      Then how do you explain when you close your eyes in a lighted room that you see a lighter shade of black than if you close your eyes in a dark room?

      Oh, probably billions of photons hit the retina when your eyes are closed. Even in darkness. I'm saying that IF no photons hit the retina, are you still seeing?
