I'm currently writing one up myself having been last Friday to see it. Lots more photos though Dunno where it'll get hosted yet as my site is offline (probably DP as Joe said he'll take it), will link when up...

Has a Gamecube ever froze when you were playing?
Mayhem replied to thesimpsons69's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Once during Rogue Leader and once during loading for Soccer Slam for some bizarre reason. Also Burnout has juddered a couple of times during play (stopped for a split second). -
One screenshot hopefully coming your way John!

1) Yes you can search it. Usually though unless the bot is ultra dumb, you'll need a snooze to get it. Go up the lift in the middle to the highest point; jump right onto the floor with the two DAT machines; jump left onto the small platform (yes it is possible, a lot harder than the C64 version I play!); jump right onto the platform in question. 2) Got the PAL 7800, game and TV. And a digital camera. AND I can complete the game. Guess I'll have a go!

Exactly. Which is why in this one case, I'm not fussy about how I get it

Being in PAL land makes this interesting. Fortunately I think I have everything that came out on PAL, which just leaves some NTSC titles. I definitely still need: Tank Command Summer Games Real Sports Baseball Klax Absolute/Activision titles (except Super Skateboarding) if they came on PAL (if not then NTSC). I also need a lightgun, so anyone with one spare, let me know. I have plenty of complete PAL games to trade for them if anyone wants them, or the usual substitute of cash US$ Also to say, that with the exception of Tank Command, I'm only really interested in complete copies of titles... I have a copy of it, sadly not for trade/sale. It was made by Windham Classics (a division of Spinnaker at the time) and took the form of an arcade adventure. Your best bet would be to look on eBay for a copy really... OR post a message on the Buy&Sell FORUM board at this site as a lot of ppl go there: http://www.lemon64.com

All boxes have that mistakes as far as I know. Being a PAL owner, I have no need for the cartridge as that game is built into the machine
-
And I should be able to say as I got my complete copy of Sentinel for UK£4 (US$6). I should have gotten in for Klax straight away even though it probably won't work on my PAL 7800... still got to get it!
-
Sorry to have to say this, but Sentinel is piss easy to find if you're willing to look in European auctions. It's as common as muck and most Euro vendors will ship to the US. Problem solved. The high price for it is ridiculous personally...

Sundays will usually bring in the most money as that day has the highest net/eBay usage of the week.

Ah yes, I was forgetting that some rooms have more than one terminal. Not that I use them much anyhows Best time for completion is 1:14 with a score of just over 28,000...
-
1) 36 2) 30 (one in each room bar the two code rooms) 3) Not sure offhand. Probably about 200.

PAL version is fine, as I've completed it many times. It is actually harder than the C64 version because the leeway on jumping over the robots is a lot smaller...

Must be good... it's the only non-UK game in my top 10 C64 list Not impossible, but a damn good game...
-
Anything in this list is good: http://www.geocities.com/MayhemNaboo/top10.htm Plus... Last Ninja trilogy Turrican 1/2 Armalyte Turbocharge Bard's Tale trilogy Gyruss Wizard of Wor Thrust Uridium Lords of Chaos

Do not listen to the nah-sayer there As long as you have the latest version of StarCom and run it in DOS mode (failing that Async mode in the program itself) you should be able to use any PC you have. Having said that, I use it on my old 486 as it is less hassle heh...

And the answer the question about how long the C64 has been around... during the CGExpo this year, we will be celebrating 20 years of the machine From my sources, it was first sold on August 16th 1982...

As the C64 guru here... the story... Back in 1987, a German company called Rainbow Arts released a SMB clone for the C64 called Great Giana Sisters. Some months later, when it has been released abroad, Nintendo banned the game and forced it to be taken off the shelves. Hence outside Germany it's a pretty rare game, and original copies are worth $20-30 if you can find them. Not the first time it happened to Rainbow Arts either. They also got slapped by Activision for selling an R-Type clone called Katakis. The game was rejigged and resold as Denaris a few months later. Katakis originals are also worth $15-20 if you can find them. Some enterprising bods then decided to hack the game and replace the main sprite with one of Mario instead. This is the SMB version you'll find floating on the net for the C64. It's a hack.

Look on eBay. Plenty always there to buy at cheap prices...

Well here's a start for you... based on my NTSC encounters so far: Ninja Golf - yes but graphics totally useless Touchdown Football - as above Midnight Mutants - crashes immediately Summer/Winter Games - crashes immediately Robotron - crashes on title screen Ms Pacman - glitches at bottom, works Water Ski - graphics wrap slightly but playable The Hi-Score cart from Curt Wendel doesn't work at all sadly...
-
Mitch - cheers for that. Bit pricey (or is that in Canadian $?) but I might get one and a couple of NTSC 7800 carts I'm missing at the same time. Markimus - yes, I'm the same guy from Lemon 64 now. 7800 is my secondary collecting hobby after the C64 now
-
Depends what you mean by "not work". Some refuse full stop (Robotron, Winter Games), some have huge graphical glitches (Ninja Golf, Touchdown Football) and some have minor graphics stuff-ups and are still playable (Ms Pacman, Water Ski). Generally I have the PAL version unless it isn't available...

Secret Quest... care to point me in the appropriate direction as I'm looking for a decent gun for the 7800...

There are two stories about Starfox in the UK so I've heard. The one that sounds more plausible is that Ariolasoft released a game called Starfox for C64 back in 1987 (which I have), hence they changed the name as copyright was still in force. And I'm not a new forum member here actually heh. Just you have to register now to be able to post. Been a "guest" before
