  1. I believe Asterix is actually slightly easier from what I remember. I had both, sold my NTSC Asterix and kept Taz. I'm pretty sure there are actually slight play differences. One of them is easier as I recall.

I don't think so. Both games play and score the same. As every game, they are minor speed differences between NTSC, PAL,SECAM and emulated games.

www.atariprotos.com (Tempest!) says: "Same game as Taz with altered graphics."

  2.

The return of the Quick-Start-Bonus? ;)

The new scoring system for Season 6 seems like a litte bit strange, but who cares?

Space Panic is a very underrated game - a cross between Dig Dug, Miner 2049er and Donkey Kong - but

    many more strategic elements.

Whow - the Space Panic winner scored in Season 2 58,570 (chuckwalla), in Season 4 87,570 (duncantoml)

    and now 411,470? :-o

    my score so far: 13,300

    (my best was 20,650)

  3. It's been awhile since I did this (besides a cameo mod appearance in the VCS HSC a couple weeks ago. :)

    I love comebacks!

Moderating one (or more) HSC(s) is very time-consuming...

I know this as the former Colecovision and Intellivision HSC mod!

    My wish-list:

    Pac-Man

    Pole Position

    Galaxian

    Moon Patrol

    Dig Dug

    Spy Hunter

    Crystal Castles

    Missile Command

    Blaster

  4. Jawbreaker is one of the best too in my opinion. Seriously underrated.

Jawbreaker was released for the Commodore 64, Apple II and Atari 8-bit computer-line (besides the 2600)

    - and I never liked Jawbreaker...

  5. Yeah, Defender etc are not 'excusive' games, even though the 2600 port is different from the other ports.

My first pick would be Enduro. It's already at the top of my favorite 2600 games list, and it is exclusive to the 2600. It is actually the best Atari-system racer IMHO. The challenge of getting past day 7 ... well , it's A CHALLENGE! But so rewarding when you pass your last car just as the new day dawns.

2nd choice would be Robot Tank.

Enduro is great - but not 2600 exclusive- This game was also released for the ZX Spectrum...

My choice: Solaris and Pressure Cooker

  6. OK. I played both too and didn't get a difference either.

OK, you may play Bang Boom. Have fun and enjoy. Don't beat us too badly. ;)

Don't worry - I have never played this game in my Atari 2600 life (since December 24th 1979)!

Here's my $0.02 on the matter:

    1. This is for fun. There are no prizes for winning (other than bragging rights.)

    2. The majority of the time, we pretty much stick to the same ROM, strictly for consistency's sake, but exceptions have been made in the past.

    3. I played both games via Stella. Other than graphical and audio differences, the two games seem to play the same.

    4. Scoring is the same in both games. Both games ramp up and down difficulties the same way.

    5. If you want to get technical, for it to be perfectly fair across the board, it would have to be decided to use either real hardware OR emulation. Emulation is not 100% exact...again, if you want to get picky. :)

I would vote to allow Boom Bang if there are no other options. Sure, he could play Crackpots in emulator, but some folks don't like to use emulation. If it came down to Mister VCS's choices being "Play Boom Bang" or "You can't play", I say let him play Boom Bang. :)

I vote for "double-round" this week - we play both games with two seperate high-score-lists. I think we have many 2600 HSC PAL players...
