  1. I got to go for part of the day on Saturday and tried to rush my way through everything a few times before calling it done. Had every intent on getting an Atari banner but then it's like, ok... but where would put it... so decided not to. Phone was dead and wanted to test out a Sony DSC-F828 I recently acquired from Japan... the results weren't great as it tends to do much better outside and with distance. Anyways... I really wanted this payphone! And I'm not sure who's table that was as I had asked about the CRT looking screen (it was simulated on an LCD) but I should have gotten the name of the device because. Haven't been able to stop thinking about that since. I thought this was kind of cool... didn't bother touching it but someone was enjoying.. Same guy who is usually there every year with his Falcon was there again this year... never know his name and I'm kind of surprised I never see any Jaguars while there. Seems like the Atari computers are the least displayed or that's the way it felt at least. Every time I see a TOPO and a VCS Kiosk I will always think of Curt Vendel... 😕 this machine really fascinated me (turns out it has a 68040) and sent me down the rabbit hole but turns out software is non-existent for it and it's like $1,400... which could get me some pretty cool retro gear. First time I recall seeing a pizza box in person but I really love it. Not sure why I never tried to get one forever ago and while I don't need one now since I have a million other related STs (ok, 3) still very cool! Probably one of my favorite things... and it's always nice to play around with a NeXT for a few minutes...
  2. Having this on the A8 and as a FujiNET enabled game would be incredible. Where’s the beta…
  3. Now that I’m finally into the 8bits again fully, once I have my FujiNET setup will be giving this a go. If there are still no users or limited activity, might I suggest dedicated times/days maybe like twice a month, maybe in better chance to catch someone on? I’ll try and setup at the computer meet next month too so others can see it in action. Very cool btw, thanks for the work on this even if I’m late to the party!
  4. This cannot be echoed enough but more so on the wider range of possible hardware products that should be pursued. For the past however many years through the different Atari iterations, it has always been a re-hash or re-release of the same very tired 2600 variant this or that hardware with a portable version and a single 7800 variant that was an awful execution and should have never been released. Of course this is not including the current VCS, which is riddled with it's own set of problems. 2600 is the safest bet with the highest chance of return but that can't be true anymore since it's all they've every really done and is played out, modern VCS aside. It would be nice to have options for other things that are either unobtainable now and/or are so insanely expensive, that it doesn't make sense to even bother trying to get.
  5. Respectfully I have to disagree with this. We (yourself included) have been using the logo freely for 24-years now without a single nudge from whatever iteration of Atari. That’s because we’ve all been adhering to the standard “Hasbro has released all rights that it may have to the vintage Atari hardware platform, the Jaguar” as very explicitly stated in English, there is no misinterpreting that and the logo is inclusive, as demonstrated by its use for the past two decades. The point is not at all moot if Atari is going to suddenly legally disallow the use of the logos on homebrew releases, which goes back to again why clarification is needed by Atari. I don’t see that being the case but it has yet to be declared publicly by Atari their intent, now with its filing for the platform logos again, and to whatever extent that may be. Ball is in Atari’s court on how they’ll proceed to handle it but it’s clearly an issue of concern which is why it’s being brought up to begin with. Press release or not, it came directly from “whatever iteration” of Atari before the 20 others up until this point and has been the gold standard that no other Atari iteration has attempted to push back on. Is it going to start now?
  6. That’s awesome. Are there commercial 3D printing options that achieve similar or possibly even better results without all the legwork, at the cost of… it being more costly I guess.
  7. With the Jaguar it wasn’t just abandoned, it was made public domain when Hasbro released all rights to the Jaguar in 1999, as explicitly stated in the press release below some 24-years ago. It seems as current Atari is reclaiming the cat’s logo trademark, which is why clarification is definitely needed.
