I know exactly where you are. Went to Penn State, and spent my summers in Jennerstown through school. Beautiful country out there. PM sent about the drive. Thanks, Mike
-
I've got a spare, and shipping from South Carolina wouldn't be too bad. How much are you looking to spend? Where in Pennsylvania are you from? I grew up in Clarion.

I'm looking for a 600XL in working condition. I can pay with PayPal, or trade for a U.S. Doubled 1050 Disk Drive. Please PM me if you have one to spare. Thanks, Mike

I've got one of those burners, and it's worked great for me. Doesn't include a power supply, but radio shack had the right one for ~$7.

I think it might be my ide adaptor...because i can't get these hard drives to work in a PC either. But on another note, I did get an IDE to CF adaptor, and it works with MyIDE. http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=21570 I'm ordering another 2.5" IDE adaptor today...and keep you posted. Thanks, Mike
-
The CF to IDE adaptor arrived today, and here's what I found: I plugged it in to the MyIDE along with a 64MB CF card I had. I boot the Atari and run scandisk...it recognizes a drive as being attached, and passed the scan...no problems. I then run fdisk, and again, it detects the drive. I set up a 16 MB partition, and go into MyDOS to set it up. It recognized a high-capicity drive on drive 2. So I initialize it, do a disk directory, and it shows free sectors! I then write DOS files to it, and they write. I then run fdisk again, set up the partition as drive 1, and boot directly to the partition on CF! So I've decided to build the CF adaptor into my 800XL...it's smaller and will use less power than a hard drive. And I can cut a slot in the back to change CF cards as needed.

You're probably right, but I've been looking for one of these anyway. Besides, if it does work, that saves me from buying more 2.5" drives, since the 3 I have don't seem to work with MyIDE....
-
We shall soon find out... If it doesn't work, i can always build a windows ce desktop out of the spare parts i have laying around.

In grade school I had a Dukes of Hazard lunchbox. Ah....memories.

Anyone find a good 2.5" drive to use with MyIDE? I've tried 3, and none work with it. I'd like to use one so I can mount it inside an 800xl, and there's not much room in there. Anyone have any luck with this? Thanks, Mike

Know what kind of memory upgrade this is?
AtariGuy replied to AtariGuy's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Hmm...they could be. tried to pry them up, but they're glued on pretty good. Thanks, Mike -
It's some sort of homebrew 256k upgrade, but it's on a non-working 800XL. Anyone know the details? Or seen one before? Thanks, Mike

Looking to buy some odyssey 2 carts....
AtariGuy replied to General Atarian's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I've got a boxed Speedway/Spin-out/Crypto-Logic and a loose Alien Invaders-Plus They're pretty common, but if anyone wants them.... -
Installing the OS was easy...I have an 800XL that has a 6-socket 'daughterboard' for OS e/proms. It had an empty socket, so it was just a matter of plugging it in and flipping a switch. If you have some decent soldering skills, it's easy to add a second OS... http://home.wanadoo.nl/mr.atari/dual-os.htm I'm just tinkering with the partitioning for now...that's the problem with moving...you can't find anything. That 2.5" converter is in a box somewhere...I think I'll dig around my storage unit during lunch today. If you want more info on the multi-OS 800xl I have, here's the page, although it's not finished yet. http://www.atariguy.com/atari/800xl.html Thanks, Mike

This thing is GREAT!! Got it setup as an external now, running the MyIDE OS on eprom. I'm eventually going to make it internal, but need to decide what to put it in...a 1200XL with the kick-a$$ keyboard or the 800XL with 256K RAM upgrade... I found the instructions to be very straight-forward and easy to understand. Had it up and running quickly, except that i had to use a 3.5" hard drive...couldn't find my 2.5" IDE converter. Copied a bunch of games and other programs to it, and they run fast!

The MyIDE interface I ordered a few weeks back arrived today..... Time to PLAY!!!! Mike

Graphics are better, but I think gameplay is the same...

Steve Tucker's APE Warp+ OS...I have an 800XL with it installed, and absolutely love it. It provides high speed communication to the SIO. Here's a link to it: http://www.atarimax.com/apeos/index.html

I found this on the internet.... http://www.telusplanet.net/public/pairman/...n/1200xlkb.html

I have Steve Tucker's Ape Warp in an 800XL....it's great! And since I grew up with the 800XL, I don't notice the mushy keyboard too much. But, that 1200XL keyboard is wonderful!

I have a 1200XL with an 800 operating system....here's the link to the mod: http://www.atarihq.com/atcomp/1200os.html It's pretty simple, but you need some soldering skills. This mod is great because you get that 1200XL keyboard with 800 compatibility and 64K of RAM.

I'm auctioning my boxed 800XLF "Rose" computer on ebay. It would make a great item for you collectors out there. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=1950338290

I purchased this programmer: http://www.futurlec.com/EPROMProg.shtml It does most 27 series EPROMS, and the price was right for me. Plugs into the parallel port of a PC, and comes with a windows 9x GUI. It takes a 10v power source, which I picked up at radio shack for $7. Don't know if it'll fit your needs, but so far it's worked for mine.

If your television has a composite video input, the RCA jack on the back of your XE Game System labeled 'Monitor' is composite out. It gives a much sharper picture than using RF.

One of my favorites! I used to play it quite a bit, and still load it up from time to time.
