I've had a few people in the last week or so ask me about cleaning a cart for a new label. I wanted to refer them to this topic, but I couldn't find it. Well, I found it so I thought I would bump it because is has some good info in it.

At 14:23 you can see Commodore wants in on the action too! 🤣
Now that's just funny!

Where are any ColecoVision homebrews, or any conversions from their cousin ADAM to their unit like what we have with our growing library of 5200 conversions from the 8-bit (400/800/XL/XE) computers???
Do ColecoVision owners have guys like @playsoft, @Thelen, @TIX, @CPUWIZ, and many others who are dedicated in leading the way putting out new original games for Big Sexy??? I can't think of any. How about units like the brilliant new (pending) Super 52 that @edladdin is working on, and the Wico 5200 self-centering joystick and its touch-tone telephone-quality keypad, and the Competition Pro that came out years ago, and also things like what @Albert came out with years ago like Redemption 5200 (and the Masterplay Clone) to allow that vast assortment of other controllers for other systems (2600/Sega, 7800, and PC) to be used as alternatives to the (somewhat-quirky) CX52 joystick???
And how about that brilliant CX53 Trak-Ball that when regularly maintained, can last almost forever. And what about Best Electronics with the gold-plated 5200 flex circuitry and the better bubble contacts for both the CX24 (7800) and CX40 (2600/Sega) joysticks??? And the 2600 adapter, and lest we not forget the brand new ProPaddle 2 5200-compatible paddle controller from 0711 Spiele in Germany that makes Tempest (and Kaboom! and Super Breakout among others) a dream to play as opposed to a joystick or Trak-Ball!!!
How about a loyal and dedicated following including all of us on AA that also spans 4 decades even to this very day!!!
The Atari 5200, by far the best, even 4 decades later. Fact of the matter. Bottom line.
You might want to visit the Colecovision section here at Atari Age. I think you would be surprised to find the Colecovision homebrew community is quite large.

Activision Reproduction Overlays:
- Beamrider
- Keystone Kapers
- MegaMania
- Zenji
CBS Electronics Reproduction Overlays:
- MegaMania
Parker Bothers Reproduction Overlays:
- Star Wars Arcade Game
- Star Wars Return of the Jedi Death Star Battle
- SuperCobra
Big Five Software Reproduction Overlays:
- Bounty Bob Strikes Back
- Miner2049er
Just an FYI, there is no CBS Electronics "MegaMaina". That was a typo mistake that I made when making the list. Sorry about that.

With great concentration and application of all these strategies, I was able to make it to... the 2nd red serpent on the first level 😞 I'm not getting the 2nd two lasers off fast enough to stave off the insta-kill even when I have full shields and full weapons at this point.
A very small part of what was throwing me off before: The manual is incorrect, in that it states "1" selects shield powerups and "2" selects weapon powerups. They're the opposite of that, and I also have a really nice looking aftermarket Zero 5 controller overlay from @pboland which I was relying on even more than the manual which matches the incorrect manual button layout unfortunately. Took me way too long to notice this. WTF Telegames? Hopefully future overlays can be corrected...
I wish I would have known this sooner. Thanks for the update. I'll have to update the overlay.

Without knowing more about the topic, I would assume if you make a cartridge with a Z80 and enough RAM (32K?) to soft load the ROM portions, it might allow Chess and BASIC to run. But in order to turn a O2 into an O3, you need to update the graphics system as well, plus that the onboard 8048 supposedly runs faster (5.91 MHz vs 3.58 MHz) on the O3, and also differences on the onboard RAM.
I kind of knew the O3 in an O2 was pie in the sky, but does the hardware in the C7010 really add anything to the O2 other than the ability to play chess?

