  1. Al, Badges would rock. I've got my hands so full between finals this week, "mini"-graduating this Friday (Associates degree) and working at Six Flags / Chuck E Cheese that I think my head is spinning. We haven't had time to do up any badges, and if you would like to do some, I'd _love_ it! Thanks!
  2. It's going to be a large classic gaming gathering in Milwaukee. Hopefully, with lots of attendees. Quick history: Last year Gary and I hosted Atari Jaguar Festival 2K1, a yearly Jaguar event. We had so much fun, we wanted to do it again but the Jaguar community decided to move to St. Louis which will hopefully make that into a very successful event. Anyway, we came up with the idea for an all encompassing gaming event and we're trying our hardest to put together something great. We are having a little bit of trouble announcing finalizations of stuff because one of the main people helping us to plan the event has had some other business which he has had to attend to. Hopefully, within the next few weeks a lot more stuff will come to light. One of what I think will be the highlights of the show will be a demonstration that Gary and I are going to do about how a pinball machine works on the insides. There will also be a ton of tournaments with great prizes from Good Deal Games, Songbird Productions and, of course the GOAT Store, LLC. Couple this with two exclusive 2600 games, and one of the most comprehensive video game collections ever in the Classic Gaming Museum, and it should be one heck of an event! Keep watching the GOAT Store's Web site over the next couple weeks, and if you are at all interested in getting either of the exclusive 2600 games, PLEASE pre-order them so that the people that are making them have enough :-) I can't wait to meet everyone at the classic!

  4. quote: Originally posted by MattG: I've found some good stuff in Philly but... I am still really wanting these six Atari 2600 games more than anything right now... Ram It Ram It is simply one of the best 2600 games ever, and playing it emulated just isn't worth it. Gary and I worked on updating that game for the Lynx, but it never got off the ground. We still have a trial version that works on computers only. It's a blast! Good luck getting that game, as it is my favorite 2600 game ever! (And if you're coming to the Midwest Classic, you can play my cart )
  5. quote: Originally posted by Lemmi: Funcoland is a new/used videogame/system store that opened up in the early 90's on the east coast of the US, I might be wrong, but I'm almost positive that Funcolands were in the Midwest before the 90's. I remember going to them to look for new Nintendo games before Mario 3 was released, and reading through their newspapers to see what new NES games would be coming out soon... quote They weren't from the West Coast. It's Barnes And Noble in disguise.
  6. It depends on a lot of different factors. Basically, Funcoland based their prices on the price that people were willing to pay for games about two years ago. Now that the games have become more collectable, a lot of their prices are off. Some of the rarest NES games can be had for under $5.00 (Stadium Events, the one that sells on eBay for $250-$500) sells at Funco at a list price of $2.99. Some of the more common games that lots of people played sell for more. Games like River City Ransom that were mentioned that are rare, but popular do sell for $10-$25.
