  1. I recently reformatted the pdf with all text retyped and all images' contrast/brightness adjusted for better results with my printer (your mileage may vary). I thought to upload the pdf here, but turns out my adjustments made the thing 56MB 😲 (prolly because I made it 600dpi). So, here's a google drive link. Zipped up it's just over 42MB. https://drive.google.com/open?id=15iKTEZx-zPzCkA6aM72a9Pmsv4BgXIsx If you print with Adobe Acrobat or some variant of it, choose the "Booklet" setting. You'll want to be able to print double sided. For my printer, I found out "Orientation" had to be "Portrait," (NOT "Landscape" like you'd think). It will print Landscape either way, but when set to Landscape, it prints the reverse-side pages upside-down. Here's a screenshot of my Adobe print settings: Printed like this, you can fold the stack of pages in half to make a booklet, staple it at the center line, and trim off the edges. It should turn out like the pic in my earlier post.
  2. You have me interested in this again. I’m going to try printing some shells at the library and see how they turn out and how much they’ll cost (they charge by the hour). Their selection of colors is lacking, but I know they have green (kind of a lime shade), silver (which doesn’t turn out as cool as you’d think), dark blue (which could be suitable for the Midnight variant), medium gray, and of course black. There are a few other colors (like red and yellow), but I can’t think of any that would be appropriate. I’d like to order my own colors, but the printer they have that does a decent job takes an uncommon size. All the colors I like on amazon would only work with their printer that does a really crappy job.
  3. I'm fairly certain you can order a custom cart from the AA store. The links above still work for me. You got me thinking though -- I bought a couple hundred old carts several years ago for making runs of this and other games. They are in storage and I've not really had the heart to sacrifice them. I still have the EPROMs. If I get an stl file for a 3D printed cart, I could see what the cost would be to do it that way with custom colored shells.
  4. What are "Jimmy Pond", "Yellow Submarine", and "Hyperdrive Odyssey" on your poster? I've not heard of those projects and haven't been able to find any info on them. They look very interesting.
  5. Been using a little piece of foam since the '90s. Also cut one for the 7800 back then. That proposed 3D printed plastic slot cover looks nice.
  6. Thanks! You beat me to it. Glad you were here to help out. I was going to say he could just attach the file himself here in a post but you were more helpful. On a separate note: I uploaded an update to California Games. I’ve had it on my hard drive for a long time, but didn’t realize I never put it here. Nothing groundbreaking, just edited trees in BMX to be palm trees, made an alternate dirt color BMX course, tweaked the surfing colors a bit so the wave tops are a little more visible and the surfer has a tan.
  7. There are 2 ways to fix that. 1) Make the background lighter (I don't want to do that) 2) Edit the font color of the interface which is in the firmware (I haven't touched any of that) I did think about the black numbers on the dark background, but it doesn't bother me because you can easily see the highlighted page number since it's in yellow. The 2nd option would be the way to go imo, but like I don't really want to get into that any time soon.
  8. I've updated the first Wood Theme so the text is easier to read in the detail, about, and settings screens. Also, I made a variant swapping around the wood and VCS textures. The file sizes are smaller in this V2 since the larger area of the screen is a solid color. There are also bezels included in these as seen below. They are modified versions of Exodus' CRT retroarch bezels (Credits and links given in the included ReadMe). Again, these are for the Standard FB9 HD, not Gold. However, the music and bezels can be used with Gold or Standard. Version 1 (Updated) Wood_Theme_V1.zip Version 2 Wood_Theme_V2.zip Edit: Added HD logo to top right corner. If you prefer to have the HD logo, download these and rename them. Wood HD Logo.zip Sample of Version 1 & 2 with HD logo: Bezels P.S. I recently saw the standard Flashback 9s on clearance at my local Walmart for just $11.
  9. Haha, yeah that seems to be the case 😂 But like I said before: don't hold your breath. I was in the same boat... I had the webpage pulled up and was planning to order when I had time during the weekend. This was the weekend right when they were announced discontinued, so I missed it by about a day. That's what I get for waiting until I had some free time. lol Anyway, I would also be happy to send a controller your way for being converted, if you ever decide to do that.
  10. I think the standard edition console is more finicky than the Gold version. For me, the same SD card that works fine in my Gold console seems too slow in the Standard FB9. It took me a bit of testing with a few SD cards before I successfully got it working. Remember that with the custom firmware, it’s mounting the “rom” folder on the SD card as a partition instead of the internal one, so if your FB9 is having any trouble with the SD card, it will cause flaky behavior. You can delete the mount_sd.ini from your SD card to use it without mounting your custom rom folder. You’ll still have access to the ROMs in the GAME folder. If you still have trouble, definitely try another SD card.
