  1. Hey all, Would it help adoption, if I made a video showing how games can be made high score enabled? This is of benefit to more than just FujiNet users, because it implements a high score table that is written to/from disk. The FujiNet just capitalizes on this to make it shared via Internet. There are MANY games that could be converted, especially if a few of us just took some of the games and really started grinding through them. I did half a dozen titles over the 2023 Xmas holidays... Thoughts? -Thom
  2. Computer War (Thorn EMI, 1982) for #Atari8bit is now #HighScoreEnabled. Gameplay is simple, shoot down the missiles, before they reach their targets, and match the codes so that the missle bases can be disabled. Do this before DEFCON 1, or risk GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR WAR. #retrogaming

  6. txt files, yes. we can do that. edit... if a way can be found to do it? edit edit...would basically be a new media type DiskTypeBAS on the firmware side. -Thom
  7. The Adam config has this as quick boot, so this should be doable(tm). -Thom
  8. I really would have thought the high score enabled FujiNet games would have had a larger impact on the High Score Club here on AtariAge, but it seems to have gone completely unnoticed, or ignored...

Which HSC, or all of them? I know that FujiNet is cross-platform, but I haven't kept track exactly which systems are supported today, and which hardware it takes to run it.

all of them, but I have spent an unbelievable amount of time deliberately adding high score boards (with web scrapers) to more than two dozen 8-bit games, at this point, with more coming.

At least I made the leaderboard on ATASCII or whatever the name of the game was, that was cool :D

  11. No. This is because these are device slots. They correspond to drives 1 through 8. The Atari can only boot from slot 1. This is intractable and has nothing to do with FujiNet. You can, however: (a) use the disk swap feature to rotate a disk into slot 1. (b) use the web UI to move a disk into slot 1 to boot., or... (c) reset the FujiNet and use CONFIG to change what's in slot 1. -Thom

  13. Dunno if anyone noticed, but... The development tools (MAC65/68 and LINKM) have been found, which developed their arcade games in the late 1970s and early 1980s. https://bitsavers.org/bits/Atari/arcade/ They are implemented in MACRO-11, and all assemble out to SAV files (and the SAV files are actually on the e6 disk) The arcade games in this repository can be built with it, e.g.: https://github.com/historicalsource/centipede/tree/main Which contains the mac source, the command file, documentation, and binary artifacts for Centipede, which were copied from the original RX01 disks. I will be setting up simh to run RT-11 V4 to demonstrate all of this soon (I have to get RT-11 back in my head, as I haven't used it in forever) -Thom

  17. For #Atari8bit #FujiNet users, NOS 0.6.0 has been released. But, what is NOS? Why would you use it? I attempt to give a few small demonstrations of how to load and use it to transparently access information across multiple network protocols. #retrocomputing
  18. Why has absolutely nobody noticed that you can create a new ATR directly inside CONFIG? You guys are making it 50 times harder than you should. Select the appropriate host slot, and then press 'N' for New. 2024-01-21 13-43-44.mp4 -Thom
  19. In this video of the #Retrocomputing #Archaeology Series, we explore the #Atari8bit #Music #Composer, a cartridge available at the launch of the #Atari 400 and 800 systems, in 1979. We go through the process of transcribing Bach's Invention #8 in F.
