    Jag Potential

NOnononono! Why should you corrupt a collection adding SC3D? I'ts very sad that they made that piece of crap. Jag needed a cross motorbike game, and now there isn't any. Who knows, if the source comes out, and some skilled guys (T'bird, Carl, Lars...) take it and toy with it a bit... ...
  2. I understand your statement. US is a *huge* country and you can find a lot of different situations, going from highly populated square feets to lowly populated square miles. Here in Europe the thing is generally different. Each country is small in respect to an US state, and since we didn't born as a federation, each one strieves to be autosufficient (is that the right word?). This thig leads to a higher density of almost everything, even in the smaller cities. So, althoug we are always a bit late in technology in general, there is a lot of room for hobbyists for their experiments. Hopefully one day they will become professionals, and they'll go to the States where somebody will fund their innovative ideas... Hey, what were we talking about? Cheers. Paolo

    BattleMorph!

Curious! I had the "clean disk" problem only two times, and this was at the very first days of playing. Recently I didn't have that problem anymore. Funny,Jag CDs are like the wine, the older they get, the better they are:-) TSkid, it happened to my second level, just like you, but I already had a memory track and I didn't really worried (gameplay-wise, at least)!
  4. I'm lined up! BTW, can you remind me about the resolution issue? what encoder did (will) you use? Paolo (dreaming of hi-scores at T2K)
  5. Aaahh1 The Tetris clone is one of those I asked the regcode for. I was really really sorry that I didn't receive it, since the game was really amazing. Now that I know why, I am still more disappointed: when I thought the money was lost in the transoceanic delivery, well... But now that I know you could have received it if only I registered a bit earlier, mmmmmh Now that I know that you put your games in the Public Domain, I'll download all of them (I'm pretty sure I'll find them at LGD) Thanks
  6. D Munsie!!! I can't believe. In another thread someone asked if you were still around I am a great fan of your games. Back in the times when the internet wasn't for the 'standard people' I also registered a couple of softwares you coded! I can guess that the distance and the mail services made the rest, so I don't have any regcode (Oh how I wish there was Paypal back then) I really jumped off my seat when I read your name here! Tell everybody some more about you now. And, yes, I would still like to have those regcodes, and maybe some more. Bye!

    NBA JAM!

Ciao Tony! My problem with WMCJ is that it has AWFUL colours and a very stupid moving camera. Then, the animation is not that good and the resolution is quite low (and it shows since that stupid moving camerakeeps zooming in and out, showing bad details in the players). The controls are good, though, and it is quite fun to play in two (or more). But I can't stand the colours: it looks like there is very little light and everything has a grey component in it. Bye!

    NBA JAM!

Ciao Tony. If you send me your copy as a gift, I'll surely have a lot of fun with my own team tap adapter:-) A couple of weeks ago i lost an auction on NBA Well, I'll play WMCJ in the meanwhile Paolo
  9. If you want to try the "karaoke" feature, you can just go out and buy a karaoke CD, there are surely disks with your favourite music. But you can go further and try a program to create your own karaoke CDs, so you can do it everything yourself try this: www.dartpro.com Paolo
  10. The printers thing is a bit strange: in the first times the programs needed to ose their own printer drivers, so you can have better written drivers (or not) on each program you use. I tested a lot of those drivers and I found them working on my epson and hp printers. Then more complex programs came, with the need of colour outputs and hi-res text and graphics. So NVDI enter the scene. In newer programs, you don't have to use the old printers' drivers, nor write you own ones (that was possible in some programs), but use NVDI drivers, supporting TONS of printers, including the new ones, with the nicer features provided. BTW, HP printers keep the compatibility back to 550C, so when I have problems (and it is very VERY rare), I use the 550/550C driver with my 970Cxi and everything is great. www.nvdi.de is the place I can't remember if there is anything else for driving printers, I don't really need it. 11. IIRC, there was a major side-effect than the audio one, and it was the video thing: the video frequency changed so you could only play on monitors that allowed that strange vidseo frequency; but I think that this can be overridden too when overclocking just the CPU...
  12. I think that Tim's Atari Midi World is the place to visit! Atari and MIDI everywhere. http://tamw.atari-users.net then there is this french (but there is the english version) site full of Atari and MIDI, Musique.Atari.Org, very friendly http://atari.georezo.net/index.htm And then for your hacks, there is Vezz Atari Hacks http://atarihacks.cjb.net/ Have fun in this whole new world! Paolo P.S. you will find LOADS of ACCs (accessories) that tell you everything on the status of your ST, but we aren't on PCs now, and you don't really need to know much, here everything works fine :-)
  13. I am searching for Crazy dots, Matrix, Cyrel, Nova STe, you name it. All I want is that it fits the MegaSTe VME bus. Thanks
  14. just be sure that your drive can handle the correct reading and writing format (IIRC it is RAW DAO) It happaned to me that I cuoldnt backup the very first time since I was using a wrong writer.
  15. STING is 'just' a tcp/ip connection package providing LAN and internet access to everybody