  8. The graphite looks absolutely amazing. I finally got my 130XE in so have to pick one of these up soon! Were you able to refine the red resin function keys to perfection for the final production keyboards at all? Feel like between the Falcon-themed graphite and those red switches.... would be oof!! Also when ordering, assuming I can get one without any LED illumination at all? I know some people dig it but I don't need my XE to glow more than the UFO I'll be placing it in after the keyboard upgrade 😆
  9. While I was apprehensive at first reading the initial announcement(s), my skepticism has dropped a bit after reading through this thread. With all things though, the proof is in the pudding. So let's party! I've been here 20+ years, hopefully for another 20 at least... and maybe this iteration of Atari really is coming around to do right by their fans. While my dreams may be a bit lofty, I suppose the most exciting prospect of all this is the possibility of newly released hardware and software that wouldn't normally find it's way on the main Atari.com site or even old AtariAge for that matter. Because the profit margins aren't high enough to invest in but still enough to warrant a few 1,000 of "this or that" to cater to the more hardcore enthusiast base, these pet projects may become possible through AtariAge having that sort of tie-in or liaison. That would be a huge upside for literally everyone and the ultimate win. Given that this is now an Atari site with Atari employees present, what better time or place to ask: It has come to my attention that the Jaguar logo has been trademarked again by Atari Interactive. My question or concern is: Is Atari going to continue to allow us to use the Jaguar logo on independently created releases as we've been doing for the past 20+ years since Hasbro released the rights to the platform as public domain? Alarmingly, I've noticed another developer has recently removed the Jaguar logo from their releases which is why I'm bringing this up. Here's to hoping for the best...
  10. If I manage to make it, I want to snag one of those banners!
  11. Curious about asking price too. I never carry cash but might make an exception when I’m out there this weekend. Only need 1 system.
  12. Had it at one point but sold it. There's a reason it was free an I never bothered scanning it as it didn't contain any new or different pictures/info that wasn't already in a dozen other magazines.
  13. I've been seriously slacking on updates for good reason but hope to change that now that this years workload has slowed down some. In short, JagPunk:CyberDeck has taken precedence over everything else at this point. I've decided to wait no more in hopes to be able to utilize the GameDrive for it's storage capacity. Instead, I will charge forward with a 6MB version of JagPunk, that is not going to be GD-specific. Tough titty said the kitty! I'll also try to keep these updates shorter and easier to digest quickly in bursts. Attached are two earlier versions of CyberDeck tests (from the Future Ends deck I've made) that are shown in 256-Color and 16-bit. For those of you who are curious enough to bother loading and comparing the two, you'll quickly see why I ultimately wanted to remain with 16-bit cards regardless: quality. The flipside to that being, the Jaguar is being a Fussy Pussy about it and pitching a bitch about my asking too much of it. So... I had to slim the cards down some, but that turned out to be a good thing in the end. Both design-wise and space-wise. The originals were mostly placeholder anyway and the shorthand descriptions on the bottom are redundant since they will be visible in the text field when highlighted. Also feel the cards in the CyberDeck16Bit ROM are ideal because they no longer overlay the credits/cost of each directly onto the graphic artwork but instead slightly below or above, making it easier to actually see wtf they are. Hopefully. There is zero interaction with these ROMS outside of hearing the title screen music and graphic, pressing B to load the placeholder playing field and auto-cyclying through the few cards that were implemented at that time. 0 takes you back to the title screen and that's it. But it should give you a good idea of what's in mind and where it's going. CyberDeck256.rom CyberDeck16Bit.rom Currently, there are 4-decks in the game (Future Ends, CyberNaux, Synahx, and NeoNet). The first two are fully implemented, Synahx is next to add and is mostly complete with NeoNet needing an entire deck of 25 or so Primary Cards and 15ish Auxiliary cards. With that said.... Calling all Card Idea and Name Submissions! If you're interested in coming up with a few card names and ideas, feel free to add them below and I'll consider adding them to the NeoNet deck. They must be 12 characters long in name or less, include a short description of what they do, how much damage they deal, etc. NeoNet is primarily a hacking deck and those cards should reflect such but