Yes, you'll need a Videopac to play most of the Parker titles. They usually will not work with most versions of the Odyssey 2: Frogger: won't work Popeye: works Q*bert: won't work Super Cobra: works

I had a similar problem about a month ago, although mine was just loose, not completely removed. Even so, I don't think you need a new one, unless the metal pins are broken...just solder the old one back on and it should work fine. Get a small soldering iron and some light rosin-core flux solder. Put the power jack box back on the board and apply solder on the underside where the pins from the box stick into the holes on the board. Good luck.

ColecoVision consoles are notorious for failure, so your situation is not surprising...I don't know what you mean when you say the system gets power, etc., because the CV console lacks an LED. It could be the power switch, but the fact that you are getting only a black screen is not a good sign. Usually if the switch is failing, the system will power up, but will have scrambled graphics. CV consoles are notorious for problems with both the power switch and the power supply (they tend to fail over time), but there may be a problem with the circuit board itself. It could be any number of things, unfortunately. For a cleaning and repair guide (and lots of other info on everything ColecoVision), try here: http://www.coleconation.com/ http://www.colecoworld.com/ If you end up needing a CV repair or new power supply, try here: http://www.geocities.com/double_down_on_11...VideoGames.html http://coleco.freeservers.com/

Yeah, sounds like this. -

Yeah, really. I thought Burma was called Myanmar now, and has been controlled by a military dictatorship. -
Could possibly be a problem with your power supply. Are you using a stock NES AC adapter?

So I finally got myself a Famicom Disk System...
Psionic replied to Atariman's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I know this is an old thread, but I figured it's better than starting a new one.... atariman, did you ever get any of those Famicom Disks with Error 27 to work properly after cleaning the disks and/or system. I am currently having this problem as well: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=90904 Does anyone else have any input on this? I'd like to get this fixed if possible. Thanks. -
I don't know, but I have a few carts that don't fit in my 2600 (Light Sixer) very well. My copy of Sky Skipper (Parker Brothers) doesn't fit too well and I really have to shove it in to get it to work.

That was a good deal... Although, was it in a dedicated cabinet? Of course, people will do what they want, but personally I'm not crazy about people using things like that for conversion. Even if it is a common game, there are fewer and fewer original dedicated machines around these days. People keep dismantling them to make conversions or, more commonly these days, MAME cabinets.

That's pretty sweet.

Anyone here have Taito Legends 1 or 2 or both?

Oh c'mon. you gotta love Zoo Keeper. -
Honestly guys, read the old thread, there's no need to repeat the same old nonsense ad infinitum. In light of all the evidence that has been uncovered due to the dilligent research of various AtariAgers, it seems obvious that Atari did in fact bury something in that landfill in Alamagordo, NM. Whether it was E.T. and Pac-Man cartridges, unreleased prototypes, or something altogether else is not known. Whether or not they were crushed and buried before or after people began to pillage the site is not known. So far, no one who was at Atari has confirmed any facts related to this. No one from Alamagordo has yet come forward and shown an E.T. cartridge (or anything else) that they pulled from the landfill or has even claimed to have done so. All that has been said is hearsay, and true answers don't appear to be forthcoming any time soon. All we have are the newspaper articles from when the dumping occurred in 1983 and the author of said articles is now deceased. You can read the old thread (still going) or this page to answer any questions you have. 2600lover, forget about E.T. If you want to shed some tears over Atari games, the fate of Chase the Chuck Wagon is far more tragic.

Yeah, all real Mr. Do's Castle carts have the triangle-type label like all Parker Brothers games do. You probably got a CBS copy...that sucks, oh well. I just thought you guys should know that most of the games and manuals sold by eColeco (formerly ADAM's House) are all reproductions, especially the rarer ones (like Jungle Hunt) that are actually worth $32.75 loose. The Gateway to Asphai cart you bought is probably legit, but the game is only worth about $15 loose...Mr. Do's Castle goes for about $20-$25 loose. They also repair ColecoVision consoles, and though they do use official parts they got from Coleco, their repair service is very expensive ($50+ flat fee, plus shipping both ways). So, unfortunately, eColeco is high on potential but low on results...

I've known about that site forever. 90% of the games that eColeco sells are copies that they had manufactured by CBS Electronics right after Coleco pulled the plug on the ColecoVision. I would also mention the fact that they have just decided to raise their prices from $24.99 per cartridge to $27.50 (plus 5% handling and 3.90 shipping per cartridge). Very few original ColecoVision games are worth $32.75 each for a loose cartridge, let alone cheap copies. Let the buyer beware.

A dollar or two at most, they are all very common. Instruction manuals themselves usually don't fetch much unless they're part of a complete game. If you want to get rid of those, post this in the Marketplace forum, not here. PBJ

Value of a Q*Bert Board Game...new
Psionic replied to Crimefighter's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That game (Berserk) is not the right one, it has nothing to do with the video game (Berzerk). -
Anyone here have Taito Legends 1 or 2 or both?
Psionic replied to Lacan's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Yeah, I have the first one, it's great. Last I heard (probably six months ago), the developer was working out a U.S. release of Volume 2, but as yet there's been no release date announced. There was a thread about Legends 2 not too long ago: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=85964 -
Value of a Q*Bert Board Game...new
Psionic replied to Crimefighter's topic in Classic Console Discussion
$10-$15, maybe $20 for a sealed one. They also made Berzerk, Pac-Man, and Zaxxon board games way back when. -
Everything one needs to know is in the old thread (which is still going), so let's not start another: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66637

By 1982, Atari thought they could do anything...and it was that arrogance that destroyed them.

Q about Genesis controllers on eBay
Psionic replied to Brian R.'s topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes, for the same reason that there are so many sealed copies of Aladdin/The Jungle Book/Pac-Man/Ms. Pac-Man/Sonic Chaos/Sonic Spinball for Game Gear...because when Majesco took over distribution of the Genesis/Game Gear from Sega, they made zillions of them and they've been sitting around ever since. Nevermind E.T., they should bury all of those in a landfill. -
According to KLOV, you are correct, Proto Man. I didn't even notice that. Guess that means no dice, Shawn.

Hi there rasone77, welcome to the boards. There is actually a forum sprecifically made for introductions in the Community section. Anyway, you seem to be a Nintendo collector. Welcome and enjoy. Cheers, PBJ

Good luck with that one. I've never even seen a picture of the cabinet. There aren't any VAPS members that even have a PCB, nevermind a cabinet/conversion kit. Sorry.

Nice pickup. I used to work in an amusement park and I actually almost bought an Out Run machine they had there. As far as a suicide battery, some Out Run machines have them and some don't. I believe the first machines manufactured lack them and the later manufactures contain them. I don't think it has anything to do with the deluxe/standard/upright variations, but I could be wrong. Whatever the case may be, actual suicide batteries on Sega boards usually affect the game sound or the game as a whole, I don't believe the high scores would be affected...you would definitely know if you had a dead suicide battery. The high scores may indeed have their own battery, nonetheless. Check the game's manual (if you have access to one). Are you sure the high scores are saved in the first place? Regarding the shaking of the steering wheel, it is fairly turbulent. I don't know if you are experiencing anything beyond what is normal. If you don't have the game's manual, you should probably get one, that's my best advice. Good luck.
