad to hear that I'm not alone. Thanks for the support.
  7. Awesome! I've been waiting for five years for fumaatumalafalla to show up on Ebay. I won't be able to afford it so I hope the winner takes a picture for Atari Age.
  8. Not sure how you read "guilt" in this - maybe you're mistaking my dismay for guilt. But I did get a couple more people signed up, so you can call it what you want. This is about the 20th response like this I've received. If you want to buy these games, go to Ebay, wait for someone to list them, then be prepared to spend several hundred bucks. This contest is only for those who want them for free. Lemmings need not apply.
  9. Well, there's only one week remaining to sign up for this contest. So far only 4 people have signed up, and 2 aren't even Atari collectors....pretty sad . Either I didn't make the prizes good enough, you don't trust me, or you're scared for some reason. Oh, well, it's a free country. I'll be in Austin this weekend if you want to discuss - just look for the monkey. I am curious of one thing: although you don't need to sign up a credit card to win (and with only a few people signed up you would stand a pretty decent chance of winning just by signing up a Kroger card), I'm surprised that so many supposedly tech-savy people are afraid of giving out their credit card over the internet. What do you use your credit card for? Have you never bought a book from Amazon or used Paypal to buy some Atari stuff? Do you think that handing your card to a minimum wage waitress is safer than through a secure link to a venture sponsored by several billion dollar companies? Registration ends July 31.
  10. Do you guys have a count of how many folks are expected? Agreed. For those of you outside of Texas, I recommend not leaving without trying some Texas barbeque - it's different from the bbq you find elsewhere in the country. If you want to eat like a Texan, order a pound of brisket, not some weenie filet mignon that you can get anywhere.
  11. Just wanted to finish the story. I received the game. It's in nice shape and it works. So the gamble paid off. Sorry you missed out on this one, Matt, but I guess that's the risk of doing a transaction outside of Ebay. By the way, I chuckled at the seller's response to the negative feedback left after the first auction: We moved. Tape got lost in move. Money refunded in full. No lies on my end!
  12. Ah yes, I see it's missing the flux capacitor. It will never take me back to the 80's without that. Or this could be the rare lock-less version with a perfect window!
  13. Ahhh, it seems there is still some good in this world.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3536558239 I have had many offers on this item but I only accept offers if there are no bids on an item, sorry. Take that, you freakin' vultures!
  14. Buyatari also has a boxed Lochjaw.
  15. If they're not on my list (http://www.bloatedmonkey.com), then I might be interested. These may already be on my list - but then again, they may not be, since they are rare indeed!
  16. I pick cans out of dumpsters and turn them into hard cash! Seriously, I (like others here) buy and sell games for fun. I make a point to break even every year (so I don't owe the IRS). As it stands, I figure I need to spend at least $2000 by January, and I don't have many games left that I need. So I'd have no problem spending a few hundred on a game, though I've yet to spend over $500. Glad to be of service. Do you know why this guy picked you over the other various people who posted on this thread?
  17. I think you lost me on this analogy. Was this from an Ebay auction? If so, I missed it. By the way, I like to play with the best teams too, but not ones that cheat.
  18. It's definitely the same If you look at the pictures from both auctions, you can see the same white spots on the cartridge. But this does appear to be a different seller - he's much nicer. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have bid. It all seems kind of fishy.
  19. I just stumbled onto this past thread, and have an interesting story to add. I bid on that Coke game. When the high bidder didn't pay (as I now see why), I offered to buy it at $5 above the 3rd bidder's high bid (which would be around $425. He refused saying he was giving it to a friend to sell in his store saying it's worth $750-1000. Two weeks later, it showed up again, only in Pennsylvania this time (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...0&category=3537) and with an added pen mark. I won it for $312, which is pretty funny if I actually get it and it works. If not, at least I paid by credit card.
  20. Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but do you guys have an idea of what the schedule will look like? I'm debating whether to make just a day trip out of this (from Houston), but I don't want to miss anything I'm interested in. Thanks.
  21. After 20 years, most Atari games are still working, so I wouldn't panic too much. But I have no doubt that most of my games will be dead before I am, since I don't keep mine in an Argon-filled vault. That's why I buy and sell games, and never buy with money that I won't quickly make up by selling - that way when my games are dead and I have to open them up to replace the chips, I can't say that I lost anything but time. ....or you can just win rare some games in my contest! (sorry for the shameless plug).
  22. Since nobody has answered your question, allow me. No, not good. Yahoo couldn't even do it. Are you guys in a Future Businessmen type of organization? They should have something like that at your school. You might even get some funding, plus they could help you decide what ideas are crap before you post them here.
  23. It sounds like there may be someone else, perhaps more sinister, behind all of this. Could it be....Idea Revolutions, a wholy owned subsidiary of Martha Stewart Omnimedia. Seriously, I love you guys!
  24. You don't need to sign up a credit card. You can just sign up your supermarket card if you want. All of the people complaining about having to give out their credit card number would know that if they actually read the rules. (But I gave Upromise my number over a year ago, and I'm still OK - I think it's far safer than giving it to a waiter)
  25. I think they're trying to hype their stock for their big IPO on Monday.
