  1. Just as a warning, this goes against both eBay policy and PayPal policy, and your eBay name can be suspended and/or your PayPal funds frozen if you are reported doing this.
  2. Being 100% honest here, I love shooters and Raiden is amongst the cream of my crop. I have spent hours upon hours with the Jaguar version, and I will drop in a few dollars any time I run across it in the arcades. I'm starting to look into getting a PS2, so I may have to start looking for that game. Can anyone say how it compares to the Jaguar version, and is Raiden 2 a solid port?
  3. Tying your bank account to PayPal isn't bad. I've actually had a personal account on PayPal since the first month they were open (back when they were giving away $10.00 free to signup and $10.00 free to each referral! I made over $100.00!) As for the original post, I completely understand why a seller may not want to use PayPal. It took the GOAT Store forever to start accepting PayPal because it does cost a heck of a lot to pay eBay's fees for small businesses. I think the GOAT Store has paid around $100.00 in PayPal fees this year alone. Once a place gets big enough though, PayPal is a pretty darn good service. Something that you may also not realize is that every time that a store like Wal*Mart or Best Buy or whatever accepts your credit card, they are paying the credit card company a percentage of the sale. That is one of the main ways that credit card companies earn their cash.
  4. I have heard that. With MS already having Perfect Dark, perhaps my new DVD player will be a XBox simply because of that fact. Whoops! Okay, so I got Shenmue II recently... d'oh! I was able to pick up Headhunter in Europe (for less than $15.00 US dollars ) and I've got an extra import Shenmue...
  5. Interesting topic... On a Microsoft note, I have to say that while I don't necessarly agree with all of Microsoft's methods of conducting business, they are an incredible company. Bill Gates has had the foresight to create something necessary for computers and to make a fortune off of that foresight. While many hate him for it, I respect his ability. That having been said, a lot of stuff that I've had to deal with through Microsoft is crap. When you have a legal copy of Windows 98 on a store-bought computer and that computer's harddrive dies, you cannot get another copy to reinstall it without paying for it again. That is pretty crummy. Now, onto topic... I have had between little and no interest in the XBox because, quite frankly, it doesn't have any interesting software that I can't get on another system. I *almost* fell for one right away, as I am a big Dead of Alive fan, but DOA3 isn't much more impressive than DOA2 for the Dreamcast. Since the initial release, I have only been interested by Jet Grind Radio Future. Since that game decided to remove the one part that made me love the original, I see absolutely no reason to even consider it's purchase. I have Shenmue III on my Dreamcast already. I am not interested in the Halo series. I just have no interest in XBox software. To be fair, I also have no interest in PS2 software. Nothing has yet made me think that I had to pick up a PS2. As for the GameCube, Super Monkey Ball is where it is at. I haven't yet picked me up a GameCube and probably won't until either a Perfect Dark sequel comes out or something else overly innovative, but Nintendo currently has the software I'm interested in... That, and import Dreamcast games Anyone know where I can get a cheap copy of Samba de Amigo Ver. 2000?
  6. While I agree in spirit to what you are saying, I don't agree completely. Gamers in general expect so much more out of their games nowadays, and many companies figure that a higher production value means people will pay more to get it. When the 2600 was the popular system, it would take one, two or maybe even ten programmers six or so months to churn out a decent game. They didn't need to hire voice actors for characters, create an hour of FMV, get the symphony to compose and play a soundtrack or anything like that. Programming teams tend to be bigger, and development cycles of over a year seem to be the norm. I'll agree with you that Half-Life selling at $10.00 a pop probably could've turned a profit, but what about the games that are not as successful as Half Life? Selling your game so cheaply could bury them.
  7. Actually, if we go back in time when SNES releases came out, they were $50ish. When NES releases came out, they were $50ish. When 2600 releases came out, they were $50ish. Someone bought them, or else we wouldn't be collecting anything... You are doing the only thing that you can do, which is not buy. But as you said yourself your friends have the system with four or five games that they paid $50 for apeice, and those are the people driving the industry right now.
