    You can use an emulator. You don't have to use an actual machine.

    Hi innuendo - Welcome :thumbsup: yes the Centipede is on the regular Atari Computer (400/800/XL/XE) but it is a ported version of the 5200's version of the game. I'll send you a message just in case you don't see this.

    I don't think I got an email from you Jason...well, at least not recently. I am going to see if I can get up and going and play some this season. Although it might actually be Melly playing... as she has a fascination with computers and the like now. :) We are doing well...just trying to keep up with a toddler now. I hope all is well in your world!!

    I used to play games on FB a lot more than I do now. I am bored with all the Mafia Wars, Farmville, Frontierville, etc. kinda games. I now pretty much play Bejeweled and some other random arcade type games. I do have to admit I like Word Search, and things like that, as well, though.

    Bump - who wants to update this thread?

     

    I posted so many scores for this thread nobody wants to update it. LOL

    I did better at some of these games since i last posted scores in this thread.

     

    I'd like to update this thread. I guess i need permission from one of the Mods or something.

    I think this thread should be moved to the sub forums with the other high score threads.

    Or maybe a new Odyssey 2 high score thread should be started in the high score clubs forum.

     

    Actually, there is no longer a HSC forum. The HSCs are usually a sub-forum in whichever category the particular things fall into. However, the NES and SMS have their own sub-forum in Classic Gaming General. I bet if you ask Albert really nicely he would be more than happy to include this one, as well.

    I decided to stick with the above scoring as bluecat would still only have got one point on normal. I've rightly given Fandal the 'win' in the column. I have managed to get the current point standings' excel to html working thanks to a nice macro I found. It's not perfect but looks like it'll be ok :)

     

     

    I forgot to tell you that it contained a formula. See... you were smart enough to figure it all out! :)

    I am pretty sure everyone played on normal...except bluecat. As per promised everyone will be getting an extra point to their score this time around. I do scoring based on actual score...not by level. If I did, I would have to get into a bunch of sub categories...split points and all that. I just simply don't have the time nor patience to do it any other way.

    I've really not played this much before, great fun but you need the keybaord near for the hyperspace (any key) and smart bombs (space bar)!

     

    I think some people will stuggle on Normal dificulty so how about if you are someone who didn't finish in the top 10 from the first game and you didn't finish in the overall top ten from last season you can play on easy and use autofire if you wish to :)

     

    The rest of us should play on Normal or Hard with no autofire :!:

     

    I had a few goes on Easy and scored 18K, one go on Normal 36K, and one go on Hard and managed 87,775 even though I lost all the chappies and the world turned hostile, scarey :ponder:

     

    Got a feeling it's going to be a hectic couple of weeks :)

     

    Yeah, it seems you build the score faster on more difficult levels because the smart bomb acts on more enemies but I guess in the long run easy will produce a better score once you run out of smart bombs. First shot at it in this century and I got 33750 on easy and 48700 on normal. I propose a consistent means of scoring by using easy score in the tally and then doing the following:

     

    Normal: L=1, Hard: L=2 and plug into:

     

    Score' = Score*L*PI/3

     

    So the 48700 would be 50998.

     

    It's the power of L so it's:

     

    Score' = Score*PI^L/3^L

     

    Note that if you let Easy: L=0, then Score' = Score since anything to the power of 0 = 1.

    You have so totally lost me... what is PI?

     

    It's the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet and it's also how many diameters it takes to fit a circle's perimeter computed by people to be about 3.141592653. So given L=0,1,2 (for easy, normal, and hard) the Score to be put in the table would be:

     

    Score' = Score*(3.141592653^L)/3^L. So when L=0, it reduces to Score' = Score.

    Okay... having a blonde moment... didn't realize that was what you were doing.

    As great games as they are we could also drop any games played last season DonkeyKong/SuperPacman/MrRobot/Millipede :ponder:

     

    I thought about that too... I tell ya what... I will go through the list again... and remove all of the games we played last year. I am not going to add any other games... unless for some reason someone absolutely can't live without playing a particular game....does that work?

    Okay...but I intentionally randomized and made the list shorter....there were way too many suggested to get around to playing.