I'll remain open-minded about adding oddballs here and there. Here's a few examples from Future Ends and CyberNaux: Subject to change, the game is currently setup to randomly draw 5 cards each round in turn based fashion (first 3 are PRIMARY cards, last two are AUX cards). You'll roll 3 digital dice each round for data credits to use a card. 2 dice total for primary cards and 1 die for the AUX cards. Each die only up to 6 like standard dice. So if you roll a 4 and a 3 on the first two, you'll have 7 to use for a Primary card. Then the 3rd will be whatever it lands on for an AUX card. Hopefully that makes sense and in the end is supposed to be a lot easier to understand or grasp. The pink/red data notches on the bottom of the card indicate damage dealt (or in some cases health gained), depending on the card. The green or yellow notches on top indicate the cost to use the card with data credits. If you roll less than, you obviously can't use them. Data Credits do not rollover into the next round. The Red and Yellow claws are simply the cards turned over and help signify that they are PRIME or AUX. Primary Card Example: DERANGED: Damage Dealt: 3 Points; Data Credit Cost: 4 Primary Card Example: ACID RAIN: Damage Dealt: 6 Points; Data Credit Cost: 6 "Desc Text: May Drops of Rain Melt You!" Auxiliary Card Example: HEART ZAP: Health Gained: 3 Points; Aux Credit Cost: 3 So if a Player rolls a total of 7 for the first two dice and a 4, you would be able to play your choice of Acid Rain or Deranged as well as Heart Zap. That of course will not always be the case. Some rounds you might not be able to play any cards. Here's some Deck Select screen music outtakes created using nothing other than Atari gear (Atari STe, Stacy and Hotz): DeckSelectOuttakes.mp3 I didn't like the data notches on the sides of the playing field after all so those are gone now. I'm still working on a slicker interface to connect it all together and hope that will solve the issue of displaying cost/dmg dealt/etc. to each player left and right / player 1 and 2. Let's see how long it takes me for another update...
  14. Say what you will about the Cosmos, but had that been released back when I was a kid, it would have been badass compared to the monochrome Tiger handhelds that came even later. There would have been some whimsical or magical mysticism to having such a cool futuristic device at such a young age in the 80s! All the talk about the Panther and Duo, I still don't understand Atari naming what simply appears to be a 2nd revision of the Jaguar (only with Tom and Jerry neatly aligned) as "Jaguar Console II' on their fab drawings. Oddly, that was April 1st, 1994. This was grouped together with the JagDuo files though. Also interestingly, the 2nd revision has part number listed as: 700062, inverting the ending numbers of the original Jaguar's assembly number: 700026. Waiting for current Atari to catch wind of the naming conventions used and release a Cheetah....
  15. Only 750 miles away from me but I’d try and make the drive.
  16. I just bought one of these (waiting now) and the label says made in Hong Kong. Not sure if there’s any significance to it but unlike all of the other labels I’ve seen that have a number stamped after the A1 but before the rest of the serial number, this one is blank. Took me off guard at first since it was listed as a 65xe and it’s laid out with expansion like a 130xe in the back so of course I did a double take and snagged it regardless.
  17. Only interested in items in working and greatly cared for condition please but am looking for the following: Atari XC11 Tape Drive Atari XF551 Disk Drive Atari ST SF314 720k Double Density Drive Atari Jaguar ICD CatBox Located in the U.S., please send me a PM with what you have and how much you're asking. Thanks
  18. Great interview, thanks for this. Truly is the best 7800 game ever, these guys did a straight bang up job. Really a shame it didn't do well but not sure what that means when we're talking about a homebrew game in general on the 7800 at that.
  19. Beautiful! (nevermind the camera crt refresh) every pixel draw works great , thanks
  20. Composite is the only option for me currently. It’s not a big deal ultimately, just some bizarro I noticed since I love trying these things. I’ll give this a go later tonight to see…
  21. If they make some CX78 joypad recreations, I would definitely pick some up. Price on their joysticks seem very fair, look forward to seeing how they perform. Assuming it will be just fine.
  22. Video looks amazing, I'm guessing this is due to PAL though as I'm running NTSC on Model M:
  23. Rarely do I splurge on non-Jaguar related games (even as much as I love the Lynx) but this game must make the exception list. What a wonderful display, amazing attention to detail and just overall Grade-A polish with beautiful artwork all around! Congrats on the release (despite me coming to the party many months late)... my Lynx is sure to thank you, soon. 💥
