Those look really cool! Thanks for sharing.

I really wish I could print the color white, but I can't at this time. That's very difficult to do without commercial off-set printing equipment. Even without the white color these labels still look quite good IMO: I have been able to play around with contrast and shading to better approximate the look of white being in label even though it isn't there. There's always the possibility I could print these on standard white label stock (then you would have the white color and they would be cheaper to produce), but then you would loose that metallic look. The labels would just be grey in color. I really think the metallic label looks a lot better then trying to imitate the foil with just grey ink. That's my two cents.

Please be sure to vote in the poll because it will determine if I make the original style or not. The '84 style will be made no matter what (just incase that wasn't clear), but I'm using this poll to determine if I should spend time/energy making the original style labels as well.

I remember "All Electronics" (discount electronics parts catalog) back in the early 2000's (I want to say 2000 or 2001) was actually selling the consoles and controllers separately as "parts" (meaning no retail box/packaging). They were all brand new never used. The consoles were only like $7.00 each and the controllers were (I want to say) $2.00 each. I actually bought five consoles and five controllers. I never heard of the console before and in 2010 I got rid of them as I never found any games for it. I held on to those things for about 10 years and now games are starting to surface. BTW, don't go to All Electronics looking for them as they no longer have any for sale.

I don’t know if I can name just three: BTW, I had the SMS instead of an NES back in the day by choice. 1) Phantasy Star - a must have for RPGs 2) Choplifter - possibly the best home version up to that time. 3) Rambo II - The closest thing to home version of ikari warriors I could play. If I made the list longer it would include (in no particular order): Shinobi, Rambo III, Rastan, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Ghost House, Space Harrier, Thunder Blade, Rescue Mission, Miracle Warriors, Zaxxon 3D, Space Harrier 3D, and Maze Hunter 3D. After X-mas of 1989 I had Genesis and never bought another SMS game after that (until I started collecting SMS titles in the early 2000's).

I still offer those labels just not at the special bundle price. PM me if you are still interested.

I can put that on my "to do" list. What about "Double Dragon"? Does that game have the same problem as Rampage?

Have you ever tried using a hair dryer to gently warm the cart label? I've had pretty good success using that method. You would still need to clean some the of left over sticker residue with goo gone. It doesn't work on all carts, but I've had it work on many. Mainly I couldn't get the hair dryer method to work on the labels that are dried out and stuck like concrete. Those I just had to soak in goo gone.

Here are the titles I think are going to be next on the docket: - Alien Brigade - Ace of Aces - Basketbrawl - Choplifter - Commando - Crack'ed - Crossbow - Dark Chambers - Desert Falcon - Fatal Run - Fight Night - Hat Trick - Impossible Mission - Karateka - Mario Bros. I'm looking forward to a few more responses to this poll as well.

For those that don't know, back in May 2017 I offered new reproductions 7800 cart labels in the 1984 style format. See INTEREST CHECK: New Reproduction 7800 Sliver Labels… example pic: Well, I'm now in the process of adding more 7800 labels to my catalog and I'm wanting to know if you guys think I should stick with the '84 style only or if I should redo the originals but in color as well? Let me know what you guys think.

I can tell you that getting a scan copy of the original label never works out that great. I normally have to piece together the artwork from other materials to "rebuild" the label art (heck, sometimes I've had to redraw portions of labels). That's how I get my labels to look really clear. In many cases the labels end up looking clearer (and cleaner) than the originals. If you guys are ever interested, I have many labels available for many pre-crash systems carts. Just PM me if you have any questions.

I could if I have a good scan of the other original. Or I can find enough original art to piece one together. But right now, No I don't.

