  1. The nearest Fry's is in Wilsonville (about 30 miles from me), and I don't have a membership to Costco. Thanks for the info. I plan on going to the local Toys-R-Us this weekend. Believe it or not, I still can't find Pac-N-Roll! BTW, Austin Texas was the final Jeopardy! answer last night, and I got it.

  2. Made by Sega in 1995, Super Columns is just one of the many games based on Strat-O-Gems.

I know you were facetious with the above, but I started work on what would become Strat-O-Gems, based on a PC game entitled Columns, back in 1994. An examination of the present code and the 1994 code would reveal the similarities.

So Puyo Pop is a rip-off of Columns?

I'm sorry, I didn't know people were working on homebrew Atari 2600 games in 1994. I thought the only homebrew 2600 game back then was Edtris.

I must mention that the first homebrew game I'll buy will be Strat-O-Gems.

EDIT: I guess my wording was off. It should have read "it was one of the games that Strat-O-Gems was based on."

  3. Welcome back Atari2600land.You were missed.Whens GoSub hitting the AtariAge store.I want to get a copy of it as well as a copy of Eric Ball's Skeleton Plus.Look forward to your next blog.

Mike & I are still working on GoSub. As for when it'll be finished, it'll probably be around February or March. And check out my newest blog for a game I'm working on, which is the one that'll be after GoSub (that is, if people like it.)

  4. A game I have and enjoy! It sure beats wearing those stupid bowling shoes and the guy working there putting you right next to the other person playing even when the rest of the lanes are open (why do they do that?) Also, it's on the 2600, which means it's on my favorite system! I also couldn't get a 7-10 split. And you know what, it's better than Elf Bowling.

  5. I bet you have 'The Jungle Book' then. I played it on an emulator once and really enjoyed it, what with all the secret codes, you don't even need a Game Genie to have fun with it! From what I understand, it was made in 1994 and really rare. I also enjoyed Wario's Woods, too. The only NES game I have from 1994 is Zoda's Revenge.

  6. You're right, I can't use missile0. That means the ping would have to be the color of the walls (playfield). And I don't want to get rid of no_blank_lines because then it would look crappy. I only have about 1K left in bank 1 (bank 2 is where all the mazes are stored in.), so I'll see how much memory is left after I put in the multiplayer races.

  7. Thanks for the suggestions. I've only been doing Batari Basic since June and it just amazes me how people know precisely how many bytes such and such action does. I'm not really all that good at math. In fact, I'm pretty amazed at what I've done so far in GoSub. How about this for a multiplayer thing? Have both subs go at once and have them race to the finish, maybe try to ram them in the walls or something? Of course the walls shouldn't be deadly, so how about them being sticky or something? I think having just one go is kinda harsh, given the difficulty of some of the later levels. The enemy thing is a good idea too, but the sub would have to be brown because I'm using missile1 for the treasure chest, and its ping would have to be black because I'd be using missile0 for an actual missile. I'll do some fiddling around with the program this week and see what I can do.
