Bump: Have galaxy s5 with android 5.0 Every time i select Planetary defence, it says "cannot prepare Planetary defense for boot :-(" What is wrong? James
-
I have seen a pic like that too. Did the 8031 version have a printer port provision as well? James
-
Any one have pics of one? All info i have found so far says nothing about a printer port. James

I must apologize for a gaff i made re rom version. Rom version is 2.16, not 1.61 Pays me not to double check and solely rely on memory. Me = no longer young James

I have dissembled taskmaster. The first thing taskmaster does is to turn off the BB rom. No other reference is made to BB rom or to BB hardware registers any where that I can find. It very strongly suggests that Taskmaster is a stand alone program. Maybe clearing ram from $400 to $97FF may help. James

It is from version 1.61. I have got it to read sector 65535 When you change disks, you will need to press the drive number of the disk that has changed so the program reads the percom block of the drive to know what size it is. [shift] drive number sets destination drive. Taskmaster does have problems even when run from the BB menu. James

DosXE Uses XF551 high speed for DSDD. All other drive types are at normal speed. It is most likely that SIO2SD doesn't support XF551 high speed. Unlike most high speed SIO that is in common use, the XF requires the command sent at normal speed (19200) with high bit set then the data frame sent/received at close to 38000. I have pulled apart DosXE a little and it may be possible to setup a special drive type for that size and use high speed that SIO2SD can use. There is a thread here somewhere where i made a DOSXE format program to make any size disk and set drive type, however,DosXE isn't good as the sector bit map is buffered in memory always for each drive in use. Too many large disks and you will run out of memory. James Edit. I think this is it. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/154173-bored-so-i-did-this-part-2/?hl=%2Bdosxe+%2Bformat+%2Bprogram&do=findComment&comment=1894629

I have been messing with the Black Box rom and have managed to extract Task master disk editor and save it as a stand alone program. Please note that it will kill any dos as it was never meant to be loaded from dos, but it does exit with a cold boot. Use XL/XE os and no basic. It may with other os but haven't tested it. task.atr James

As promised, battleship basic game. Bit of history. My Cousin Peter Bradford wrote this in 81-82 on a Atari 400 with cassette drive. He originally named the ships as per there size, ie Aircraft carrier, battleship etc but remembering what size the ships are was troublesome. So he changed there names from 1 to 5. To Place ships, select position with joystick and press button. Direction is, straight up is 1, up-right diagonal is 2, right is 3 etc. The rest should be easy enough to work out. Can you hear beeps in the 1st 20 seconds? Beep is audio feedback that data is being transferred to/from drive. Sounds like drive isn't reading the disk at all. Is time to pull drive apart start checking things. Does the pressure felt pad on top push disk on to head? There isn't much pressure required but it is needed. Check head is clean again. It doesn't take much dirt to stop things working. More in depth stuff is to reseat/swap chips, check power rails etc. James

How exactly does it come up with boot error? Does it wait a while then put message continuous loop? Does boot error come up quickly in a continuous loop with a buzzing type noise? Something else? Knowing this will give a clue as to where to start looking. James
