Actually, it's the same issue facing Canadian Sega Master System items: toy-maker Irwin was the distributor instead of the actual console maker, hence the hunt for impossible-to-find info on the item and the fact that it's completely unknown from most American collectors. Thanks so much for the info and the pictures, and I agree that the cart-holding design is dumb!

Through a high school friend, I got this vintage Atari 3-game binder. Even though the logo is faded, we can still make out that it's from the Warner era (not really visible on our pic, but it's under the Atari logo). There's also a small Atari logo on the top of the outer binding. We can't see any product number anywhere, and the only image I found online of this particular game binder didn't give out more info. Since there isn't any SKU, could it be a corporate item? Anyone knows anything about it? We're really curious. As you can see below, it can hold three Atari 2600 games, as well as some manuals, and closes shut with a clasp. Thanks!

Yesterday morning, we saw an ad on Kijiji (which is similar to Craigslist) where the seller was giving away an Atari 2600 4-switch with 50 games. Eric called, left a message. Since the guy wasn't calling back, I decided to call on my cell and talked to him. Turned out that someone else (a sumguy?) was even faster than us and had called just before Eric did. A few hours later, the seller called me back, saying that the guy never came over and that he really wanted to get rid of his Atari. Eric came back home a couple of hours later. There was indeed an Atari VCS 4 switch with several joysticks and paddles. Most of the games (all loose) were of the common type (Defender, E.T., Frogger, Plaque Attaque, etc.), usually with worn labels, but there was one gem in the lot, surprisingly clean and with an intact, unscratched label: Looks like Eric's stroke of thrifting luck (he recently found in the wild a CIB Chrono Trigger on SNES for $20, as well as CIB Final Fantasy III SNES for $10) is continuing...

Time to revive an old thread... I used to have Activision Anthology for the GBA, and later sold it. I already regretted doing so, and was looking to replace it. However, I recently bought a PSP and accidentally stumbled upon Activision Hits Remixed for $15 used, which I picked up. I like the fact that it includes the commercials as unlockables, but wish it was possible to add our own music playlist (just like the PS2 version, the music gets old fast). The only other qualm I really have is the screen ratio: either very small or stretched widescreen -- no 4:3 full-height option, which is mind-boggling. I still wonder why they didn't name it Activision Anthology -- it's not like it actually has remixed versions of games!

Which version of the Duracell rechargeable batteries did you get? If the top is black (and the packaging says "Made in China"), these are not so good. If the top is white and the packaging says "Made in Japan", these are rebranded Sanyo Eneloop batteries, which are excellent batteries. I use Eneloops only (including Duracell rebranded ones) for my 360 controllers (including Guitar Hero controllers) and they do last a long time.

Two books (one on Atari Inc. and one on Atari Corp.). Inc will be coming out sooner, and is actively advancing, but we're still vetting a lot of material and uncovering more material to answer questions to our satisfaction. Every question answered leaves another 5 uncovered it seems. Little parenthesis here while we're talking about Atari Corp.: will your book cover up to now, with the Midway IP going back to Warner Bros (and thus going full circle for the Atari Corp. part of what was Midway)?

You know, the problem with being a mod is that there's the "damn if you do, damn if you don't" mentality. We try to manage the forums as best as we can. The best real-world comparison would be sports referees: there too, as well as you try to apply the rules, there'll always be a loudmouthed coach who'll kick sand at you or what not just because he felt that YOUR call is wrong. I was at PhillyClassic 3, much more so as a member of AA and classicgaming.com and a contributor to Retrogaming Times than as a member of DP. It's really a shame that some people continue to perpetuate a conflict that actually concerns only a handful of people and that already goes back a few years. I continue to hope that one day, the hatchet will be buried. But Snider's right: the complaints coming from disgruntled banned DPers shouldn't be taken in as gospel about how much we sux0r. You read their posts and you'd think that my fellow DP admins (because mods don't have that power) browse the DP forums with their mouse button finger all ready to click on the Ban button, as if there was a daily or weekly quota of bans to be met. This is not the case. BTW, when someone gets banned over at several forums (I'm looking at you, fighter17), you gotta wonder how much of a positive contribution he makes in his postings. As for someone like jetset, I wonder why he comes back to post at DP if we suck so much. If I don't like a particular store or restaurant, I don't go there. Methinks the same would apply to websites.

What does Major League pitcher Masato Yoshii have to do with that seller? Anyway, it's a good thing that members' feedback to others is more accessible now on Ebay than before. Guys like that will be easier to avoid now.

Hmm, I have to clarify one thing, here: Dan is from Quebec, Canada, NOT France. I do have a pre-release copy of the game (released by Dan himself instead of GoodWillGames), which I got because I translated the instructions manual from French to English (translation is my field of work). I haven't tried the games yet (when I got the cart, I didn't have a CV, now that I do, I don't really have time to play much videogames). However, I find the principle behind that game collection in the same mindframe as the various Game and Watch Galleries on the GBC and GBA, minus the modernized remakes. And yes, I do like the G&W Galleries as well as Wario Ware. I think that calling this a collection of crap is bringing it too far. This is not, in any way, constructive criticism. Regardless of what you think of the game collection, a lot of hard work went into this. And even if you think that there are flaws in the collection, you could say so without being such an a-hole about it.

Regarding DP's forum: they just moved to a new forum and are still ironing it out. That's why there are still slight problems occuring here and there (as well as the server crash that was finally fixed yesterday). As for bashing John Harding, I don't understand why. He's a nice guy, even though he might not seem that accessible at first (that's just a question of getting to know him).

Sylentwulf did bid on his stuff, and so did some others (dunno if it's someone from here or from the Digital Press board, or both). Hopefully, no one will actually bid above the reserve level by accident (I wouldn't dare trying bidding on it, just in case...). Anyway, as fun as the rigging goes, it still gives that guy the impression that someone's seriously interested and that he is right to set such high prices. One thing's for sure: he does show signs of being an asshole.

Yeah, it was funny how SnapOn tools were having the top billing way over PhillyClassic (those SnapOn people were everywhere!).
