  1. Oh, and Flap-Ping (FlapPing?) is a fine, fine title. Run with it! No copyright problems there, huh?
  2. And, furthermore, I'll apologize to Albert and everyone else for being so hasty. Geez. I've been doing this for too long -- I don't think a thing about pestering people anymore.
  3. Actually, I'll agree with that 100 percent.
  4. Who said "hassle?" PR folks are there to answer questions from the public. Am I assuming to much in thinking people from this forum will take a civil tone when addressing someone representing Atari? God, I hope not. And, I've dealt with their PR person a time or two. Quite helpful. I'm not going to ask her about this for the reason you've hinted at -- I'm one of those media types, and I doubt AA needs the attention.
  5. Don't know if this helps, but here's the e-mail of the PR person for Atari in the U.S.: [CENSORED] = Karen Schachter. Believe me, if you start bugging PR types, they let the folks in charge know if there's an image problem to deal with (seen it happen a hundred times in my line of work). Like I said, don't know if that'll do any good, but who can tell?
  6. That Atari "fad" ended about 20 years ago. Think about it. Even though the 2600 is allegedly gaining in popularity, how many people do you know who actually collect for the system? We're still few and far between, to be sure.
  7. What's that? Sega shooting themselves in the foot? The hell you say! I suppose I'll always be a Sega fan, due to the fact I think so highly of the Dreamcast and Genesis. But, those rascals could sure make some boneheaded decisions. Geez.
  8. Hear, hear! And, the ability to play Colecovision and Atari 5200 games with good controllers is a kick, isn't it? I still play my Dreamcast very regularly. Honestly, I'd argue the generation of 128-bit systems which came after the DC are more advanced, but (as it's been pointed out in this thread), the system wasn't around long enough to really be pushed to its limits, either.

    OKGE 2004!

Interesting. You know, any day I go out game hunting and come home empty handed is what my wife considers a good day

    OKGE 2004!

Nope. Not around here. I already bought it. Of course, I'm kidding

Thanks! I wish it would have been longer. Hard hitting questions, huh. I can see it now... "A group of Atari fans at Oklahoma Gaming revealed the truth about that Yarusso character..."

    OKGE 2004!

Heh. Probably. I think we're on Version 6.0 now, aren't we?

How odd. Works fine for me -- you're using the Adobe PDF viewer, right?

    OKGE 2004!

Finally, the PDFs on the OKGE article got posted. Here are the links: http://www.nwamorningnews.com/pdfarchive/2...-26-04%20D1.pdf http://www.nwamorningnews.com/pdfarchive/2...-26-04%20D6.pdf Glad they finally bothered to post them...

Wait! I got it! They'll have to change the name of the Bobby Harper Tunnel to the Earl Green Tunnel. Think of the fame. Hey, I'm not making fun. I live in Springdale, perhaps the least sophisticated area of the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers MSA, so I don't have any room to talk. The fact I love it hear makes things even worse. So, Messrs. Green and Green -- when we going out game huntin'? It'll have to be a bit to me due to my wife's surgery this week, but it sounds like a trip needs to be planned.

    OKGE 2004!

Sure thing. By the way, out somewhere between Alma and Mountainburg? Is that Chester or something? You live in that I-540 tunnel?

    OKGE 2004!

Not a problem. I had a great time, and getting to relate even part of my experience in the newspaper is a true thrill.

    OKGE 2004!

Went and "fixed" the HTML a bit so it's not such a pain to read the article. It's here: http://www2.arkansas.net/~ecnobles/Classic...t_Arkansas.html Not perfect, but it's better. Too bad the photo and fast fact box weren't published, but they'll be on the PDF and I'll post that when I can.

    OKGE 2004!

By the way, I hope you picked up an actual copy -- you'd see they led the biz section with the "classic gaming" article and even teased to it from the front page of the paper (complete with a photo, too). You'd also notice a "fast fact" box with a number of sites listed, including Atari Times and a couple run by some maniacs -- called particles and Phosphor Dot Fossils, something like that. I did notice they stripped my headline off the fast fact box and replaced it with an innacurate title -- "Game Suppliers on the Web." Oh, well. Can't say I'm completely pleased with how it came out, but it'll do. I usually only have to worry about edits when I write something too long. That's precisely what happened here.

    OKGE 2004!

Hey, you're local! Go buy out the newspaper stands Doesn't look like the PDF archive has been updated with the Sunday stuff yet. Furthermore, the "Southwest Times Record" site hasn't been updated at all. Amazingly, we've got a couple of people in charge of putting the articles on the Web. You'd think they'd get it right. Oh, well.

    OKGE 2004!

And, now, even the site is messing up. Here's the direct link to the article: http://www.nwaonline.net/archive/2004/09/2...ess/292624.html Grrr....

    OKGE 2004!

By the way, that will appear in both "The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas" and our sister paper, "The Southwest Times Record" in Fort Smith, Ark. Both have a combined circulation of around 90,000 on Sunday. Hey, not "New York Times" numbers, I realize, but I thought someone might be interested.

    OKGE 2004!

Well, the article's up. If you want to see it, head on over to http://www.nwaonline.net and click the "Classic Video Games in Demand" link in the Northwest Arkansas Business section. They seem to be having some HTML issues tonight (I hope they'll resolve them soon) and the article isn't as complete as I wanted it -- had to lead off with the stuff about what Atari and Radica are up to, see. Also, it's not as long as I wanted it -- I wanted about 60" of copy, but I only got 45". Oh, well. I'll post the PDFs tomorrow when they're available (or, I'll link to them, at least -- we're not supposed to quote full article, right ) Again, I hope I got it right!

    OKGE 2004!

Indeed, the OKGE article is FINISHED and will run in The Morning News on Sunday. I'll post a link after it shows up on the Web. I got quite a bit of room, but not enough to include everything in the article I wanted to. Hope I got it right, at least.

Hey, I'm just as bad, so don't worry. You'll come off fine in print when a little trademarked "Hawg Magic" is utilized. I can ramble about classic games, too, but I had to be all professional and such on Saturday as I was on company time. Not a bad gig, really -- got some games I needed for free, essentially, as them newspaper folk will compensate me for my time there, mileage and etc. Ah, yes, there's nothing like spending a pocket full of cash while knowing you'll get it back from your employer in a week or two. Again, great show. Jesse and his wife, Angel, were outstanding hosts and I can't thank them enough for being so kind to me. The only problem is this -- after finally buying "Star Fire" and playing it for hour after hour, I'm kind of addicted to homebrews. Thank God I have an understanding wife
