  1. I listed the ways in which I disliked mobile games. I did this in such a way that focused on the games themselves, not the Amico (I'm in this thread to discuss mobile games. I generally don't join Amico threads). You threw a blanket disagreement over it and said I should try the games for myself. This is, in my view, a variation on "Just wait, you'll see". I would be happy to PM you an address, if your offer is sincere.
  2. Tommy, you're not the first wannabe console magnate to dismiss valid criticism with "Just wait, you'll see." Simple as that. From what I've seen of the Amico, nothing interests me. If you'd like to change my mind, you're welcome to give me the chance. I say "give" because by no means do I plan to spend money on it. I can provide a shipping address, if you like.
  3. This is EXACTLY why I don't buy the "it's not fair if we can't fill all the orders at once" jabber. There is NO business reason to not fill any orders you can once the product is ready. This is bad for the customers, and it's bad for l'Atari. The only people getting anything out of it are YouTube reviewers reaping those sweet, sweet clicks.
  4. It's going to be "made even better" by the wait. Because those boxes will improve so much sitting in a warehouse.
  5. It'd be hilarious to juxtapose the report of factory workers using calipers to line up USB ports, with the inevitable articles complaining about how the OS keeps crashing and the board overheats when it tries to run Tic-Tac-Toe.
  6. I'm still not entirely sure how many of their backers, if any, they plan to ship these units to.
  7. When your "demand" barely rates above four digits, and you can't keep up with it... that's nothing to be bragging about, Charlie.
  8. Well, then you get into a whole other issue well beyond the scope of this thread: Amico was pitched as being an exclusively family-friendly system. Supposedly, no games will be released that aren't available for all ages. That does leave a lot of money on the table, though. Are you going to be able to build a viable platform while deliberately NOT selling some of the most popular games? Yes, I'm sure Rod and Todd will be glad to buy Elmo's Party Games for $7, but are they going to buy enough edutainment titles to counter NOT having popular street fighting and FPS games?
  9. Nintendo isn't leaning on mobile ports, either. If you took that segment out of their game library, the marquee titles would be untouched. Likewise, it seems whatever gatekeeping they do on their e-shop has set the bar at least moderately high. The parallels to the Amico are minimal.
  10. Indeed. I'm trying not to compare the Amico too directly to the Switch, because it's obvious the former isn't even playing the same game, much less in the same league.... but one can't ignore that this isn't the first time these issues have come up in a gaming platform.
  11. And that is, of course, the point of this thread... to look at how mobile games fare in the transition to the Amico. It does work reasonably well on the Switch, but it seems that the mobile games that wind up on switch were designed to use a traditional controller... or at least, not designed to be over-reliant on the multitouch screen.
  12. I'm convinced this is yet another scheme to boost the stock price a little bit. Announce a feature no one wants, that costs nearly nothing, consumes no resources, and has all the applicable buzzwords. Truly, I don't think getting actual people to buy this was ever a thought.
  13. The point I was making, was that the Amico is not going to set a trend in control schemes. Other consoles are not going to copy it, as it's not going to be seen as an improvement over what already exists.
  14. What blows my mind is that people invest fortunes in things like Atari hotels, which are certain to be massive failures... and average people with practical, innovative ideas can't get a few grand together to start themselves off on the right foot. The guy who is a day late and a dollar short gets shafted. The guy who sinks the whole company never has to worry about missing a meal.
  15. D-pads Function in 8 directions, And have some form of Chross shape to them. You can't call that thing at the pad in any meaningful sense of the wordAnd have some form of Christ shaped to them. You can't call that thing at the pad in any meaningful sense of the word
  16. The Intellivision disc control is an evolutionary dead end. It's Never going to see any main stream support, Particularly anything outside the amigo ecosystem. Whatever happens with the amigo will be all you ever see from that concept.
  17. I think comparing the design of the controller, relative to other known-good designs, has value. More so than polls, but less so than actual usage.
  18. Because people like the controller, it's probably a good fit for the games? Huh? I mean, I like the N64 controller. That doesn't mean it's a good fit for any given game. Ergonomics aren't a matter that gets decided by a poll.
  19. No, you didn't say that. Please excuse me. I respect the idea of it being usable in multiple orientations, but to me, that's negated by the fact that it looks horribly unergonomic in any of them.
  20. If there are, I'm Guessing like the rest of his videos, the good stuff happens in the first 30 seconds, and he spends another 15 minutes just flopping around.
  21. The OP was asking about the mobile ports. The fact that those are only a percentage of the overall Amico Library doesn't negate that, nor does it mean you can unilaterally redefine the topic. I'm glad you like the controller. I really don't, so I don't have much more to say about it.
  22. ...even though you just said there wasn't much to talk about?
  23. It was a fair question. If you don't wish to discuss it, that's your prerogative. And no, I do not believe the Amico's controller would be good for a Bomber Man clone. That's a strong preference for a d-pad, joystick, or considerably more traditional layout.
  24. I wouldn't exactly make this controller an argument in favor if playing these games on an Amico. The OP stated, matter-of-factly, that there are going to be mobile ports on the Amico. The percentage of the library was not part of their overall point. I've seen nothing shown (among the hours of footage revealed by the Amico team) that these games represent hidden gems from the mobile market, nor any sign that they would port particularly well. You're free to disagree on that point, but I think it's safe to say that the game library has to make a convincing case with the potential buyers, rather than the buyers having to justify the games.