  7. May 3, 2002 - Midwest Classic to Offer Two Special Edition 2600 Games The Midwest Classic, a new classic computing, gaming and pinball show being held in Milwaukee, WI for the first time on June 8, 2002 has announced two more reasons why the Midwest Classic is going to be a can't-miss event -- two new versions of great Atari 2600 games! Warring Worms The first game that will be at the event is Baroque Gaming's Warring Worms. Warring Worms was originally released in 2002, and is one of the best home brew games to be released for the Atari 2600 ever! In the game, players control their super-charged, biologically engineered worm in a duel to the death in a style that resembles the popular game Nibbler that may be found on many cellular phones today. Warring Worms features hundreds of different game play options, including player vs. computer and player vs. player options. "Warring Worms is a phenomenal game," stated Dan Loosen of the GOAT Store, LLC. "The addictive and competitive game play resembles Combat. It is incredible!" The Midwest Classic version of Warring Worms will feature a special title screen that the original version does not contain. The game will be able to be purchased for $35.00 with the special packaging, and $25.00 without. Berzerk: Special Edition The second game that will be exclusive to the event is a new version of Berzerk. While the original version of Berzerk was released in 1980, this version is going to feature a musical addition by Paul Slocum. Paul Slocum has already created a musical addition for Combat entitled Combat Rocks which featured the music of the Clash, as well as creating the Synthcart, a way to turn your Atari 2600 into a synthesizer! What song will Berzerk feature? "Berzerk was a great game before," Gary Heil of the GOAT Store, LLC said, "and this will just makes it better!" The Midwest Classic version of Berzerk will feature a special title screen that the original version does not contain, and it will play a special version of a popular song while you blast away at the robots! The game will be able to be purchased for $25.00. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Both Warring Worms and Berzerk will be limited edition runs that will only be available for purchase at the Midwest Classic. The games will be hand numbered by the creators! Both of the special edition games will be featured in tournaments throughout the day, with the winner of the tournament getting the first numbered copy of the game that they won the tournament for! If you are coming to the Midwest Classic and want to make sure that a copy of either game will be there waiting for you, you may reserve either game by visiting the GOAT Store's Web sie here and then visit the Midwest Classic page. Reservations cost $5.00 and must be paid for by midnight on May 22. For more details about how the reservation system works, please read the information contained in the descriptions. For more information about the Midwest Classic, please visit the Official Midwest Classic Web site at the GOAT Store (http://www.goatstore.com/). Dan Loosen can be reached at [email protected] and Gary Heil can be reached at [email protected] for more information.
  8. You also must keep in mind that games that will earn money in arcades will still fetch a much higher price then a game that would sit by itself unplayed at an arcade. Ms. Pac Man, Pac Man, Galaga, Galaxian, Dig Dug and more still earn money. Expect to pay a lot more for them...
  9. quote: Originally posted by Arcadenut: I'm looking for a set of Sega Maracas NIB if anyone knows where I can get a set. Expect to pay through the nose for them. I've been looking for about a half year now, and I haven't caught a lead yet. I did recently find myself a top-loader NES with two "dogbone" controllers, but that took me three years. Maybe in two and a half more years, I'll find my maracas.
  10. Contra is not exactly rare, but it isn't common. It also is an extremely popular and good game that many people purchase and than hold on too, so it sells for a lot more. If you want another Contra game for cheap, get Super C. Most people don't associate it as a sequel to Contra as it doesn't have the name Contra in it, so it usually can be had for under $10.00.
  11. A while ago, someone made a link to the official Dreamcast release list. On that release list were the 250 games that Sega said had been released for the 'Cast. I already know that Midway's Greatest Hits Vol. 2 is not on that list and Sega Swirl is on the later Web browsers, but I have heard that there are other games that were released that are not listed on there. If this is the case, does anyone know of any of them?
  12. Awwwww crap... Damn it all. Well, I guess I'll keep everyone posted, as we really needed a power supply and RF switch to test out some new games with
  13. Three responses: #1: Pyramid-Studios -- It isn't Amazon that is selling the NES items, it is stores that are selling the items through Amazon. It isn't the same thing because there is a good chance that there isn't any more than one item per listing. #2: Gunstar Thanks for the plug, and you basically said the exact same thing that I did above... #3: Atariken64 Funcoland is now owned by Barnes and Noble, so I would really doubt that they are going to remanufacture Nintendos. B&N doesn't exactly know video games that well. Also, expect all of the Funcolands/Software ETC/Babbages in your area to soon be named "GameStop" They've already started in the Milwaukee area, with most of the stores already rebranded. A last note, I finally found myself a NES top-loader system! Got it with two controllers!
  14. It wasn't Rush 2049, but it was an Atari game. I'm almost positive that the game that you are talking about was Vapor TRX. It uses the 3DFX chipset, and it has all of the features that you have mentioned. You can read about it here.