  8. Technically, a trend is something that happens for an extended period of time. A few months do not necessarly reflect the trend. When I started my Jaguar collection in 1996, I got many of the items in it very cheaply. Here are some examples: Jaguar system w/ hookups New - $20.00 Jaguar CD system w/ hookups - $40.00 Ultra Vortek New - $10.00 Defender 2000 New - $10.00 Alien Vs. Predator (w/ Japanese instructions) - $20.00 None of these games will probably ever get this cheap again. Video game systems seem to follow a definite trend -- immediately after being discontinued they drop in price regularly to the point where the games are insanely cheap. After reaching the bottom, they start to ever-so-slowly gain value for a while. After that period, their value starts going up much more rapidly. There are exceptions to this, but often the exceptions are usually due to the re-release of a game (as happened with SNES Chrono Trigger), the realization of the rarity of a game (as happened with NES Stadium Events) or the sudden elevation to 'legendary' status (Saturn's Radiant Silvergun).
  9. Icecold -- Yes and no. We do buy stuff from people, but it depends on what it is and if we have money to actually purchase it at the time. Trades are usually much more appreciated If you have anything to sell, just shoot me an email with it...
  10. None of the Circuit Cities in my area ever carried Dreamcast games If anyone runs into any of these games, could you get them for me? 18 Wheeler 4x4 Evolution Aerowings 2: Airstrike Buzz Lightyear of Star Command Ducati World Racing Challenge Evolution 2: Far Off Promises F1 World Grand Prix Giga Wing Gundam: Side Story 0079 King Of Fighters Dream Match 99 Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX Monaco Grand Prix NBA 2K2 Outtrigger Project Justice Street Fighter III: Third Strike Striker Pro 2000 Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense
  11. The GOAT Store has Double Dragon V, Fight For Life, NBA Jam TE, Primal Rage, World Tour Racing and Zool 2 in various conditions with various stuff.
  12. Here are my thoughts on it... One of the main issues that I have with a lot of games sold at the various collectable gaming shows is that their exclusivity sometimes outweighs their availability. I do not think that people are ruining the community by buying or selling games higher than what they paid for them -- hell, people have been paying how much for Battlesphere on the Jaguar? The best way to solve the problem, in my opinion is to make it so that there are more than one way to get the game. The 'exclusive' or 'limited edition' version and the regular version. When we started looking for games for the Midwest Classic, that was a big requirement for all of us. The games that we ended up with -- Warring Worms and Berzerk -- are both available in non-Midwest Classic editions. Collectors do not have to pay an arm and a leg for these versions unless they specifically want too. Just my $.02 cents...
  13. The Minus world does exist! While I have never got there, Gary (GOAT Store partner) can get there usually on one or two tries. It involves getting to level 1-2, and doing something odd near the warp zones. When you warp, you end up in "Level - " Pretty cool, but that level isn't any fun. (it is a swimming level) The only myth that I had I came up with myself -- In Pitfall II, I figured that if I got a high enough score and took a picture of it, I could send it to Activision for my prize. I played the game for hours and even took some pictures of it, but since it was 1988 by the time I was any good... No prize
  14. Hello, I have been working on revising some of the prices in the GOAT Store, and I wanted to more accurately price some of the 2600 stuff. I figured that since everyone here collects it, this would be the best source for figuring out better prices for everything. What would fair prices for the following be? Atari 2600 six switch system w/ hookups Atari 2600 vader system w/ hookups Atari 2600 four switch woodgrain core Atari 2600 vader core Atari 2600 Jr core Coleco Gemini system with all hookups and controllers Telegames six switch core (heavy style) Thanks in advance!