By all means, go with it. I was not trying to tell you not to do it. I was merely stating why I don't make foil labels that way. You are not the first to like DIY. How do you think I got started doing this? I'm not a professional printer. I make more than just labels. I also make controller overlays, posters and special projects all dealing with classic video games. I got started because I felt nobody was doing the things I wanted to my standard. I'm guessing you are the same way and a perfectionist at that. My labels are 99% but to achieve the one more percent to make 100% I find can sometime not be worth it (in the case of DataAge it's the white logo). I have already spent a great amount of time, energy and money to get to that 99%. And when I look at that one more percent and I realize it's going to take everything of the last 99% plus double that (or even triple that), it just isn't worth it yet. In time it will be, but right now it is not for me. Good luck! and I look forward to your results.

There are several ways to go about having the white color in the print. I've considered many already and actually considered an idea very much like what you have stated above and I decided against it for a couple of reasons. The main reason is a "cost vs. effort". Yes, there are ways to go about getting white on foil but in the end my goal was to make this at a reasonable price point for most people. The more work I put into a label the more I will need to charge for that label. And it isn't just DataAge labels that this needs to work but also Imagic, 5200, 7800 and a few other labels. I'm sure it will work for one or two labels, but doing this for say 20 labels is going to be very time consuming.

You did the work! I just made the suggestion. I thank you for making a game the uses the keypad controller. I always felt it was an under used peripheral that had a lot to offer. When I get time I will make up an overlay for your awesome game. BTW, when you make this into a cart, I would love to purchase a copy.

What’s up with goodwill?
pboland replied to FOX2600's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
I don’t know how long some of you guys have been collecting, but I started around 1995. Goodwill was great back then. Of course this was before eBay was ubiquitous. It was like going to a garage sale every other day at lunch (yep that was how often I went to one local Goodwill). On the weekends I would visit about 5 different Goodwills. Every week I had some pretty good finds. BITD, Goodwill knew that stuff was donated and they priced things fairly. When you get stuff for free any price is a profit. Around 2004 every thing changed about Goodwill’s pricing (at least locally). To give you an idea, before 2004 pre-crash game systems typically where under $5.00 ($7-10 if it was complete with RF box, power, & controllers). After 2004, $20.00 and up (bare system). Carts before 2004 where $0.25 - $0.50 each (yes you are reading that correctly). After 2004 $5.00 plus (even for combat) For that nine years my collection grew greatly and it didn’t cost an arm and a leg. For the most part I don’t go to Goodwill any more (and really haven’t much since 2004). Yes, I stop in about once or twice a year just to see if something has change, but it has only gotten worse with time. Post crash systems (i.e. Atari 7800, NES, SMS) barely ever showed up at Goodwill and when they did the pricing was just stupid. Ebay killed thrifting locally (flee markets & garage sales too). Now everybody checks eBay for their pricing. Sure deals come up from time to time, but not like it was just 10 or so years ago. No more can you find good video game stuff for change every week. Now you are lucky if you get a $10.00-$12.00 game (eBay price) for just $7.00 in the wild. That’s considered a great find! One of my best Goodwill finds happen around 2000. I picked up an Odyssey 300 for $3.00 and it worked and looked great. Goodwill didn’t know what it was, so they just put a few dollars on it. In reality everything I got back then was a great find. I remember a 5200 4 port with controllers, RF, power for $10.00. And yes the controller storage door was still on it and it looked great. I picked up all ten 5200 game carts (carts only) Goodwill had on another shelf for $1.00 each. This was the kind of finds I would have at least every week in a half or so back then. -
Yes I do. I also make DataAge and Spectravideo foil type labels (as well as 5200 & 7800 foil labels). Please keep in mind that I can not print the color "white". This mean anything on one of these labels that would be white comes out as the foil color. If you have any questions just PM me.
-
If you are interested, I offer reproductions labels (I do not sell on eBay). If you are interested just shoot me a PM. I have a large catalog of titles so I will not list them here (including foil based labels). All labels are cut to correct size and shape (just peel and stick). Here's an image of just my Activision titles:

