Before I get there, I took apart my CX-40 last night and gave it a facelift. I took the white plastic joystick out and poped out the plastic boot, and cleaned all the crud out of there and put it back together and now it looks all pretty again!!!
Anyway!!!!! I was looking through my little "1983 Atari Catalog- Your Ticket To The Atari Stars" this morning and saw something I've never seen, or seen talked about in this forum. Says here, "2600 Voice Commander- State of the art game play with voice activated controles!" Has anyone ever seen or heard of these? Has anyone ever used them? If so, how do they work?

Water on a motherboard? IMO, doesnt sound like a good idea. Just the thougth of electronics and water. This is still a good way of thinking, even if it doesn't matter with the 5200. Some electronics have capacitors that can discharge even when they're unplugged. (I've heard of a few people being zapped by television repairs.) If you don't understand the electronics of a specific device and haven't gotten trustworthy advice from someone who does, steer clear of mixing your electronics with conductive liquids.

Thank you jbanes!!

Well I do like Grand Theft Auto, but Im really into HERO right now. To bad I only have it on the emu!
Asked for it for my birthday though, I think? -
For me, it was about a year ago. And it was for the first time, too, not again. When I was a kid, the big thing was NES games. And after buying games with childhood memories (Jeopardy Jr., Pin-Bot, Tetris, Super Mario Bros. 1,2, & 3), I decided to see what else there was in terms of vintage video games. Well, I went to the used video game store one day about a year ago, and there sat an Atari 2600 with about a dozen games for $50. Not knowing much about Atari, just that it was before the NES, I bought it. And now I have 50 games for it, but finding new ones seem to be impossible in my city. See, I was born in November 1982, so I guess that makes me one of the younger people on the board. When I was about 6 or 7, there was no choice for my parents but to buy me an NES. I mean, they could have got me a Sega Master System, but who cares about that? By the time I was interested in video games, the 2600 was almost out, and I don't think my parents even saw a 7800 in the stores. And then for my birthday in 1991, they bought me a SNES. And for my birthday in 1996, they bought me an N64. And for my birthday in 2001, guess what I bought with my money? A Gamecube. So it's basically been Nintendo my whole life up until recently. I started expanding my horizons with Atari and a Sega Genesis. I also want a PS1, too (OK, laugh.) And apart from the 50 Atari 2600 games and the 20 Genesis games, I have about 230 Nintendo games for each different system (except Virtual Boy.) I want more Atari games, and I'm growing more and more desperate as each shop doesn't have any. I wish my stupid town had more flea markets.
Im 13, gonna be 14 next month.

Cool!! Good for you Chris!!
And in case anyone wanted to know, I was helping clean out my grandmother-in-laws (lol) basement. It was in the corner all covered with crap. Sp I started to move things around and really got a good look at it. There were 15 games that were with it. So I moved it out to the garage and started cleaning it off. And there we go, thats how I met you guys on this board. If it wasnt for the Vader in her basement, I never would have know this site existed.

Oh sorry. Thanks Brian.

Maybe when you pulled it out of the box on Christmas morning? Maybe when you got it for your birthday? Well why did you pull it back out of the closet? hy did you decide do get into the world of Atari once again?
Thought it would make a great question and conversasion. -
What is a supercharger?
-
Unfortunately, Massachusetts doesn't seem to have much in terms of thrift stores, as I can never find anything. The only time I saw something was at a Goodwill store, and that was Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Even on the Eastern side to huh? Over here in Western MA, we have NADA!!!

-
Could someone explain what a supercharger is?
-
No, not that I know of. I think they just did the whole concrete thing from the start. Eathier way its a very odd turn of events.

Yeah Pac-Mans bad. But I just got used to it. Dont really play it any more.

-
Ok. Just thought I should check before doing it again. Thanks Shawn.
-
Well yeah, well nevermind. Just thought I may mention it just for the hell of it.

O ok. Yeah make sure you let all the little holes and that stuff dry out. I have a funny story, one time when I didnt let it dry.......................well I'll save this for another time.

I ask this because I put my cart and manual in a small zipper top vinal/plastic bag to transport it this morning, and I stuck my hand in there and felt all the static electricty. Can this damage my/our carts in anyway?

-
I try to play everyday, but I get to lazy to unplug the cable, and screw on the adapter, I need to get one of those switchboxes that you plug the tv into and then the source and Atari. Can you get these at radio shack? How much are they?

It just came to me. I was sitting here looking at my Spider Fighter cart. I thought maybe I could start a fan club. Someone would have to help me with newsletters, if we wanted to put one out. I really dont have any details yet. What could be done, if there was a perk to joining, just dont know yet. Let me know if you have any ideas or if you want to help me out. I know this is kind of odd, but I thought it would be a great idea, if we could get things ironed out.