  11. I just wanted to edit out "BOOM" from the interface, but I thought, "why not add a little flare?". Here are some updated backgrounds with some 2600 texture and wood accent (For the standard hdmi Flashback 9 only, not the Gold version). You could use it with the Gold, but it might not match the other interface parts. Also, some of the interface files are hardcoded to be read from the internal storage, but I included them anyway in case anyone wants to rebuild their partition and flash it back to their device. Wood_Theme.zip Here is a bezel with its thumbnail as well:
  12. Right. It looks like nearly everything has been updated except for the car, which is why I made that comment. Not wanting to be too critical or complain though... I’m really looking forward to it. Like I said, I love racing games and this will probably end up being my favorite on the Jag. I just hope it doesn’t end up with the current car sprites where I always think “I wish...” when I play. That’s what happens when I play Super Burnout. I love the track graphics, but never liked the Motorcycle sprites, and it always really stuck out to me when I played. Of course, with this one, it’s not that I don’t like the car sprites, just that I hope for more polish, (highlights/shine effects). Again, awesome game and I’m really excited for this.
  13. Got to check this out at PRGE and it’s looking very exciting. I LOVE racing games. My only critique so far is that I hope the car sprites get a bit of polish before finalized. The car could really use some highlights and a bit more color variation so it doesn’t look so “8 to 16-bit”. The road and everything is looking very nice. I’m really looking forward to this (and Crumbs).
  14. Looks like I'm a little late to the party, but here's a video I took of the game at PRGE.
  15. Looking good. I look forward to checking this out tomorrow.
  16. Not sure what you mean. Can you explain? I've never thought the logic was off. I'd love to have fall-away enemies though instead of them just disappearing.
  17. Wait... what did I miss? Where are instructions about changing out resistors for paddle compatibility? I've only seen the info about potentiometers.
  18. Yes, I've been using the custom firmware for the Genesis Flashback (and loving it), since it was first released. 🙂 But I'm not aware of a script to dump the emulator folder to SD and read from there. I'd think it would just be a simple edit to point the script to the correct directory of the Genesis Flashback's folder. Unfortunately, I've not opened my 2018 Genesis Flashback (yet), so I don't know where that folder is located.
  19. This works great. I love having my own music and bezels. It doesn't see to care about the emulator in the SD folder though. I tried replacing the default stella_libretro.so with the latest from the repo and stella2014_libretro.so (renamed to stella_libretro.so) and both seemed to work fine and make no difference. So I replaced it with the Vectrex core to see what would happen and it still made no difference. So it's reading the UI assets, but not the emulator core. Can you modify the script to work with the Genesis Flashback? I'd love to replace the music and bezels in that.
  20. I just noticed the pic of the game over screen in post 200 on the previous page. Not having the sky a different color (same color as the water) makes it look less boxed in. I kinda think that looked better. Here it is with the 9A color used to highlight some of the waves/spashes while the sky is removed to avoid the boxed in look, but keep the extra color detail. The man's jacket is B4 in this mockup. It could go one lower to give more contrast with the water, but I don't have my actual 7800 color pallet for my art program available right now. I'd avoid any luminance 2 or lower if you also have black though (as you do here), because on a lot of TVs a value of 2 or lower looks almost indistinguishable from black.
  21. This is what it would look like using 9A for the sky: Compared to the current color in 2 different emus. Many TVs will look somewhere between these. Some will lean more toward the picture on the left, but that's pretty much the best you can hope for. Some of my older TVs definitely lean more toward the in-between of these pics or more toward the right. I've worked with colors and how they look on many different TVs. Just saying that you don't really want to go past the "9x" range for sky blue. The "Ax" range can work depending on surrounding colors, but it's likely to appear too greenish (though suitable for water). The "Bx" range will definitely be too green for sky. Unless it's a shared color with something you want to appear green, but in that case, "Ax" would be a suitable compromise.
  22. Great job. The only complaint I have is that it's hard to tell what's going on in the game over screen. The sky looks very green and blends in with the captain. If you're using a color in the Ax or Bx range, it's going to look very green on a lot of setups. I recommend not going past the 9x range for blues especially for a sky color.
  23. Finished playing through this one today. Very well done. I look forward to the final release.
  24. My wife and I will be there. Kevin Mosely Kevinmos3 El Paso, TX Kim Mosley El Paso, TX
