  1. Since we're on the subject of German, I was wondering if someone could translate this to English. It's on a cup I found at a flea market.

"Es gibt tage, da bin ich nicht in der stimmung, angehimmelt zu werden" It's been puzzling me ever since I got the thing. On the front is Nermal rubbing on Garfield's stomach. What's even more interesting is the Garfield copyright notice is in English.

  2. Why do we even need a DVD format war? Why can't we have just one simple format for once? VHS won out big over Betamax. Sony beat the heck outta Nintendo and Microsoft (I know I'll get boos for saying that.) It surprises me how many people actually have $600 to spend on a system. Call me a cheapskate because I'm waiting for a Wii price drop! ;) (that and a Mario Kart game.) I saw people playing Excitetruck on Wii at an EB Games and it looks hard!

  3. Have you had any problems playing those old videotapes? I've been digitizing my wife's 100+ pre-recorded casette collection and I've come across several which squeak or are sticky and won't play properly. Apparently this is a known issue - basically the adhesive which is used to stick the magnetic particles to the actual tape can go bad or leak through. Some years, brands & formulations are worse than others, but no magnetic tape is safe - typical lifespan is around 10 years.

When it comes to playing them, I have no problems at all. Converting them to DVD however is another story. Some of the time, when I copy them to DVD, the picture jumps or half-seconds-worth don't record at all, which makes the end result look botched. I've made a couple tracks so botched up that I've had to erase them completely. Sometimes, it goes weird at different places. You'd think a company like Magnavox would make a better VHS to DVD recorder, but I didn't buy it, it was a present recieved at X-Mas last year. Now I bet those things are a dime a dozen ;) I should mention, however, that there have been a few tapes made in '95 that are so bad I had to throw them away.

  4. Hi Chris

what should i say?I like Gosub.I like this kind of game;really great. The screens are a little tricky, but not impossible.I wish,i could program in Batari Basic too.

    greetings Walter ;)

Thanks for the comments. :D I still have a few mazes left for this game that I still haven't thought up of yet. I've just been tinkering with the black and white settings and speed of the submarine. It's hard to think up of mazes for this type of game, but I think I can do it.

  5. I'm just talking about the games that star Yoshi. I have Super Mario Sunshine (in which you can ride Yoshi) and Mario Golf for Game Boy Color. Yoshi has been in every single sports title, party title and kart title, and I don't have the money to pick up 3 $20 N64 Mario Parties and 4 $40 Mario Parties for Gamecube (I don't even like Mario Party. I rented it once.) Also, I don't think I would like Super Smash Bros. (and there's 3 of those.) That's why I'm limiting it to games that star Yoshi (basically ones where you control Yoshi without Mario or have the word "Yoshi" in the title. I'll make an exception for Yoshi's Island.) I forgot about Yoshi's Safari and I don't have a Super Scope 6. Oh well. Anyway, Yoshi is a lot better than Barney, or Dino, or any other dinosaur I can think of. He's so cute.

  6. Well, it finally stopped bleeding and the Vicadin (I think that's what it's called) they gave me helped a lot. It still hurts to swalow, but now it's a dull pain. Of course I have to eat nothing but soft foods for the next week, and Ensure is kinda disgusting, even though it tastes like chocolate. Yesterday I had some mashed potatoes and today I need to start rinsing my mouth with salt water every couple hours and take the pills until they're gone. Geez what a hassle. :ponder:

  7. How about instead of using the playfield blocks, using player1 to look like a block? There can be a whole bunch of copies of player1 on the same screen, as the Space Invaders demo made with bBasic proved. Or would that be a case of no matter how many different colors you use, the flicker would be too horrible? BTW, where is this demo you're talking about at?

  8. The closest team I live near are the Portland Blazers! They wound up in last place last season. Ah well, basketball being my favorite sport to watch, I guess I'll just have to watch the Blazers lose some more until they get their act together. I went to a casino once, I lost about 25 cents total on video poker (won a dollar). Needless to say I only played for a few minutes. But I still like playing the Caesar's Palace and Golden Nugget Casino video games. BTW, I have Casino and Slot Machine for the 2600.

  9. Thanks for the feedback! :lust: I know the flicker is like something found in Pac-Man, but I just don't know how to create 5 moving things without it. And you can't draw sprites very good with the playfield in Batari Basic, because the playfield in Basic is just a bunch of blocks, and that wouldn't look good, either. The playfield would have to look something like this:

    ..XXX...XXX...XXX...XXX...XXX..

    ..XXX...XXX...XXX...XXX...XXX..

    ..XXX...XXX...XXX...XXX...XXX..

And that's just if they're lined up. That, and the lines on the playfield now would disappear. I'm planning to change the quandors from just a bunch of lines to something that resembles a sprite from Space Invaders. (Of course the Qix from Qix is just a bunch of lines) Also, I think I will have them move at different speeds. BTW, Bobby's game is way cooler than this. This was just an experiment.

  10. So how will this game change between now and when the game is finished? How about implementing a life system, and once the timer gets to 0, the game doesn't end, but you just don't get any points for clearing the floor.
