Wow, even CSDb acts accordingly to the takedown. I would assume in a few months time, it might leak back to more official places, when the media hype is over unless Nintendo actively scans the entire Internet for new and reuploaded files.
Actually more like you can't see the links unless you are logged in...

With the amazing Stramashzone out now, has there ever been a homebrew of a really close Asteroids port? That would be a dream for me!
PS, why I love Vectrex is because I love vector graphics, and that portable screen. I've always loved it, always will. Wish there were more qualified guys out there to service them, though.
The latest VecFever firmware update allows you to directly emulate Asteroids...

Good plan, I thought it looked a bit uncomfortable as well. Seems like I did an interest check on these a while back now that I recall and there wasn’t a lot of interest. Maybe that’s why Victor only made 11. It’s amazing that a system with so few games has such a following. I guess VecFever is real.
Making the bases wasn't cheap. I guess you're going to make a few as proof of concept, work on the project, gauge interest (there was certainly a lot!) and see how the initial batch sells before thinking of continuing. Except the two guys fell out before any were totally complete and ready to roll, so that nixed any sort of continuation on the project past what had already been produced. Can't say if the offer to buy them had been extended more widely they would have sold quicker, given the price, but seeing how many Radpads have sold to date, and they were not much cheaper to buy than the price I paid for the one you referenced, then maybe price isn't a factor here.

Thanks! Good to know... I'll have to figure out a way to photo and video upside down in the future
If you are using an iPhone for example, when you go into Photos app, if you are holding the device with the Home button at the bottom, the default thumbnail will demonstrate exactly how it will show in a web browser. You can actually rotate the photo in the Photos app to be correctly orientated in this stance, so it then looks okay when posting. Usually what I do before posting to FB from my phone to prevent photos being sideways.
-
Don't know why that does that with the photos, they are correct on my computer and correct on the post I just did to Facebook and the thumbnails were correct, but... dunno :-/
Browsers don't obey EXIF data in photos, including which way around is "up". If you are taking shots with an iPhone for example, "up" is when the Home button is at the bottom of the phone. I know this as I helped test our apps in my previous job for reading and processing it correctly when displaying images.

Yeah, this is why I was asking, makes a lot more sense for non-US buyers who can put their own POKEY in it heh.

Froggie is now available in the AtariAge Store! And if you want a version with POKEY audio, I've added that as an option as well (you'll need to send in a POKEY or Ballblazer cart).
..Al
Is the reason the POKEY version of Froggie is $10 more because of the different board needed? Also, do we have to supply the POKEY at order fulfilment because it is soldered to the board, not socketed, and thus why we can't it ourselves (or you could try) after the game is delivered?
-
No, VecFlash is no longer being produced. I'm sure some of us (including me) can try out the build to have a look. Do they have a no buzz Vectrex btw?
-
Yeah not sure one has really been constructed. Many of the games are roughly the same rarity. Notable differences are Dark Chambers, Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, and Scrapyard Dog being harder to find than NTSC; conversely Alien Brigade, Mean 18, Planet Smashers, Ninja Golf, and Midnight Mutants are arguably easier to find.
-
I was under the impression that the bare circuit board version of Magicard (which I used to own) was the first release of the product, sold with manual, overlays in a clear baggie, and the blue label shell version was next.
-
I'm sure this will sound like a stupid question, but as one that never installed a POKEY on their Cuttle Cart II, will this open up POKEY audio for me with standard POKEY-enhanced 7800 games via my CCII?
Or does a game explicitly have to be programmed with XM module support in order to access the XM's onboard POKEY capabilities?
Interesting question that first one... would be interesting to here. I did put a POKEY on my CC2 (back when they were easier to find!) so never had to worry...

The earlier anthro PacMan artwork was used for the European release iirc.

Nothing rare there but should fetch a decent price.

The games do exist on standalone cartridges for a lucky few that were given them, albeit without the high score saving I believe, and a little cut down due to fitting into 32K size. However sadly plans for marketing them as titles was shelved, and the only real way to get them is to own a VecFever.
-
Not going to help, all the boxes released in Europe are the US boxes. The only way to find out is to plug the cart in.

Firetrack has a score of 6.5 / 10 on Lemon64, which I think translates to "quite decent, but not memorable for all future". I've played the Beeb version and it is good, though the copy I've got is bugged so it has autofire and only lasts a level or so. There may be other games on the Beeb with similar qualities, though I can't name them off-hand.
Firetrack is automatic fire, the "fire" button makes you fire faster heh... so that's not a bug. Being unable to go past level 1, is however...

Yes, that pretty much matches what Crane told me when I asked him about Ghostbusters at CGE 2003 over dinner...
