  1. I'l tell you, since my Falcon had its EtherNat up and running, he got a whole new life. I move and quick edit lots of files around my LAN (suffice to say I have three licences of Papyrus: Atari, Mac and Windoze), and do some online activity as well (aICQ, quick browsing, a little e-mail when I don't have my PowerBook with me, listen some online radio, ...)

  2. About the release format, I read that you'll make a 4 MB rom image. Does that mean that I need to encode&burn? or maybe I'll need to burn a ROM? Or that I'll need a flashcart thingie?

It's designed to run from a flashcart - Alpine (2mb for tests, 4mb for final), Skunk (I or II) or a JagCF (if you have a beta :P)

The final game will be a 4Mb ROM image. The level test releases will be 2mb ROM images.

However it also runs (if you accept a few glitches) on the Project Tempest emulator. It does not run anywhere near full speed or even correctly on VirtualJaguar, and I doubt it will run correctly in MESS either (Not tested it, MESS seems geared towards CoJag emulation as it has 68020 for CPU, and the emulated clock speeds are all wrong - at least, according to the MESS website anyway)

There will not be a CD-ROM release.

    Hmmm, I see.

And will you ever plan a cart release? (although I am looking forward to a JagCF)

  3. Well, thank you for all the clarifications. I think it is going to be a very cool and fun game. And I can't wait to see it finished.

  4. If I may nitpick, I would suggest to move the more coloured, galaxy-filled layer on the background and move it slower than the current almost-star-only deep layer, while getting another front-layer with sparse stars moving quicker.

Also, I can't imagine what's going on with the collision detection active on the player sprite! I hope we will have some shields :-D

I love it. True ST shooter on steroids.

did I say I love it?

  5. I think that the worst thing in club drive is that they did this flat-shading/low-polygons graphics that prevents you from fully understand what's going on.

It seems that they were working on the game, leaving textures out until they found a way to speed things up, and then released it.

However, I like the game, the San Francisco route is fun, and I find the controls responsive. The tag mode is funny (as usual any game is better when played with humans)

  6. OK, all, I just came back home after a couple of days off (you know, the beach, the sun, pizza eating, ... you got the idea) and I found this.

Of course, having taken part in the poll, I 'put my money where my mouth was' (is that right?), and I purchased a PDF copy.

It's downloading right now, so I can't tell you my impressions, but I can tell you that I am excited just like buying a paper copy...

    edit: I missed an apostrope

  7. Well, just out of my mind, I remember I used my ST at the university while having Hydraulics exam (I am an engineer).

We had to draw the -hmmm...- 'flow lines' of a liquid current. Thing that took forever to calculate.

So, I took my ST BASIC knowledge and wrote a program that also drove a Graphtec flatbed pen plotter to draw a nice A3 size 'stream profile'.

It was quite an achievement, since everybody thought that plotters could only be driven by AutoCad and its huge drivers, and you had to learn LISP for anything different than drawing lines and circles by point-and-click.

Good times, when manifacturers also gave you the device's instruction set. Ah, well...

    now, get off my lawn!

  8. Ok, played it a little yesterday. (also printed the cover art and put into a DVD box)

    Now, what may I say...

    wow!

I already had DiamJag but that 3d twist is KEWL!!!

I relly hoped to have some enemies in that airplane game. Looked promising, even in a limited playfield.

Funny how you have that cavemen walking mid-air if you don't set the screen properly :-D

Just one note, though: you put the 'screen adjust' option almost averywhere, except in the main title screen, it's a pity :-)

Uh, last note: I have a US Jaguar, but use it in Italy, so, NTSC Jag is a 'GO' for your CD.

  9. but at that time there was that 'proudly american' thingy that went down after a lot of the manifacturing was sent abroad. Sad, though...

Well Atari was also known as an American console maker and it was definitely mentioned as a positive mark for the Jaguar.

    And I really liked that.

My boxes had very big signs in the corners with the "MADE IN THE USA" PRINT.

  10. I see there are already two posts about possible usage of the rotary controller, but no answers yet.

Hence, I am a little anxious about it. I have a ratary, too, and it would be *great* to use it on a new game.

So, Terance, k3v, Steve, Scott, give us this news!!!

I only wished I could tell you yes but it just would not fit.

We packed that friggin ROM till it was screaming. I begged

Scott to find a way and it just was'nt possible. Sorry guys.

I hope Paddle Baddles 3D will make up for that someday

    though.

    :)

    A-HA!

Now that we got a name, I think I'll head right to Facebook for a hate-group about Scott!

Let me see... it will be, "Jaguar rotary controllers owners who would have loved to use their thing but Scott went all oh no keep your controller collecting dust"

    Who is in? :D

  11. I started DL'ing via regular link, then I read there was a torrent, so I thought that the least I could do was not to hog Orion's server.

Dl'ing and seeding right now (this is the very first time I use Torrent for something different than a OpenOffice download or some related stuff; it surely is the first time ever I torrent a game :-) better yet, it's safe and legal)

    Thank you!!!

    (edited for typos)

  12. Does the cursor move up, if so wouldn't a Trak-Ball be better?

    AX

Hmmm, I've seen it in the video, but, you know, I'd happily give up the option of moving vertically for good ol' rotary action!!! hehe

(edit: BTW, it would be really great to have track-ball compatibility, along with a nice track-ball, of course...)
