What computer do you have them connected to? I think XL has a resistor or some such on power line to sio port that may interfere with Sio2SD. James

This is my version 1.2 i got from original rom. indusgt12.rom James

The rom floating around out there marked as v 1.4 is actually version 1.1. Don't use it. it does have its problems. James https://atarionline.pl/v01/index.php?ct=utils&sub=9.%20ROM-y&tg=BIOS-y%20-%20stacje%20dysk%C3%B3w#BIOS-y%20-%20stacje%20dysk%C3%B3w Look for v 1.2. I haven't looked but my indus.hex is V 1.1

Just bought an 800xl - What is this mod?
sup8pdct replied to BuckoA51's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Re that chip socket. I would say they used a socket with extended pins as it was easier to get then a header. James -
How did you do that? I have dissembled the USD rom, 1st thing the rom does is to check for the ram module. No module = no run. There is an DD upgrade that doesn't add extra ram. Rather unknown one from eastern Europe. Cannot remember name tho. James

Sparta Dos X Formatter with the Black Box
sup8pdct replied to SoulBuster's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I believe that Kyle22 has got it right. if the sdx formatter sees a byte where it it doesn't expect it to be, it will not see it properly. Would it be possible for you to give us the percom block of the Hd partition in question? James Edit. I know the SDX formatter works with MIO 16 meg partitions. -
Help Identify Strange 800 OS and RAM cards
sup8pdct replied to Paul Westphal's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers

Help Identify Strange 800 OS and RAM cards
sup8pdct replied to Paul Westphal's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Superdos should show a density in 5+.that is ramdisk. pressing 5 should give a directory listing of the ramdisk. If using superdos, you can save the rom out to a file for others to look at. Superdos is designed to be a direct replacement for dos 2. James James -
Help Identify Strange 800 OS and RAM cards

Ram card looks like it may have ram expansion like Axlon . Try booting superdos or SDX on it. James -
Please! Can we have one more Incognito run?

I just wish he would fix mine. Has had it for 11 months now...................... James -
I this case, Xl is running a judging program I wrote, collecting scores from 3 judges and displaying the result on a display not shown. Screen keeps stats etc. One laptop displays pics to be judged, 2nd laptop has database to collate scores. Must wait for xl to get show score before anything else happens. I did have a modified keyboard plugged into joystick ports so xl would enter scores into database directly but it started to act up. James

Naaa, the laptops had the legal virus (windows) on them, so couldn't form anything that would work... James

Little something i was doing last night. James

I personally have used Superdos 5.1 with my XF551 drives formatted double sided, so i cannot understand why it won't work for you. An unmodified xf551 is required tho ie original atari rom. The double sided format is very similar to dos2.5 with its enhanced format. ie a second VTOC and Directory. AFAIK, only Superdos 5.1 has this format type.If this disk is put into a single sided drive, the files stored solely on side one can still be read. Superdos of all variants is dos 2 compatible. Dos XE has its own format incompatible with everything else like atari dos 3. Finding a dos that can read all known atari formats doesn't exist. closest would be latest sparta tho addins will need to be written to read other formats James

Did you get it from here? http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/Pooldisk/CD1/BRADFORD/or similar? Also other places as well I remember typing that out years ago from the original paper sheets and putting it out there James

Looking at the code, T version sets the high bit of port A to output. Is there a ram expansion that uses this bit?? James
-
I plugged the rom into a cart board, put it in to my XL and used a monitor to copy selected parts then did a load from the switching address and read selected bits again. Easy James
-
Just compared dos 4.3 and 4.3T. T has extra code in ramdisk handler and other differences that don't make sense. Thus making it different from about $A10 on. No idea who did that. Sdup and Tdup would be similar as expected. Will need to find the matching AUX.SYS file for 4.3T. James
-
Dont know about 4.3T Here is superdos 4.3 complete with AUX.SYS and SBAS.SYS James supdos4_3.atr

Nice list but superdos 4.3 is missing James

All 8 bit ones. superram, supermon, printmon , superled. across all 8bit platforms except XEGS and whatever wasn't available in australia. nothing for the 810. Only received source for superdos.none of the others. I have sereral most of the boards. Will visser kept the st ones namely supermon cart and ram upgrades. I also have roms for the Hackers delight (John Nicholls) monitor and 1 board. It is 800 only. It has built in eprom burner software used with a burner kit done by an electronics mag in early 80's James
-
Superdos is the matching software. 4.3 and earlier was supermax exclusive. 5.1 included format routines to support USD format commands. SuperMax is a USD clone but it doesent support the USD format command. It came with an 8k rom, 1/2 had a std 1050 rom to support copy protected disks as some wouldn't load with supermax rom. When i got the rights to the 8bit line of super products, 1st thing i did was dissemble supermax and add in a USD format command, Added a small delay that fixed the protected software issue (USD had it, SuperMax didn't) and added a download command to read memory from anywhere in the memory map. I was thinking of adding a smart buffer read VTOC and directory sectors depending on the dos. but didn't get there. James

space was allowed for a 1772 but was never used. Either one or the other, not both can be used. The firmware can support either as documented in the field service manual. James
