Ok, all! Some of you will probably faint, now; so be warned! Although my Falcon is *very* functional, and it is *still* a Falcon, I need to find him a proper -hmmm- nest. here we go! The pictures are grainy, since I did not use a flash, and I did not set properly the camera, but I think you got the idea...
-
IIRC, if you switch on by pressing the right shift, it should bypass almst everything and have a clean desktop.
-
OK, then. I think I need to show you what a mess^H^H^H artwork is my current Falcon setup... I'll take a couple of pictures and then I will prepare for the roasting you'll do to me

Just thinking that I have so many choices, that my CT60 Falcon sits completely naked (AAAARGGHHHH!) on my desktop, with keyboard interface (eiffel) hanging here and the PSU hanging there, and an old mouse used as powerbutton hanging somewhere else, and ... What I'd like to do is making (well, letting some professional make) a [what's the name of that plastic-like transparent stuff] case that suits my Falcon in an horizontal fashion (no towers).

Thanks Jens, but Bnet has been a NO-GO! I don't actually know why, but I tried everything came in my mind to make it work: using gluestick, using plain stik-sting, using both. Maybe it is because of MiNT, maybe not. However, now I am used to this additional step of printing to a file, hoping that one day the lp command will see the light on MiNT. Same goes with LPR, that suold actually be the ST version of LP, but it only works on Sting, and I coudn't use it with Gluestik. There were MiNT libraries in the works, but nothing happened :-(

Still, don't forget, that you can switch on an ST, lauch Papyrus, do awesome things that that other wordprocessor can only dream of, print the job, turn it off, and wait that the other box finally complete its startup sequence. No kidding!

What do you mean with "anything running"? I have a fully working EtherNat: I am on a Mac+Linux+PC local network and I read and write to all shared devices using NFS (under MiNT) I just can't print, since there isn't a port of the lp unix command on MiNT, so I have to print to a file, and then print it with lp fron another box. HTTP also works great (CAB 2.5 and Highwire) as well as FTP

Would you want another American Hero game?

Just to quote Linko, will there be naked ladies? (Hey Link, aren't we married? Shane on us!) Ouch! *just being slapped by Wife* :-) -
Hey, all! Please don't close this thread to dev-only status! I like to read it, even though I am not a developer at all. Ciao!
-
Just as a side note, I think someone should update the Wikipedia article, since it doesn't mention (in the "versions" section) the soon-to-be port to Jaguar, while it reports instead a lot of "unofficial ports"

Peter, I was waiting for a review. Thank you. You know, it is really appreciated when attendees at some Jagfest post their reviews for us unlucky non-attendees :-) And I must tell that this year we had a lot of fests an a serious lack of reviews. Maybe there was some catalyst missing (TAT, MyAtari.net, ...), but I didn't find lots of reviews as seen in latest years. So, Tank You!

Well, there are lots of shortcuts for the desktop environment, but I think this is better with new versions (1.0 maybe laks a lot of them) The shift+select issue is a feature (better say a distraction), that in later versions has been taken care of.

Since we are at it, jens, can you please edit my setup in order to note that my EtherNat is here, and it is up and running great? Thanks!

You can bet you won't be able to email it! Such large files are not SMTP jobs. More like FTP kind of stuff. This means that if you put it in some "http://www.somewhere" location, you could just give people a link to that file in order to make it downloadable.

Here! A beer to Gunstar! He shares my thoughts. I would also add that allowing communications between an ST and a PC or a Mac has always been here. I have my Falcon sharing the Internet connection in my office LAN, and have a Windows and a Mac share mounted on it so I can use the files sitting on my file server and use them directly in my Falcon

I do have a mega 4 STe. It is sitting on a shelf, though, since my Falcon is more used. I plan on turning it on again, sooner or later. Otherwise I'll search a better home for it.

New ST owner with a couple of questions
Paolo replied to Lord Thag's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
About mouse: I'd suggest, in the meanwhile you get a *true* Atari mouse, tu use a serial mouse, with a little program (mouse2.x IIRC) that emulates an atari mouse. I don't have it right here, but you'll find pretty easily. -
It is not considered 3D since there is no 3d engine at works. It is like Super Burnout

(this discussion is continuing on the atari.st usenet group) Unfortunately, it seems that there is no MOUNT for Mint. Only smbclient :-( there is this sharity-light program, though, and I am triyng to understand it. Hoping...

Hi everybody! I finally managed to setup my brand new Ethernat on MiNTnet. It works like a charm, but remember to put the LAN plug first (I lost half an hour triyng to figure out what wasn't working...). Now that I have network connectivity (pinging, browsing and all) I'd like to mount a share available on my NT server instead of FTPing it. I read a lot of docs while setting up MiNTnet, and now I forgot where I searched in the first place. So: Can you please tell me what is the procedure to mount (let's say as drive M:) a windows shared disk in my CT60+EtherNat+MiNT. I remember that Samba is involved, but I can't remember the whole lot. Thanks

Please, do tell!!! How do I boot in compatibility mode. This is my first Mega STE system. So I'm still learning. One more thing, my mega ste goes into a black screensaver mode. I had no idea it could do this! How do I change or shut it off? -Rick As I told you, I can't really remember, but it was something in the line of "hold right shift while booting" or " "hold CTRL key while booting" or "hold ESC" or "TAB"... You got the idea. Sorry, I can't even try it right now.
-
Hey, Zeptari1! Maybe you should boot Xenon in compatibility mode, that is without blitter and at 8MHz. Can't remember the exact keystroke for that, though, since it is loooong time I don't boot my STe that way.

I think that the best way is ti build a switcher yourself. IIRC, the atari 'senses' the resistance on the plug to understand what device is connected.

Beginner's MIDI setup for 520STfm
Paolo replied to NightSprinter's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
It's another type of program. there are progs for several synthetizers out there. Just check Tim's MIDI world as stated in one of the first posts. -
Did you check the "change video resolution" menu? Is it still the same?
