I'm working on a platform game for Android at the moment, but be sure it will be ported to Jaguar CD just after Android release https://twitter.com/onorisoft/status/490789949902692352 Also, I'm working with another guy on a platform/enigmas oriented game for PC Engine, and it might be ported to Jaguar too

we already discussed this, the way the game is made is not suitable for cd. imagine playing and sudendly in the middle of an action, the game pause and the cd starts loading... and this cannot be changed easilly as Another World rely on a virtual machine running code made by the original author, and the loading occurs inside this custom code. NinSEGA & kevincal > do you have unlimited money to produce 1000 cartridges ? I guess no. cartridges is so much expensive and hard to make, really. do you really thing that we are making small quantity on purpose ?! if it was that easy to produce, we'd do it.

Protector: RESURGENCE coming to the Atari Jaguar!
Orion_ replied to Songbird's topic in Atari Jaguar
no, 30$ = 22€, where as shipping an envelope from France to US is 3.3€ so, well... -
Gorf is included along with other homebrew games such as painter, jagmania and jagtris, in the BJL rom I soldered in my Jaguar, so no need of cd or cartridge, it's built in =) It seems that gorf and painter was public domain back then, so you can find them easily on the internet.

Protector: RESURGENCE coming to the Atari Jaguar!
Orion_ replied to Songbird's topic in Atari Jaguar
That is strange, because last year I received a cardboard envelope from Illinois to France, and I was kind of surprise how cheap was the stamp value on the envelope (less than $3 or so) I tried the USPS website, and see that a First-Class Package International Service for an envelope of about 100gr is <$10 I don't use tracking when I'm sending envelopes, because it cost a lot more money, I didn't had any lost package since 3 years, even when sending hundreds of envelopes and sometimes in far country. If I were a customer I wouldn't spend $30 of shipping for a simple enveloppe, no way. -
Protector: RESURGENCE coming to the Atari Jaguar!

I really don't understand why songbird is asking 30$ when shipping overseas. When I'm shipping from France to USA it cost me less than 5$... -

Jaguar Hybrid CD, also compatible PC CD-ROM and TurboGraphX !
Orion_ replied to Orion_'s topic in Atari Jaguar
sorry, it's PCE or MCD, not both they are using the same 32k data area on the CD, and as this area contain security verification data we can't mix both. -
Jaguar Hybrid CD, also compatible PC CD-ROM and TurboGraphX !

this is just a proof of concept, I had this game I'm currently working on for PC Engine, I might port it to Jaguar CD then -
Jaguar Hybrid CD, also compatible PC CD-ROM and TurboGraphX !
Orion_ replied to Orion_'s topic in Atari Jaguar
Otto1980 > The PC CD-ROM use a standard ISO9660 file system (on session 1) The PC Engine CD use the first 32k of data of the ISO format (not used by ISO9660 file system) This could also be used for Sega Mega CD ! The Jaguar CD use a multi session disc, with whatever data on session 1, and Jaguar specific data on session 2. It seems like the encryption or boot process of the jagcd don't care about what are stored on session 1 =) -
Jaguar Hybrid CD, also compatible PC CD-ROM and TurboGraphX !
Orion_ replied to Orion_'s topic in Atari Jaguar
Because gamers of all forums ask me to do so They prefer professionallypressed CD rather than CD-R. But I agree, doing pressed CD is more expensive because you must produce at least 300 CDs, and even with good sales, you will sell half of them on Jaguar. For my next Jaguar CD productions I will do professionally burned CD-R, to produce less and avoid keeping 150 un-sold cds in my room. But, if the same CD can be boot on multiplaforms, then, more people will buy it (jaguar fans, pc engine fans, and why not atari falcon fans) so producing 300 CDs or more won't be a problem, because all the CDs could be sold to various community -
I created an Hybrid CD, that can be booted on Jaguar CD, a TurboGrafX Super CD-Rom (also known as PC Engine), and that can also be used in a standard PC computer !! Proof of concept video here: https://vimeo.com/100313166 question: would you be ok to buy a Game on an hybrid CD like this ? So we could do a large batch of the same pressed CD for multi platform use !

This won't lead to a final release, Torlus already made several consoles and computers in fpga, and they never got past the "it's running on my fpga card !" status. Until someone else take his work and release a final product. I know someone else working on a similar but improved project, It might be released in the form of buying an already made "cheap" fpga card + a jaguar input/output adaptator, and you will have a new powerful-er jaguar/cd combo. but who knows when this is will be released... we can still hope.

the CD version is freely downloadable...

As I probably won't produce cartridges anymore, I'm releasing the ROM of my "Orion_'s Jaguar Collection" cartridge version for free ! I guess you can flash it on a skunkboard (not tested), or play it on the Virtual Jaguar Emulator ! Also, I updated the CD version to a DiscJuggler .CDI file, it will be easier to burn than the previous Nero .NRG file. Download it here : http://onorisoft.free.fr/jag/jag.htm

really nice !!

I can't believe what I see at 3:18 ! and also the sound seems to have bugs, that might be reading error from the JagCD do you have the same problem on other games ?
-
Elansar should be available hopefully in one month. Regarding the storyline, I made a quick summary of Elansar at the beginning of Philia (for those who didn't play). So that may be spoiler to people who didn't play Elansar and want to play ! else, I would say there is not much trouble if you didn't play Elansar, but you will find similar place (especially at the end of Philia) so that may be worth playing Elansar first

Is there any title difference between Iron Soldier II cart and CD ? I don't think so but the CD version has cinepak video etc... so I guess, the difference for Elansar CD, is that you can read "for Jaguar CD" on the cover Here the detailed list of difference between Elansar Cart and CD: -Added Orion's logo video -Added Elansar Intro Video -Added Elansar Ending Video -Added Memory Track save support -All the "in game" picture have better quality (Ordered-dither 8x8, 16bits [R5 G6 B5]) (Cart version is Jpeg like, flat 16bits without dithering) -Added the "monkey island" easter egg (like in original Elansar version) -Modified the "plant" item graphic, because it had holes in the contour. -Removed the Mouse adapter support. (because I have a bug in my DSP realtime IMADPCM decoder when adding Mouse reading support) Anyway I don't think this option was much used... -Fixed the NTSC image cut problem in the inventory screen (save icon moved a bit down, and item text description moved a bit up)
-
At the time I made Elansar, I didn't know how to test in NTSC mode, now I can test. The text in the bottom inventory screen was readable but half cut. I fixed this by putting the text a bit up, and the save icon a bit down, so this is fixed. I will post in the dedicated Elansar topic the list of difference between the cart and the CD version.
-
For people waiting Elansar, I finally made the decision to port it to Jaguar CD. It will be easier to produce than cartridge. Also it will feature Cinepak Videos, better image quality, and support of Memory Track. Soon to be released along with my puzzle game Yopaz