Does anybody else rock a CRT?
pboland replied to DustyCartridges's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Thanks! I can tell you that my RCA tv is not a new find. I actually bought it new back in 1999. I just never got rid of it. Back then flat tv's were not common place yet and still quite expensive. Finding a floor model TV is kind of difficult as they were not in style at the time I bought it. I remember the furniture store (where it was purchased) only had two floor model TVs. Both RCA, the 32 inch that I have and a 27 inch that looked just like my 32" only smaller (obviously). By the 1990's most people didn't want floor model sets (everyone had those big wall entertainment centers), so it is a little difficult these days to find one of these TV sets from this time frame (meaning late 1990's floor model). -

pboland replied to DustyCartridges's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Here's my main gaming (and video tape yes, VHS & Beta) set-up: It's a 1999 Home Theater Premier 32" RCA floor model. Awesome picture and great stereo sound. Sorry I don't play much modern games. They just aren't my thing. I do have a wii in that floor model, but that's mainly for my youngest daughter. Yes, I do own a modern-ish flat panel (46" LED Samsung 1080p), but that is not in my basement. The basement is basically my hobby room. I actually own six other CRT TV's ranging from 27"(JVC) down to 12"(Sony). CRT's have never left my house. For that reason I never looked at CRT's as a pain because they are heavy/bulky. I just see them as TV's (nature of the beast sort of thing). -
What consoles would you like to see made as a flashback
pboland replied to maxdrive's topic in Dedicated Systems
I would like to see mainly an Atari 8-bit computer/5200 in a 2600 case (but you could just as easily make it all Atari system emu box): Old discussion. I think you might have been part of that discussion way back in 2007? Memory is a little fuzzy I could be wrong. But honestly this is easily solved by putting an all Atari system emu box in a 2600 looking case. Call it something like "Atari Flashback Extreme". Make it look like a Vader model. Heck, here's what I stated back in '07 about trying to get an Atari 8-bit computer flashback: ___________________________________________________ pboland, on Sun Jan 14, 2007 3:23 PM, said: Must people recognize the 2600 (even though they don't know it was called a 2600, they just recognize the shape). When you ask people (outside of AtariAge) what video game system they first had, they will say "an Atari". To most people Atari is the VCS or 2600, but they don't know the systems name they just know it was an Atari. A lot of these people don't even know there was a system after the 2600. That got me thinking, I think the new FB3 should still be based on an 800XL but put in a 2600 vader like unit (see pic). You might think this is odd, but think about it for a minute: 1) The average consumer would recognize the 2600 shape (more sales!) 2) Atari would save mass amounts money getting it made (re-use the molds, retail box with new art & box inserts!) 3) We the atari fans would have a FB that we could mod into a full atari computer! 4) It would be way cool to have chrome buttons (OK that is a stretch, but still) I think this might work, but then again maybe I'm thinking alittle too much about it. ___________________________________________________ -
Not my Atari VCS (that console formerly known as Ataribox)
pboland replied to Tidus79001's topic in Atari 2600
That might count! Then again, the term VCS is in ( ). Don't know if it really matters. Again, I really don't care one way or another because at this point I can't see the Ataco Box really happening anyway. -

pboland replied to Tidus79001's topic in Atari 2600
Thanks for the images but, again I don't see the term "ATARI VCS" anywhere in those images. I see "Atari Video Computer System" on those images (legally a big difference). I know what "VCS" stands for, but it don't think it ever was an official name for the original CX2600. I agree it is very confusing for new Atari to use the name "VCS", but from what I see that actual term (VCS) for a console has never been used officially. -

pboland replied to Tidus79001's topic in Atari 2600
Thank you. At this point I don't really see a trademark for the term "VCS". The copyright on those mags are for "The Atari VCS Owners Club Bulletin" not "Atari VCS" Look, I really don't care about Ataribox at this point. I just thought I would point out that the term "Atari VCS" was never the official name of the original CX2600. I realize that people have a strong attachment to that name, but people are throwing the term around as if it was an OFFICIAL Term. It wasn't. That is why current Atari (I'm guessing) feels they can use the name "ATARI VCS".
