  1. Hello everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone on these boards has one of the GOAT Store's JAMMA Joysticks. If you have one, what do you think of it? Is it useful? If you don't have one, what would make you consider buying one more? Would you get one for another system? Specifically for the Sega Master System or Odyssey 2? We're thinking about expanding upon the line up a little bit, but we put a lot of time and effort into making each one. We just want to make sure that the originals are holding up well! Here are the two pictures of them that we have right now (we need to take new full sized pictures, as those seem to be gone.) Thanks!
  2. quote You don't sound like an idiot at all. If you got one without knowing anything about it, then you would be an idiot Anyway, to attempt to answer your questions, first of all do you have an arcade machine that you would be putting the board into? If not, might I suggest going to a Super Auctions auction if at all possible. Even if you don't go to bid on a game, familiarize yourself with the games, their god-awful size and all that stuff. You probably don't want to be getting yourself an arcade PCB without a game to put it in, as it will only sit around and look pretty otherwise. If you are getting a machine, I would suggest getting a JAMMA machines to start with. JAMMA PCB boards are interchangable and there are a ton of them for pretty cheap. Non-JAMMA games tend to be more expensive, as their insides are not as easily repairable. To answer your questions: Yes, game PCBs do deterioate over time as anything does. Most of these PCBs were made as cheaply as possible and some of them will die out. Luckily, they can be fixed in most cases. Playing the game a lot will deterioate the board quicker, but not playing the board basically renders it useless (why would you buy one to look at?) Basically though, board deterioation isn't a big problem and it shouldn't stop you from purchasing a board or a machine if you want to. Only space restrictions, moving restrictions and repair knowledge should. And you can always learn with the knowledge!
  3. Hey everyone, The GOAT Store is kind of doing a spring cleaning, so we're selling off a bunch of odds and ends that we have such as those broken Magnavox Odyssey 2 systems I keep linking too. Anyway, we have some arcade game items that we're looking at selling, and I thought that I would let everyone on here take a shot at them first. If you're interested, email me at [email protected] with your offers. We'll do exact shipping. I can also send you photos if you would like to see everything. We have: Large coin mech This came off a generic cabinet, but it is rather nice. It is all in one part including coin hopper and double coin mechs. Mat Mania game with everything This also came out of that generic cabinet. It has everything that you would need to put this into another machine. We are almost positive that it works, but the machine that we pulled it from had a blown screen and I'm not going to rip apart one of my JAMMA's to find out if it works. It definately registered coins, all button presses and made noises for everything. With it comes the control panel, harness (in kinda rigged condition -- I didn't do it!), marquee and plexiglass if you want it. The plexiglass was cut to meet the rather small machine that the game was in, and in my opinion is pretty useless but if you want it... The only things that you need for this to work would be a cabinet and a coin mech. Stern Pinball Lamp Driver 76-84? We have a Bally/Midway machine from 1985 and we bought this because we were told that it was a Bally board. It is not. It is a Stern board. It is in kind of crappy condition too (some of the pins are slightly bent), but supposedly it works. Qix control panel We have another old Taito cabinet that was converted to a JAMMA cab, and we bought this so that we could swap control panels if needed. I never got a chance to modify it, and now we've got another upright so it is kind of useless to us. It has some bad damage to it, but with a new control panel overlay and some of that stuff, it should be fine. That is it! If you are interested in either the Qix control panel or the Stern Pinball Lamp Driver, I am going to insist on sending you pictures of them so that you know exactly what is wrong with them. Also, we are not expecting large sums of money for any of these, so if you're interested give me an offer If I don't have anything by Monday night, I will probably start listing them on eBay.
  4. quote If you go to Best Buy, you can pick it up for $20 if they have any left. If not, Gamestop for $25 is the next cheapest I have seen. Anywhere else is $30. It seems to be quite fun, but I've been too into the Bass Fishing and Marine Fishing games lately to notice! My dad has, for the first time since the 2600, sat back down to play video games! Ahhhh the Dreamcast.
  5. Adrian, Why in the world do you have to come into a conversation where you could've provided some useful input and instead try to rip on me and make a general nuisance of yourself? Let me ask you some questions -- Why am I "wrong in just about every respect"? If you review my statement that you conviently posted into your message, you'll notice that the only thing that I stated is that the Christmas Nights Sampler did not come with it, something which you also stated in your response. Why do you have to put quotes around "selling"? With the exception of your blatent slandering of us on the other page, we have never had a dissatisfied customer.
  6. Or their Web sites could simply link right up to the place that does their shipping, calculate what the exact shipping rates should be and then give the purchaser the option of which one he wants to choose. Then again, not every Web site is the GOAT Store! (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)
  7. Yes and no. Yes, it can be done but not very easily. I haven't ever seen one, but I know that it can be done by using a lot of electronics knowledge and parts. The reason why it isn't really done is that arcade monitors are cheaper for what they are used for. Remember, most of these games are still arcade games first, and collectible games second
  8. Okay, at this point I feel like tossing in some more. Sauron definitely got me on one of them I forgot under $10.00, Jet Set Radio! Other games I love -- Hoyle Casino Hydro Thunder Dead Or Alive 2 Midway Arcade Classics V. 1 + 2 Namco Museum Smash Pack V. 1 NFL 2K series NHL 2K2 Bomberman Online Resident Evil series Dino Crisis Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2 Bust A Move 4 Stupid Invaders Crazy Taxi 2 Soul Caliber Rush 2049 Virtua Tennis 2K2 In my mind, there aren't too many truly poor Dreamcast releases and most of them are so cheap now that it is incredible. Happy gaming!
  9. There are so many good Dreamcast games out there, it is amazing. I'll just give you a few you can find for $10 or less to get you started... Virtua Tennis - Great Tennis game. Dead on controls. Wow! Unreal Tournament - Need I say more? Check your local Best Buy! Sega Marine Fishing - I cracked open this game for the first time on Easter Sunday for the relatives, and the whole family has been fishing since. I picked up a Fishing controller yesterday for $12.99, and it makes the game that much more fun... NBA 2K1 - If you are like me and love basketball, but can't play the real thing very well do to crummy knees, this is the next best thing. The gameplay is so tight, it is incredible! And if the real-life Bucks don't hold up to expectations this year, at least I led my NBA 2K1 Bucks to the Finals and won it! There are some other more expensive games that are great, such as Tony Hawk 2, Mars Matrix, and Crazy Taxi 2, but I would start with the cheaper stuff and get bigger. Make sure to check your local Best Buy, as they have been dumping lots of Dreamcast stock for $4.99, $9.99 and $19.99 apeice. Great stuff!
  10. Rhindle, Your description of the controllers is just about exactly what I used to think of them. The more that I play the GameCube though, the less that I like the controller to play the 'modern' games that I like. Games such as 2D fighters really need more buttons that are of equal sizes, in my opinion. Not saying that Super Monkey Ball isn't one of the best games to come out for any system in a long time I honestly have to say that Metriod Prime looks very intriguing, however I don't think that I could bring myself to use the GameCube controller to play a FPS. Much like how I don't think that the XBox controller fares well with Halo. Personal opinion, quite obviously as most people are enthralled with Halo. The controller is probably the biggest part of a system to me (it is the sole reason why I have never really gotten into the Playstation -- I don't find the controllers comfortable) and none of the current "next generation" systems have controllers that I really like Then again, not spending money on them can be a good thing...
  11. quote Cool. I'll change it's price to $45.00 later tonight and generate the pages again. quote My thoughts were that it was the Virtua Cop / Virtua Fighter 2 / Daytona USA pack-ins that came with some of the systems, but then why in the world is it a "Sampler"? I have the Sampler Christmas NiGHTS, but that didn't come with it... liquid_sky, just email me at [email protected] and we'll work something out with the RF / AV cords.
  12. You don't sound dumb. I think that RCA cords is actually what they are called. I'm in the habit of calling them composite cables because that is what the Jaguar calls them... Anyways, yes. We have some of those :-)
  13. Agent X, I'm just curious. I played Bloody Roar: Primal Fury for a long time th other day at one of the area Funcola... *ahem* GameStop. Were you using a different controller for the game, as I found the game to be nearly unplayable with the original GameCube controller. How do you feel that the one-button control scheme works out? I've clocked about eight hours on various GameCubes so far, and I have only felt "at home" with Waverace Bluestorm.
  14. Would an C-composite cable do? I have a bunch of those sitting around.
  15. Odyssey 2 to play? Well... if you want to fix them up first (* GOAT Dan plugs self *) One Cent for Two Odyssey 2's (but they are broken....)
  16. quote Only if Atariken64 wants it without the RF switch and with AV hookups instead. If you need one, I'll keep my eyes peeled with out incoming packages. Of note, I have no clue what the "Video Game Sampler" sticker is all about on the Saturn, as it didn't come with one... does anyone else know?
  17. All righty, here you are! A Second View A Third View As you can probably see in "a Second View" the box has a little bit of damage, but not too much.

