  1. I'm not sure if you missed my last score or just haven't gotten around to the final update on this round but my finishing score was 70,250. There are a couple others that posted after mine as well that are not on the list.

Just thought that I'd mention it.

Just haven't gotten around to posting yet. I should have it done sometime today.

  2. Contest ends at 11:30 pm EDT Friday, May 22, 2009. No exceptions.

Gyruss was released in the USA in 1984 by Parker Brothers.

  3. Sorry I haven't had a chance to update in the past few days. I will get to it as soon as I can. Being pregnant with a terrible toothache doesn't prove to be too conducive in getting things done.

I don't think it's a big deal at all, but maybe you should name bountybob or someone co-mod so he can update things.

Thanks... but there is actually already a co-mod. At any rate, these last two contests are the only ones that have taken longer for me to update. Prior to that they were all updated as soon as I got the email of a new post. I really don't think it is unreasonable to be a little patient, is it? How many other mods update the HSC within a couple of hours of scores being posted? I am sorry if I seem a little "bitchy" but you know I am doing my best here. Thanks again for the input... it will be taken into consideration.

No Im sorry...didnt mean to sound pushy or anything! Youre doing a great job! I was just making the suggestion because it sounded like you felt bad not updating. Its all good! Sory if my post sounded snitty.

...and you're allowed bitchy! We understand!

I do feel bad about not updating as much as I used to... and that is why I make sure everyone knows it isn't just because I am being lazy. Lots of things are going on... heck, I am still trying to unpack from our move four weeks ago. It's just been really hectic... and I don't want anyone to think that this isn't important to me, because it is. I just have some things to deal with, and once things are "back to normal" or at least as back to normal as they can be considering the circumstances, all will be good. Thanks again for the input, it is appreciated, I am just feeling a little bit overwhelmed right now, but I promise, it will get better sooner rather than later.

  6. Okay, I am absolutely taking no more scores on Drol. In order to be fair, I will accept everything that has been posted thus far. But from this point on, if your score is not posted by 11:30 pm EDT or whatever time I set for the end of a game, it will not be accepted. The screen shot is not necessary, but the score is. If you want to edit your post and post a screen shot later, that is fine too... the original post time stays with the post.

  7. Thanks JellE. I really did snap that last night but couldn't get the pic to upload. I don't suppose anyone else had trouble?

There are always folks having upload issues... and that is part of the reason they aren't mandatory. They are nice if you can post them, but not absolutely necessary! :)

  8. Can I play? :D 6540

    101_0474.jpg

I had trouble uploading the pic though. :( I tried with 2 laptops and my main pc, trying both explorer and firefox. Anyone else have problems? I wound up putting the pic on photobucket and linking it.

ANYWAY...this is actually the b&w version. It plays in color? The color version does look a *little* nicer, but I honestly don't see where its easier. BUT the color version crashes after the third screen anyway.

Not the most exciting game but fun nonetheless. It was pretty rewarding FINALLY getting past the third screen. Unfortunately I died shortly after.

    Oh, and p.s. @ timsteraa

    nyah-nayh!

Since this was actually played last night, I am counting it. However, let me remind everyone, so this isn't an issue... you don't have to post the pics, especially if you are having problems doing so. The score alone will suffice.

  9. Sorry folks, I totally forgot to post this. It has been extremely hectic around here. Hopefully by next contest it will be "back to normal."

Anyway... since this is a few days late... the poll will end at noonish EDT on Sunday, April 26th. The new competition will start the same day. Thanks for your continued dedication and patience.

    Trolls and Tribulations (Creative Software-USA-1984)

    River Raid (Activision-USA-1983)
    Gyruss (Parker Brothers-USA-1984)

  10. Here is the deal folks... I don't have the time or the energy most days to go around policing every game that is played. I have to rely on you guys to be straight up and honest about stuff. Unless I get a chance to actually play a game, I don't know about any bugs, glitches, or hacks. (Unless someone else tells me about them.) This is supposed to be for fun.. even though we have some fierce competitions going on sometimes.

My point is this, let's all just try to have fun, and be fair. If there are issues, let me know, and I will see what I can do to resolve them.

  11. OK, here's my best so far... 12155.

    post-8393-1239635153_thumb.png

    - Actually, my way of achieving a high score was not to try to beat as many rounds as possible. The reason for this is that with shooting enemies, round 3 is easier than the other rounds because you can hover in the air and hit oncoming enemies in the head while their shots, which go down diagonally, will never touch you as long as you shoot the enemies in time. In addition to that, you can also hit masses of oncoming arrows. This is how I made my high score.

That's referred to as "camping" or "spawning" which is considered by most as an act of cheating and to be unethical. :ponder: I was under the assumption that pretty much all the HSC's frowned upon that. I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything. Just relaying info.

Yes, this HSC also frowns upon using exploits or glitches in the games.

  12. Sorry it is taking me so long to update and stuff... we are still trying to unpack, as well as lots of terrible storms in the area the last few days. I will get everything updated as soon as I can! In the meantime... let's play:

    Drol

Contest ends Friday, April 24, 2009 at 11:30 pm EDT.

Play on factory default settings. NOTE: Please play the B & W version as it is more reliable and will keep everything fair.

This was released in the US in 1983 by Brøderbund Software. It was programmed by Aik Beng. Here is the link to the instructions.

    Have fun and good luck!!

P.S.I have posted all of the scores that have been entered. (Color as well as mono) All scores from this point on should be from the mono version only. Thanks!

  13. Thanks guys... y'all are great. Hopefully I will see y'all in a couple days! (If Comcast cooperates, that is!)

In that case, see ya in a couple months. :D

Yeehaw... I am officially a Tennesse Volunteer now! :) I will get around to updating stuff in the next few days. We still haven't gotten all the truck unloaded yet. We got here late last night, since there were several complications. But we are here now and all is well!
