  1. So I was going to sell this Saturn on eBay just now, then found out about their anti-import playing policy. So I am going to offer it here instead.

    Here's a picture:

And the description I was going to post on eBay:

Up for auction is an original, 1st model (MK-80000), Sega Saturn console. The system is clean, the lens is flawless, and features a mod that allows it to play import (NTSC-J & PAL) games. The details on the mod can be found here:

    http://www.gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=imp...ing_the_jumpers

The mod is attached to the bottom side of the circuit board and a blue wire runs out of the Saturn through the battery compartment. This allows for a switch to be attached so the region can be changed without taking apart the system. The switch is no longer attached to the wire. One contact is disrupted on the mod and as a result it loads only US discs sporadically, with the system needing to be reset once in a while when a disc does not load. Once a disc loads the system plays perfectly with no interruptions during game play.

The mod can be removed if its functionality isn’t needed or fixed to expand the Saturn’s current library of games.

The console comes with a power cable, RF adapter, and a controller. The controller does not work, the contacts on the tip have been torn but it is probably an easy fix. With the exception of the controller all other accessories work perfectly.

Just to recap, the import switch probably functions but I can't test that functionality, so as of now it only plays US games but with some soldering it will play all regions.

PM me with offers, questions, or requests for more pics.

I prefer to be paid with a Postal Money Order.

    Thanks :)

This is now on eBay, if someone could move this to Auction Central, that would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I bought a Saturn lot for a controller and the system in the lot has a weird mod. A blue wire coming out near the battery and a homemade hole in the system. It seems to be in the place for a region switch but I have not checked which jumpers its connected to (if any), thought I'd ask here first. This brings me to my next point, the Saturn won't load the discs, it won't even spin them, I believe this is because of the region mod and that it is set to another region besides the US.

Looking at it now is there any way to switch between regions if it is such a switch? And if it's not, what is it?

    Pics show what I mean:

  3. interesting...all the local Best Buy ads that came in the Sunday paper said they would have it avaiable by Tuesday (The 10th) by 2pm. If they don't you get something like $20 off a future purchase.

So I might be making the trip up to my nearest Best Buy at lunch tomorrow and see if they honor this.

To my knowledge, that's Circuit City stores not BB.

  4. Get those cables! Do you have any games for the system yet or have any plans on certain titles? The Saturn is my favorite game consule and have been collecting for it the past 2 years. Recently I had someone online modify a unit for me so I could switch between EU/US/JPN regions and it has opened more gaming for me and has worked out great.

The kid at the flea market just had the Saturn, but there's also a Virtua Cop 2 disk in there, sadly no gun, or controllers. Lately I've been really into retro games, and thought that the disc-based consoles would be a nice place to start. Plus I've rarely seen a Saturn in my expeditions, and for $3.00 I couldn't let it slip by.

As for games I plan on getting anything I come across, hopefully I come across Guardian Heroes, Grandia, NiGHTS,( plus maybe Shining Force III and Panzer Dragoon Saga ;) )

    Any other recommendations?

  5. I have a TI-99/4A computer for sale, the box is quite worn, and foam insert is there and all of the instruction manuals, and two carts; also included is the power brick, but not the computer-to-monitor cable. I don't even know if the unit powers on, but will find out and post pics.

    PM me if you're interested.
