I stumbled across this too when I went from IE to Firefox. On occasion when I clean out cookies and temp files I will have to go back and reset it. As everyone else has already said... it is a pretty fix... you just have to know where to look.

It will crash on Windows 98SE also... or that is the experience I have had. I have also had trouble with converting images. On rare occasion it will work.

Wow orpheus... that is incredibly impressive. Maybe I should do that with my cassettes when I have time. I think have pretty close to 50...if not more than that (thanks to classics). But, I don't think I will be selling mine, though! Good work Simon!!! :)

Hey everyone!!! We still have the IRC chat night going on each week, on Thursdays, if anyone wants to come in and check it out. Official gathering time is 8:00pm CST/CDT, and you have 3 options for getting in: - Use your favorite IRC client to connect to irc.newnet.net and join channel #atari. - Telnet to irc.atarichat.net. Port is 800. - Use the Java applet found at http://www.newnet.net. If you can't make it around 8:00 tonight, you can stop in at anytime, somebody is usually awake. We are predominately 8-bit folks... but a lot of us dabble in other stuff too. (Commodore, Amiga, STs, etc, etc, etc) There isn't much we don't talk about. It is a lot of fun....and very informative. Hope you can come join us....we will be glad to see ya!!!

Sadly...in all reality... it doesn't matter what you do. They have a "script" they go by, and for every 1 person that doesn't fall for it... they have hundreds that do. After awhile, they will give up, and move on to the next victim. As a seller it is getting harder and harder to safeguard yourself from this type of thing. My suggestion, as I stated before, and also as FND reiterated...when you do auctions... in the very first line of your description, say that you don't do any second chance offers under any circumstance. This way, the buyer will know without a doubt anything about one didn't come from you. As a buyer... one way to handle this is to have the person call you directly to discuss it. If they are legit, they will have no problem doing this. If, however, you EVER get a phone call from IP Relay... it is a scam. Ask them why they are calling you through IP Relay and they will tell you, a) they are out of state or b) they are deaf and dumb. (deaf people don't refer to themselves as dumb) Sometimes they tell you something else... but if the latter is the case tell them to call you through their state relay. If the first one is the case...it is a definite scam and let it go. These are a couple suggestions. I can't come up with anything else at the moment. You could always bombard the fellow with e-mails about how you can't pay right away because of some tragedy... and string them along that way if you were so inclined. Reporting it to the police is a good idea, but really their hands are tied. There isn't much they can do, since almost all of these scams originate overseas. Sorry I can't be of more help.
