  1. On all system I already UAVified, I ran the cabling to the existing monitor plug.

On my 400, I did the latter of your two options.

Ah, yes, I should have specified I'm looking at adding it to a 400. How did you secure the cable to keep it from tugging on the internals? Just use the existing RF cable hole and use the case as a clamp?

  2. So how are people installing these? Meaning are you running the internal cabling to an S-Video port and the audio to a 3.5mm plug mounted to the back of your system or are you guys running cable out the back all the way to the TV? I'd think it would be cleaner looking to do the former, but thought I'd ask if anybody has documented it either way.

  3. In the older UAV thread, there is a some posts about the 400. But be aware, that you lose sound, if you don't get the sound line out of the box.

There is a discussion about it in the old thread.

I'm keeping an eye on orpheuswaking's sound mod to compliment the UAV or Super Color CPU card. I'll go back through the older UAV thread again and see what I can find.

  4. Are there any installation instructions for the 400? I'd love to get rid of the rf on mine due to so much interference. I've looked back at the linked threads, but I may have missed them. I'm trying to decide between this and the Super Color CPU card from tf_hh, especially since it appears the UAV is now going to be integrated into the Super Color CPU. The Super Color CPU indicates there's soldering and drilling needed and I was wanting to see what all was involved with the plug-in version of the UAV for the 400.

  5. I didn't even know Bluetooth cassette adapters existed.

It's actually pretty cool. Once you get it paired up, it automatically turns on and links to my phone when I press play on the recorder. When I press stop on the recorder, it automatically turns off. I bought it used from Amazon so it ran around $12. All my belts are shot and the pinch roller has dried and shrunk so it seemed the most economical way to get my 410 up and going again.

  6. Hi all. I'm trying to convert some cas files to wav so I can load them via my 410 over a Bluetooth cassette. All the cas files I've tried to convert just sound like high pitched screeching. It doesn't sound like the whistling and record tones I'm used to hearing. I'm using the command line version of cas2wav. Is there a newer version or a better application for converting them? Wav, mp3, flac, it doesn't really matter to me as long as I can create an audio file from the cas image. Thanks.

  7. No sense in creating a new topic since a lot of information is already here. I went to replace my belts in my Atari 410 and found there looks to be 4 belts, not 3. I've attached images for ease of description. The belts with the green arrows are what I've replaced. The one with the red arrow I did not. Currently the symptoms of the recorder are that it will not rewind very well and will not play. It fast forwards fine and the counter works. When I have the unit play, the pinch roller works but the spindle doesn't move causing the tape not to be wound into the cassette.

I ordered the replacement belts from Best Electronics, but it would seem that they do not have the 4th belt. I guess I'll try and determine how to get this belt out and take some measurements for a replacement.

you will also need a #6 diverter sink washer rubber hose washer for the little PLAY idler it comes off by removing the RED pin Also snip the spring in the take up reel in half so its half as high as it used to be and viola REWIND AND FAST FORWARD WORKS GREAT NOW!!! ...it seems as the rubber hose wahser seems to big but use small flat blade screw driver to push it in then run it along table rotating and spining it as you push the grommet into the ring once you SEAT it it will work as new and if you snip spring next to the felt in half so its not as high as it was half as high it will rewind and fast forward better than factory..

    now push play and pause..

Thanks for the info. This project has been on the back burner. Maybe I'll get it up and going later this week!

  8. Okay, I found out why my play is not working. It's not a belt failure. I messed around with the 410 while it was disassembled. I've attached yet another image for easy explanation. The wheel circled is engaged between the pinch roller and the base of the spindle when play is pressed. However, mine is slipping. I can push it with my finger a little more towards the center of the deck and it works fine. I'm presuming the rubber wheel has shrunk with age or is too dry to produce sufficient friction to function properly.
