Klose erinnert mich stark an Kalle Rummenigge.

Which games best demonstrate the 2600's capabilities?
Mister VCS replied to Room 34's topic in Atari 2600
I vote for: SOLARIS and RADAR LOCK colorful and well detailed, fast-action gameplay ROAD RUNNER the same as Solaris and RL BMX Air-Master only the graphic and music not the gameplay! H.E.R.O. good graphic and unusual gameplay GHOSTBUSTERS see Hero I am right? -
Melde dich einfach mal Gruß Mister VCS

I don´t think that Warner had much more success with the 7800 than the Tramiels. The starting titles (from Warner!) showed that Warner didn´t learned from the 5200 flop. I don´t understand why they spent the 7800 the VCS soundchip. Warner would concentrate the software on action-games, but people wouldn`t play action games in 1984 and the following years. Playing Donkey Kong is not more fun on a 7800 than on a XL or Colecovision, nobody needed this. But Warner was able to promote the 7800 quite well, and nobody knows what happened if the creative Acitivision programmers made "NES-quality" games on the 7800.

Are there any VCS-games who didn´t work on the CV Atari-Expansion-Module? I heard some rumors, but until today I hadn´t any problems with this module. The picture is much better than on a black 4switch VCS. Atari shame you! Mister VCS

Somtetimes I hear that the 7800 ist technical superior to the NES, and it was a tragedy that Atari released this system too late. I disagree. When you look close to the system, it is only a modifizied 5200/XL system with the sound of the 2600. The starting titles would be Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Asteroids and so on. Short: the same games Atari already released for the 2600, 5200 and XL! In 1984 people where tired to play this old games the 4th time with minor graphic-modifications. They where tired in 1984 and in 1986, it doesen´t matter. Atari lost it´s innovation in 1984, always the same poor Action/Arcade games. They would never reach the creativity of Nintendo who pushed videogaming to a new dimension (Super Mario Bros). Why didn´t Atari released such games as Raiders of the Lost Ark for the 7800? Don´t missunderstand me: I love Atari, and I hate Nintendo, but sometimes, you have to be critical with a true love love som

trebor said that the 2600 Smurf is "ok, but the CV-version is much better". I totally disagree. The gameplay of the 2600 Smurf is much more fun than on the CV. The CV version never gets harder! When you start at Skill 1,2,3 or 4 you always play the game at the same skill level! This fact kills the fun totally! The graphics is great for the 2600, with some extras (the heart at the end, the animated spider). It is one of the classics for the VCS. Mr. Do is a totally fun game, better than Dig Dug. Mister VCS

I haver never played the 8-bit version of Donkey Kong. Are there all 4 levels? Here is my best of DK list (versions i played) 1. C-64 Atarisoft Cartridge There are all 4 levels and the starting sequence 2. 7800 Atari Only 3 levels but slightly better graphics than the C 64 missing the starting sequence 3. Colecovision CBS nearly the same as the 7800 version, good "DK-feeling" 4. 2600 CBS not much Donkey Kong here, it could be done better the 2600 Pac-Man is closer to the arcade than this one! comments are welcome

www.thevideogamecritic.com is an excellent web-site, but in my opinion dave mrotzek ist totally wrong with the rating for double dragon (F) and little wrong with donkey kong jr (A-) for the 2600. I would give DD a B and DKJR a C. The gameplay of DD is quite good, and the controlling of the game could be learned. Some levels of DKJR. are just too fast and unplayable. You can´t give such a game an A-.

I own a 64 in One cartridge with the game "clowns" (I know the name from the digital-press guide). Any informations about this game (company, programmer)? Was it released as a single cartridge? It is a jump and run game with some nice graphics and permanent back-ground music (which could you make depressive sometimes).

What is the right: could the 2600 display 256 or 128 colors? Over the last 20 years it was a tie between this two variants in videogame-mags. For sure it is funny that the good ol VCS could display MUCH more colors than the more powerful gaming machines Commodore 64 or ColecoVision. It is one reason that I loved the VCS much more than the C 64 with his "blue window". What is the reason for the blue window at most of the C 64 games? Mister VCS celebrates 1 year at AtariAge - logon-day 5th of May 2001 127 posts, 2 names (from 2600er to Mister VCS)and one GREAT site!!

correction: www.dieterkoenig.at/ccc/index.htm Telematch
-
Scott Stilphen: you can see a picture of the blocky SMURF at dieterkoenig.at/ccc/index.htm click on the telematch-article and scroll down the last scan "so siehts auf dem Bildschirm aus". On the right page you can see the Smurf screen-shot (in the middle of the last row). Was this (ugly) version ever programmed?

I think the birthday of our AtariAge-page is in April, but i don´t know the exact launch-day. ALEX and ALBERT: anything planned for the 1st birthday? You could print AtariAge T-shirts and send them to the acitive members My log-in birthday is the 5th of May 2002. I am proud to celebrate this at the "8 bit Tauschbörse" in Frankfurt (a garage sale only for the classics). All members are invited. For more informations go to www.8bitgames.de
