I read a lot about putting a graphic card on an STe. It looks like the best solution is an ET400. Is this true? I also read about using an Ethernet adapter with the STs. And then I read about Mari Becroft's Graphic+Net card. The question is... HELP! What should I do? Where sould I buy it? Thanks

I read about a keyboard.sys file to remap PC keyboard used on the Falcon. Does anybody know something?

"why would you want to do that anyway Not trying to transfer it to others are you? " NO! I don't have PZ at all! I just have the .JAG file so I was thinking if there was a simple way to have a go on it. But I think I just have to buy the "unfinished" cart. It's a pity, since I am not a "collector", but a gamer, and I would like to have a complete game; but better a half than nothing I think in a couple of weeks I'll write Carl, so I will check if there are CGE-JAG disks left as well. Now I go and try to burn CDs with the other PD programs... (it's just that I don't like to load them from a PC since I have to have wires all over the room. And besides I don't want to CONTAMINATE my JAG with a PC datastream ) PS: for the records, I don't like copying and this kind of stuff Bye guys. Bye!

Hi, guys! So, I am trying to burn phase zero on CD. I just miss the loading address. IIRC, there is a JUGS utility that tells you what the exact address is, but now I am not home, and I have the CD writer here. Starcat: I already followed your directions, but are those parameters always the same? BTW I still can't get that BALL GAME running. Strange. Any news or improvements

NOnono! This IS the BEST thing of the 24FPS movies. I love it! I think they should keep this feature in digital films and they should implement it in all the TV programs (I have seen that sometimes they do it, in a show called quiz show, for example) Bye

Hi. I already tried the instructions on Lars' site. Black screen. I think I am missing something... Maybe the CD-ROM unit? (All other games work, but, who knows? Mind that I first followed exactly the instructions (both JUGS and Ball Game), and then started trying something else, but still nothing. Thanks. I'll keep trying.

Hi guys! I didn't want to start a new topic. but I realized that the existing ones have gone far from my point here. I tried almost everything while loading the game with JUGS, starting with the advice on Lars' site and ending with using kickstart.bin. NO SUCCESS! All I always have is a "transmission success" on PC side and a black screen on Jag side. (Note that all other demos and games work fine...) Does anybody have this problem? Does anybody know how to work it out (I am sure I'm missing something)? Thanks.

Hi! You'll find a lot of JI2 users here (maybe all of them), that still love JI2 and won't leave it, but enjoy AtariAge system. Nothing wrong in having two groups of friends! I personally like both the different boards, one with more "rushing" messages, and this one with different areas, separated topics, and so on. Regards.

I disagree. Why should I think that Protector has been released just for fun? And why shouldn't I think that Defender itself has been made for personal interest? The fact that Protector is a 2d side-scrolling game doesn't mean that it isn't a professionally made product. Also, I'd like to point out that Protector was going to be released to compete in the industry when Atari pulled the plug, exactly like battlesphere. BTW, it looks that BS and Protector are far more cleaned-up than FFL Oh, well. My .02$ Regards

Simply because Jag release is on a cd (well, Carl, here you could put more than 50 pics, or there is some little secret in the cd;-)? ) Lynx release in on a linx cart, and I think it's remarkable, that Carl put so many pics in it! Bye

You're right! And it's also a bit strange that in the middle of a battle you think at money However, there had been an old ST game (I think blood money) where your aim WAS to collect as more money you could to get powerups, and it was a nice game... About unpacking: what was the benefit of packing, then? Was it for making room for more graphics, or what? Regards
-
So we won't be able to buy extra things? Or there will be another system to get extra power between the levels? How is a good thing that the objects are not packed and unpacked? Bye!

Welcome abroad! Native is a side scrolling r-type stile shooter. It has been a 1 level demo only loadable on development systems, until Scatologic and Songbird made an agreement with the author (and/or who owns the rights) for publishing this demo on CD for use on all jaguar consoles with a CD-Bypass cart (Protector:SE, Battlesphere Gold or B&C CD-Bypass cart). At this time it looks that work is in progress to continue development on this game. Lots of discussions are on actually. Just stay tuned, here and on Jaguar Interactive II. Bye!

It looks like you just set-up a battlefield . There are very different kind of games, and a lot of people with different preferences. Before telling you what I like, I suggest to check out the tons of reviews you can find here, at jagu-dome, at The Atari Times, the Atari Jaguar Front Page News and other places. http://www.ataritimes.com/ http://classicgaming.com/jfpn/ http://www.jaguar.holyoak.com/ I like tempest 2000 (furios action) protector SE (fast paced hor-scrolling defender clone) Battlesphere (3D space shooter) Super burn-out (motorbike racing) Pinball fantasies fight for life (3d fight) rayman, pitfall (platform) Val d'Isere skiing (looks like Super Burn Out on a rollercoaster) But I am sure there are more you could like As example I would pick as second choice: dragon club drive (very unpolished, but fun) worms And I would stay away from checkered flag (nice graphics BAD control) Supercross 3D (running at 5 FPS ) White men can't jump (with that rolling camera ) Enjoy the Jag Make a screening, and then make a preference list, and then BUY THEM ALL!