First off, I don't have the technical know how to really implement anything like this but here are some thoughts. I am in the states so my comments will be from that point of view.
On 5/27/2020 at 12:55 PM, Mikebloke said:I don't think anything that is normal sized carts have anything special, not even the Parker or imagic games as far as I'm aware. You have the chess module with the big brick that is supposed to sit on top of your machine awkwardly though. Guess the one ozyr mentioned might be the only one.
I don't think there is anything limiting a dpc+ style system for a new cart, it's just not been developed enough to warrant it. The keyboard capability might make it attractive for some unique features I guess.
From what I've seen the chess module is the only upgrade that happened to the OD2 (actually the G7000) line. But, it doesn't work with NTSC OD2's. I've always wondered what extra power it really gave the OD2 and if it would be possible to make that added power standard on new PCB's and what that power would truly add...
On 5/14/2020 at 6:54 PM, carlsson said:Does the C7420 BASIC cartridge for the Videopac+ G7400 count? It has its own Z80 with 16K RAM and 16K ROM so pretty much a self contained computer.
But then the thought of the OD3 comes to mind. I know in Europe the G7400 is basically the OD3. Is it possible to build all the upgrades of the G7400/OD3 onto a standard OD2 PCB?
That itself would be a great upgrade for all OD2's. Then all new homebrews could be based on the G7400 hardware capabilities and work on all machines G7000/OD2 & G7400/OD3 (of course there is still the issue of NTSC & PAL to deal with). And yes there would need to be some kind of logic built in to recognize if it is already in a G7400.
I know there would be a lot of issues with this idea but it was just a thought. I don't know if it is really possible to build that kind of upgrade that could fit in a standard OD2 cart shell. I was kind of hoping it would use modern components to achieve that. Of course even it is was possible, it most likely isn't practical.
I don't know. I was just thinking out loud.

Can anyone verify if that is true? I also notice that a listing for it does come up in Pricecharting too. But other than that the rumors are few and far between. Just curious if anyone has any information on how to validate if this actually exists? Or how it was marketed and sold?
Sorry I don't have any info to add, but I'm trying to figure out how a 16K expansion module would work on the Odyssey models you listed (200, 300, 400). These were pong like units and had no CPUs. They used dedicated TI chips (if I recall).
There was a chess module that was released for the videopac? Is this the same idea?

Unfortunately the links to the Facebook page for them has expired, and I believe the seller was UK based. I'd really like to get a set that includes pretty much all the retail and post-retail stuff. Anyone know whatever happened to the guy selling those?
How about pboland's set, how many titles are still missing from a complete retail and post-retail (Telegames, Songbird, B&C, etc) set?
Here's what I have currently. If you guys are interested just PM me.

On 6/5/2020 at 7:13 PM, sixersfan105 said:Curious if anyone has insight on this. I won a game in an eBay auction that ended on May 19th. I paid immediately, as I always do. The seller didn't bother to ship it until May 28th. About halfway through that timeframe, I asked him if he had shipped it yet and he nonchalantly said he had not but that he'd eventually get around to it. Umm...what? I ultimately got it on May 29th (yes, the day after he shipped, because I ironically live only 45 minutes from him).
So, I ultimately left neutral feedback because the item was as described, but he waited nine days to ship, and I felt that warranted neutral feedback, especially since he didn't reach out to me expressing remorse for not shipping earlier or anything. A few days later, I noticed that the neutral feedback I had left had disappeared. My question is how? It was perfectly warranted. Thanks for any insight...
Sorry that happened to you. To be honest, I haven't liked the ebay feedback system since 2007. In the early 2000's anything down to a feedback rating of 95% wasn't bad. Before 2008 the feedback system was just that, real feedback. It didn't matter if you were the seller or the buyer. You each had the opportunity to leave a "positive", "neutral", or "negative" feedback based on the transaction and each party had the opportunity to leave a response to that feedback. That way (as a reader of the feedback) you could more easily determine if a given feedback was warranted or not. It wasn't perfect by any stretch, but it was what it was.
After ebay decided that sellers could no longer leave "neutral" or "negative" feedback (I assume it is still set-up that way), I was done with them. Now it seems every other year or so ebay swings like a pendulum. One year they are all on the side of the buyers (screw the seller) and then the next year it's siding with the sellers (screw the buyers). If they would just stop meddling with the damn feedback system people wouldn't have these kinds of issues and then the feedback rating might actually mean something again.

You are added to the list. I'm up to about five people on the list. If you are interested just let me know in this topic and I will put you on the list.
Once I hit about 10 people of interest I'll make some more.

Sorry I missed this topic earlier. I may be able to help.
I can make replacement controller overlays for the Atari 5200. My overlays are 100% plastic (no paper card stock here) and are computer cut to size. Just PM me if interested (or if you have any questions) and I will send you my current catalog.
Here's a pic to show what I have:

I had some really great advise on replacing the labels versus value. With that help I concluded that anything rare or beyond probably should not have a repro label if trying to retain value for collecting purposes, but that for my own purposes, to display, play, and keep, not only would it make my personal collection look better, but anyone collecting for value will be happy to know I just knocked some carts out of the market. I am not disappointed with the results and will be getting some more.
I'm glad you like them.
If you guys want your carts to look as good as OLD CS1's be sure to PM me for my current Atari 2600 Replacement cart label catalog.

Never noticed that before either. With a quick image search, it does appear to be somewhat common of a variation.