  15. Yes.... if we had any boxes for them Can anyone help me out?
  16. Gary and I are vigorously trying to update as much on the GOAT Store as possible right now, and I've been working on describing more and more games. I would like to get all of Atari done ASAP, but I have never played a 7800 for an extended period of time. Would anyone care to help us by writing a short description of any of the following games? Centipede Galaga Hat Trick Karateka One-On-One Pole Position II Realsports Baseball Here is a good example of what we are looking for: 7800 Asteroids: Asteriods is one of the most famous Atari games ever. Use your ship to blast the asteriods, but beware: each time you hit one it will break into smaller and smaller peices. Can you destroy the asteriods before they destroy you? I don't know how I'd give you credit, but I'll give you a pat on the back as best as possible online :-)
  17. Gary and I are vigorously trying to update as much on the GOAT Store as possible right now, and I've been working on describing more and more games. I would like to get all of Atari done ASAP, but I have never played a 5200 for an extended period of time. Would anyone care to help us by writing a short description of any of the following games? Congo Bongo Dig Dug Frogger Q*Bert Qix Realsports Soccer Space Invaders Super Breakout Vanguard Here is a good example of what we are looking for: 5200 Pac-Man: Pac-Man is the classic maze game that pits Pac-Man against four ghosts that are out to stop him from eating all of the pellets located throughout the maze. Grabbing power pills makes Pac-Man invincible for a set amount of time allowing ghosts to be eaten. I don't know how I'd give you credit, but I'll give you a pat on the back as best as possible online :-)
  18. Finally, it has happened... After months of doubts, delays and such, I finally got a message to me that read that my order had been shipped... what is my order? DC Ikaruga (Treasure) Sweet! It will sit nicely right next to my copies of Headhunter and Planet Ring. Can anyone point me to the site where I can download the disc to make it playable on my 'Cast? Oooo am I excited for this one!
  19. All right, there is only two left now! After those two are sold, we only have three of the Wargear packages left before we are all sold out forever (unless Billy still has a stash I'm unaware of).
  20. It sure is an awesome game! I bought myself a copy of the game before the Midwest Classic and then one at the Midwest Classic. I honestly think that it ranks in the same group as Combat as one of the best 2-player games for the 2600. The difference between the carts is minimal. There is a "Midwest Classic 2002" logo on the cartridge and one on the instruction manual. There is also a Midwest Classic logo screen. Beyond that, it is the same game. I did get some emails about this already, and I'll respond to all of you ASAP about it...
  21. Hello, Before we put the last copys on eBay, we thought we'd offer them on these boards. Check http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...p=129708#129708 here for the actual post in the Marketplace section. Also, if you have already bought a copy of Warring Worms through us and we did not send you an instruction manual with it, please email me at [email protected] and I'll make sure to send one out to you. We had misplaced the manuals when we started selling them, and we've just stumbled across them again. Sorry about any confusion this may have caused
  22. We're trying to keep away from some of the excessive fees that eBay has been charging and offer them to a great community... I've got one handful for Warring Worms cartridges left. This is the non-Wargear ones that just comes with the cartridge. We are willing to sell them for $22.00 apiece, and we will throw in a Midwest Classic T-Shirt for free. If you would rather have a Midwest Classic Polo shirt, just add $3.00 and we can do that instead. If you are interested in getting this limited edition cartridge before it is too late, email me at [email protected] or [email protected] and I'll hook you up. We have only six cartridges left. The cartridge numbers are: 37, 39, 41, 42, 44 and 47. You may specify which one you would like via email
  23. That's right... there are no new games being produced by Sega...
  24. I have already put this in the eBay auction forum, but I figured that the prize offerings once again were the homebrewed Midwest Classic games we're offering. Right now, there are three of the remaining six (I think) Mr. Roboto's and 3 Warring Worms including a Wargear package. If you're interested, check it out! We're getting to the end! http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?...&sort=3&rows=25
  25. If you're interested in 3DO games, NUON Games or Midwest Classic 2600 Homebrews, we've got some up for auction! http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?...&sort=3&rows=25