  17. As usual, I left the links off the message ftp://ftp.phil.uni-sb.de/pub/atari/mint/KGMD-1.0 german MiNT distribution http://freemint.de/en/ freemint portal http://www.cs.uni-magdeburg.de/~fnaumann/ frank naumann, the freemint manteiner Hope this helps
  18. I read most of your posts here, and it looks you aren't fool at all! What I meant was that Mega STE is way different from STs. The audio section is very different as well (onboard stereo things) (wait a minute! We didn't start from Mega ST, but from Mega STe) I actually didin't understand that you meant to know the differences between MST and ST, I was thinking at ST vs MSTE. About the scrolling desktops: I was referring to *actual* bigger desktops, adding graphics cards like ET4000 (1024x768x16bit) or more affordable hacks like overscan (upto 380x270 IIRC and 640x480b/w) I never liked moving desktops, they give me a headache. Oh well, it looks like things are clearer now (sorry for the misunderstandings) MST is quite similar to ST MSTE is quite similar to STE MSTE and ST are quite different Bye guys, I like to talk non-gaming atari (i also like to talk gaming-atari )
  19. I used MultiTos on my STe, just for CAB and PPP connect, since I didn't want to master the absurd STiK2 installation (at that time). I wouldn't use Mtos, nor Mint now, unless I needed some multitask. Just use STinG.
  20. You can't do much with that awful audio out (well, it's not that awful, but...) To get a SERIOUS audio out you should abandon that thing and buy an FA4, or FA8, or JAMin/out, or something else that gives you a lot of CLEAN ANALOG AUDIO channels, with a external D/A conversion. No hiss, no humm, full frequency range. About resources, it depends on what do you need. let me know, i'll point you. Bye
  21. As usual, I left out some links! It looks that you can put the ET4000 on MEGA ST and STE http://atarihacks.cjb.net/
  22. I am not going in deep tech stuff here, since I can't remember well (and it's late in the night here, you know? ), but: GEM and TOS aren't limited to 640x400, only older programs and the ones using directly the graphics hardware are restricted (mainly GAMES and tricky software like spectrum512); all other programs adapt themselves to the available res (think about CAB that without any modification runs on NOVA cards, Blow-Up, Standard ST modes and TT modes, using the available colors and res). Mind that the desktop replacements allow 16 or 32 colours icons, wallpapers, etc... ST, Mega ST and STe are different. They are! Blitter on STe, for fast video page swaps and such 16 MHZ (16 MHz!!!) is the double of 8 like 1,7 GHz is the double of 850 MHz. More colours and tweaked graphic hardware on STe (a step towards Falcon, keeping the ST soul) HD diskette on STe TOS 2.06 on STe VME BUS on STe 4 MB RAM on Mega4 STe (and you can load a whole truckload of programs at bootstrap) a step towards compatibility on STe (ACSI interface) Battery operated RTC ... Later
  23. Let me point out a few things: first, a MEGA4 STe with a 20 MB HD isn't exactly an ST. Now, I use the computer for working, and I use a very limited number of programs: a word processor, an Internet browser, a mail and FTP program, and a couple of tools. All day long! I also use Director, toolbook, shockwave and flash. The real thing that is missing in ALL st series computers is a network capability and a larger display. THink about it: the same time it takes to launch that "stupid buggy word processor" on a P IV 900, I switch on the STe, launch Papyrus and write my document. No bugs, no crashes, no errors, no reboot. All on a 16MHz MC68000. BUT this happens on a 640x400 monochrome monitor, and sometimes you feel the need of something more. Internet: I browse only a limited number of tech sites that are in my need. I can do it with CAB (no flash, no java and it's OK for most of them), but the screen size and colour is a BIG issue! FTP: no problem Mail: no problem (AND NO VIRUSES) News: no problem I only miss the big screen and the network capability to transfer files to other PCs and devices that are over the office, and to share the hi speed Internet connection of my LAN. Because of this, I often do the 'gross' work on the STe and the 'refinements' on "the stupid word processor" (transfering with diskettes) So I just use the right computer for the right task. (Of course I use PCs for Director, or for 3D graphics and other tasks, and use Opera for browsing) OK, I give you a rest, now :-)
  24. Sorry in the rush of writing, I left out all the addresses. http://perso.wanadoo.fr/didierm/index-e.htm (here is the falcon with the ethernet card) www.hardware.atari.org (mr. amdson) http://gem.win.co.nz/mb/atarihw/ (mari becroft's pages)
  25. OK! You can connect a Tseng Labs ET4000 card to almost any ST machine. There are docs and schematics for this, but Atari workshop has got them ready. At Mario Becroft's site there is a new project called Galaxy, it's a network card plus graphics processor. It's still in developement, since network doesn't work yet, but graphics looks ok. Then there is this ethernet card. It looks you can even share the Internet connection just using STinG. It is presented in Didier Mequignon homepage and it is sold in various flavours by Lyndon Amsdon. Paolo