  17. Not quite sure which Aladdin we are referring too. There was both the Aladdin video game and the Camerica Aladdin game-enhanced. The first doesn't exist to my knowledge... The second was a rare attachment that, for some unknown to me reason, has not yet caught on with collectors. Not too long ago, there was someone selling these for ~$250.00 with all 8 or 10 or whatever games. I thought about picking one up, but since I really don't collect NES stuff I opted not too. They are kind of interesting. Basically, the Aladdin "enhancer" just puts the common chips into one peice, and then the game carts with the actual games on them plug in behind it. The concept was that the games could be produced much cheaper if they didn't have to continually produce the same EEPROMs.
  18. I looks very interesting, and I don't think it was too bad of a purchase. The one thing that I have to question is why does an Atari developer (for any company) have EEPRROMs from Atari released games, Activision released games, Apollo released games, etc.?
  19. The GOAT Store made itself a big wooden box to hold them. It perfectly fits 10 rows of about 50 games apeice. Of course, this is way more than what you are looking for, but I would suggest making a box for yourself. Put everything in alphabetical order and then arrange it into the best box you can make, measure the sides and make yourself a box with the same dimensions.
  20. Kiss would've been good... if it had decent control. It doesn't. If you've got a local Best Buy around you, pick up Unreal Tournament for $10.00 new before they are all out. It isn't a one-player game with missions, but it is a blast as a FPS.
  21. Not hated. Just thought of as the oddball YESSSSSSSSS! That game is incredible! Take a solid platformer, throw in a bunch of minigames and make the game really hard to navigate, but easy to continue! I have had my Nintendo on with this game in it for HOURS. I once collected all but three things, but then I gave up. Awesome, awesome game though. My freakiest game award goes to Alien Vs. Predator for the Jaguar. I would always turn off the display and turn up the sound loud for full effect. Then I would sit in the basement at night playing the game. After flipping off the couch onto the floor twice because of it, I turned it off and haven't been able to talk myself into playing it since...
  22. Thanks, liquid_sky! (*pats on back...*) We're even now, right? To be honest with you, the Saturn version is good, but if you have the Jaguar version you have the best version. In my opinion, there are two major gameplay downfalls to the Saturn version that are "correct" in the Jaguar version: 1) The spikes are much harder to clear away. I don't understand this change at all, as the spikes were not this hard to get rid of in the original Tempest. 2) The AI droid is devoid of all of it's "I". It is not intelligent at all. In the Jaguar version, you can leave the AI droid to take part of the board so you can concentrate on another part. This AI droid sits in one spot and doesn't really go after anything, where the Jaguar's AI droid actually goes after the baddies. I also like the original music from the Jag version, but the Saturn version has the exact same Tempest 2000 Soundtrack tracks, so it is still quite good. After all that having been said, I do have to say that Tempest 2000 for the Saturn is still an extremely solid and enjoyable release and one of my personal favorites for the Saturn.
  23. quote: Originally posted by Jet Boot Jack: I don't want to escalate any "argument", I have no hard figures to point to, but Nintendo sold the SNES & N64 at a loss until sales of maufacturing etc made the hardware cheaper to produce... If the GC is not being sold slightly undercost I would be AMAZED - certainly at launch it cost more than $199 to actually make... I don't think we are arguing, we are just having a friendly conversation. Hope I didn't sound confrontational... Anyway, I have some magazines around here somewhere where Nintendo talked about how proud they were to bring out the N64 for $199, and they were asked if they were going to be taking a huge hit in hardware losses, and they said that they actually were making money on it. Recently, they have stated that they are indeed making money on the GameCube hardware. If I get some time, I'll dig up the quotes
  24. quote: Originally posted by ATARIPITBULL: Hey Goat Dan do you have any of those Defender 2000 cd sound tracks for sale on your site? I looked but I could not find any. No. Check out JaguDome's sound section. All of the tracks that were supposed to be on the Defender soundtrack are there.
  25. Personally, I think that as an enticement to get a GameCube, they'll drop some of the prices relatively soon. Nintendo had the All*Star lineup (007, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, WaveRace and... that might be it) that came out about a year into the N64's life. Dreamcast had a series like that too.
