  1. not from me right now. I just burnt a coaster :-P

CJ, I don't know if it has been my fault or what. I'll burn another two or three tomorrow, and I'll let you know.

I must say that usually I don't need more than one coaster before a good one (excepted for Downfall! where I made a mistake)

  2. Linkovitch, fact is that nowadays we sometimes spend 0,79{your favourite currency} for what are often stoopid bad-made reproductions of old classics, or we just play cheesy flash games.

Then we have this crop of talented atari-loving individuals. Even the most rushed and unfinished piece of code is surely better than that (and we have loads of unfortunately unfinished gems that testify this).

So, go LinkoVitch! (and add a time+score leaderboard, hehe)

  3. Come on, Linko! CDs are cheap. We can afford to burn a couple ;)

Put that Reboot-ULS thingie on and throw a disk image at us!!!

EDIT: LinkoVitch, your website is somehow messed up. This message appears:

LinkoVitch has screwed up again.. someone please tellhim!

  4. questions:

    how big is the screen?

did you connect it as RGB?

did you use only the buttons of the jagpad or also the PCB (I hear a click that lets me think you used something else)?

    battery specs?

    any other spec? :)

    thank you.

Oh, just curious: what is the price range? More or less.

  5.

Or buy your son his own Memory Track ;)

...or allow a "enter your initials" line when setting an hi score *hint* ;)

oh, oh... and maybe adding a scoreboard, since you are releasing a 1.1 version anyway, hehe!!!

(I am kidding of course, the current 'just the highscore' line has a nice retro feel)

  6. I left this thread for a few hours, and my son asked me to post something about adding memory track support, when I find the whole argument already taken care of. wow!

So you say I have to check and reseat the memory track? I'll have a look at it.

  7. I must say that I burnt two coasters at first, but it was my fault. Then I burnt a good one, but I had some trouble to let it start, and it is weird, since I already made other Reboot/jagware discs and I never had problems...

However. This is a great game.

But let me spend a couple of words.

A few months ago, I learnt about PioneerOne, a free-to-download sci-fi series that is growing and shaping well, and it is funded by the viewers. They also have a meter on their site.

I use to buy shareware, and I know that even a couple of euros do help, but seeing that money meter a PioneerOne and seeing people giving just 1, 5, 10 dollars constantly made me feel stronger to the convintion that *any* dollar counts.

I said all this just to incourage everybody who liked the game to Paypal these guys some bucks. It really counts.

And now excuse me, but I feel the urge to put my money where my mouth is.

Why dont somebody crack the shit and get into "namless" carts and sell them for a normal price as like checkerd flag prices.. I would buy such cart :P

whats the point with rare games that is hard to get? for me rare is meant by two points.. publishing trouble (which is very sad if the titles actually was good).

or... they were so crap nobody bought them when they were able to get bought.. or 3rd.. to expensive from the beginning and not as good worth the money.

So in all cases my vote is, that it is ok to make copys of these into nameless carts in workin condition. as these days, make able to survive in time for nostalgic users.

I do respect the resellers. So the reselling titles could be skipped out in this post. *hint hint*. (for those who dont understand my point, reselling titles is not RARE titles. ).

    // Marcer

As they would say on Slashdot: You must be new here ;-)

    Just kidding.

I would see it differently: I'd prefer that the developers just decide to stop this price madness ad release the game for distribution.

However, *first disclaimer* they can do what they like; *second disclaimer* I was there from the get-go, so I am well aware of the whole story; *third disclaimer* I bought BSG in the first run, and I only really love the star raiders mode and the cooperative playing; *fourth disclaimer* I still thing that the game has been a huge programming effort, wehter you like the results or not.

  9. How weird! this is the exact very thing I did by myself as custom-made RGB cable. In my case, I did the short cable thing in order to connect my stereo speakers, that at the time had an audio cord with 3.5 stereo jack. So I made the short cable with a 3.5 female stereo jack hanging out the connector going to the L/R audio pins on the Jag.

In your picture I can't see the plug type, maybe is something similar?

  10. Great! Now, by toying with those numbers, you could also have a response more suited to one's needs. Too bad I'll not have the chance to burn a cartridge with the mod, and I can't see a JagCF yet :-(

I somehow like the game (just a little, mind you :) )

  11. Ah, the entropy!

After all, nowadays it's everything like that:

got more memory? let's fill it up with $useless_data !

got more processing power? let's write unoptimized code!

got more bandwidth? flash ads all the way!

By the way, back then 14.4 was a great speed for those who could afford such a modem and a capable POTS line.

I remember falling back to 9600 most of the times (can't remember the exact year, though...)