    River Raid poll

I own a copy of River Raid II, and I can honestly say that I don't understand what they mean by this quote: "A lackluster sequel to River Raid was released a full six years after the original and long after the Atari 2600 was in its prime." The second game is better than the first game in every possible way!

  20. Just thought people may be interested in some CD-i games, 3DO games, Magnavox Odysseys or whatnot. Probably adding more tonight, too. If you're interested, check at the link below! http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?...serid=goatstore
  21. Oooo. I'm going to start the fourth subject on this 'ere board! Cool! Just thought people may be interested in some CD-i games, 3DO games, Magnavox Odysseys or whatnot. If you're interested, check at the link below! http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?...serid=goatstore
  22. For everyone sticking up for Adrian and saying that he is a great guy, I want to point one of his other posts in other forms... In NOW I AM PISSED!, quote: I still can't believe you worked at a HOTEL of all places!!! A vast majority of HOTEL workers are usually high school dropouts. But then again....hmmmm I'm sorry, but anyone treating other posters like this with no reason has _no_ right to post on a board like this. It doesn't matter if I just came here and went onto any board and started making comments like this or have been here for ages, there is no excuse for this.
  23. quote GameCube? Bleck. Playstation 2? Bleck. XBox? Bleck. Can't say I'm a fanboy of any of the current consoles. I just thought that GameFAX was extremely funny (as all console wars are) and I thought that I would point it out here because quite honestly, Adrian has brought this upon himself. I need not remind everyone that he has a history of being kicked off of forums for not stopping talking about the XBox. Super Monkey Ball looks entertaining, but I can't play games with the GameCube controller. Dead Or Alive 3 looks great, but nothing that I would spend $300 dollars on. Nothing Playstation related has ever made me really take too much notice, other than a few games for the original. Currently, the Dreamcast, Jaguar, 2600, NES and SNES have me so tied up I'll probably never get a new console.
  24. Don't worry, Adrian M isn't the only one too feel this way. Look at what the GameFAQs site has done to commemorate the best gaming system EVER! Check out this review! Kabuki Warriors (Xbox): This has got to be one of the all-time best games I've ever played. I love the graphics, the storyline is quite simply the best I've ever seen, and the incredible control makes it feel like you're not just playing the game; you're living the game. A must buy for anyone who loves video games, and even those that don't! More reviews here -- Game FAQs