If it can help, this is my personal experience. I always loved Star Raiders. If you do, you shouldn't even reach the end of this post without opening another windows with your paypal account and send money. If you like space shooters in general, you will find a lot of different battle modes, and you'll like all of them. If you just want to have a look at how far a Jag can be pushed, you should own this game. If you like a ton of options, eggs, hidden features, thisi is your game. May I suggest you to check the (few) reviews out there? I found them interesting, with a lot of personal impressions and objective considerations. About motion. Don't seek any more: the motion is smooth as silk. Lastly, if you don't like Star Raiders, or any other space shooter, well, buy it the same ! I would suggest you BS:G since it is newer (and more expensive), but I think you will be fully satisfied even with the standard edition.

I asked JediJeff time ago and he told me he was not going to make more of them for a while. I am still interested in having one, and I was going to build one by myself (like Gunstar) but I stopped before buying the parts. :-) Hey Tyrant. Willl you post pictures somewhere?

Jaguar game developement and pre-existing graphic engines
Paolo replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari Jaguar
quote: Originally posted by Thunderbird: Native's Engine is freely available too. Nobody has done anything with that. T'Bird, did you had a look at Native engine? How complete the game is? Is anybody working on it now? While playing the demo found on JUGSDD DEMOCD, I die after a few wawes of 'spheres' in the 'tech background'; since I can't take powerups, it is difficult to survive! So I can't even check how many graphics levels are there Paolo -
Jaguar game developement and pre-existing graphic engines
Paolo replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari Jaguar
Hi, Carl! As far as I know, according to the CDs I have, I can tell you this: VidGrid does save data (hiscores, and player profile) Braindead 13 SHOULD save, but doesn't work Blue lighting YES Highlander YES Space Ace NO Dragon's Lair NO Battlemorph YES IS2 YES Hover Strike 2 YES WTR NO (sad!) Primal Rage NO (very sad!) Bye. -
Hey T'Bird: about that clear case, may I ask a question? I read there is written ATARI inside, near the usual "mold clocks". Does this mean that this is from an original Atari mold? If so, why there isn't written Atari on the back of the cart as usual for old Atari carts? About Demo CD: Is there a specific reason for putting that specific starship in the 3D demo? The scatologic demos are just the early stage of BS engines, or are they actually deployed in BS (mark II, the 3D cubes with lighting, ...)? Paolo

I always loved to play mini games. I was sure there was something running about this with Carl (Songbird) with the virtual VCS. I would LOVE to play my old favourites on my Jag. I understand that whilst Virtual VCS performed original VCS games, a mini game could be a clone, or just an original game, but this doesn't really matter at this point. I would like to play them both from a CD collection or a Cart. I like Jagmania and Jagtris, but I don't play them much because I need to load with Jugs; I play a lot of SinisterDevelopment Asteroids, since they are on JugsDD demo CD. Now, what mini games? I always thought there is lack of classic editions on Jag: there is Pitfall, Missile Command, Breakout, Defender, Pong, and maybe others, but you need to have a lot of carts, and discover where these games are. I'd like to see frogger, phoenix, scramble, jungle hunt, kangaroo, dig dug, you've got the idea

I just like to add that there are some tv sets that auto-detect the input signal trough SCART and auto-set it to the best (although they usually let you choose as well). Actually almost all the new tv sets (starting from 14" on) have a complete SCART wiring, but not all appliances have an RGB output (u.e. cheap VCRs only have composite and audio in SCART socket or some camcorders with S-video out) Cheers.
-
No, Gunstar. I don't have BS, but I bought BS:g from Doug. And I bought BD13 from VGLQ (or Flashback, or konsolen.de, I can't remember). So, there is another Paolo, eh? Who is him? Is he italian or spanish or what? Let me know! Paolo

quote: Originally posted by Gunstar: The RGB signal is there for the older style RGB monitors of the mid to late 80's with a sync rate of, IIRK, 15 khz as opposed to the newer 30 khz. Hi, Gunstar! I don't know what's going on in the US, but here in Europe the RGB signal is a standard in modern TV sets: The SCART plug is a strangely shaped connector with 21 pins that includes (one or more according to each device, VCR, TV, DVD, etc.) stereo line in and out, composite video in and out, R, G, B in and out, 12V pullup signal, ground. RGB is of course a bit different from computer RGB with the need of Hsync and Vsync, since the TV has fixed H and V sync; the nice thing is that it is accepted any video RGB signal, so you can use NTSC and PAL JAG, if the TV allows 50-60 Hz signals (and it nearly always does). Sorry for the imprecisions, but I don't have an handbook right now... Paolo PS. I read the Jag FAQ only after I bought an S-video cable, so now I have the RF cable (used only once, just to try it), the S-video cable used the first week, and the RGB self made cable (thanks R Jung!) connected to the SCART input of my 31" philips widescreen and my son's 14" philips TV. I played B13 all night long at that time, saving continously, and checking if the saved game was ok (the first minutes I just ended the game and then started again, resuming perfectly); at 5am I turned everything off. When I switched it on again I found the surprise. I realised that the saved game could resume without turning the Jag off. Since then I use the "guide" to reach the last successfull point, and then play. It's just like a "manual save" option Paolo
