  1. No one made a thread about the Playstation Anyway the Playstation or known as PSX, PS1 released in NA on September 9th 1995 Going on to sell 102.49 million in it's lifetime The Best Selling Game on it is Gran Turismo, 10.85 million shipped Over 8,000 Game Released World Wide for it In the 90's I was in too Fighting, Racing Games, Missing much of the Libaray, But I do have most of the Good Ones My Top 10 Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Castlevania Chronicles Street Fighter Alpha 3 Gran Turismo 2 Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo Crash Banicoot R-Types Mortal Kombat Trilogy Doom Final Doom What's yours?
  2. i have a playstation 1 that could do with a capacitor kit, the only problem is that everywhere i have looked so far that deals in retro computer hardware do not stock kits for sale. Getting a kit from console5 or ebay (seems to only be a us seller on there selling them) i do not feel happy with. Once you have paid for the parts and extremely overpriced shipping and then ridiculous import tax on top, it makes this a particularly sour option for uk residents, paying $60~ at least for a set of capacitors is absolutely ridiculous! So im after a source in the uk, does anyone have any sources other than say rs or farnell, i would prefer not to do the research if purchase capacitors in their individual form, i would prefer a kit for x board.

  4. I tried getting GRP0 and 1 to work but I couldn't. I have to ask. Anyone know what the heck is going on? It's supposed to be the player from the Collect tutorial (a human) but it gives me a huge filled-in square. I think it's acting like the values of GRP0 and 1 are 255 but I don't know why. burger2.asm
  5. PlayStation - was anyone else impressed with the later revised consoles? I mean, I know they would follow a few years later after many revisions and better implementation, reduction of the chipset etc. basically, improved technology and yet I was pretty impressed with the smaller original PlayStation but man, with the mini slim version of the PlayStation 2? I couldn’t believe how tiny that thing was! 😮😎😍
  6. Hi all, The fan on my FZ-1 has gotten so loud I have to turn the volume on my AV receiver way up just to hear game audio. I’ve read that some modders used to offer a Noctua fan mod but sadly no one seems to anymore. So I’m considering just disconnecting it. Anyone tried that? I know that some FZ-1 revisions don’t even have a fan to begin with. Plus, I have a Mnemo USB board installed so there is no optical drive. Any thoughts on this? Thank you, mario
  7. This is something I'm working on in last 3 weeks, or better said in last 13 years. So, putting all those hard disk adaptations which I released in last 13 years, and are available on 8bitchip site. There are diverse images with plenty of games online. This one aims most of games on small storage size. Yes, that's 1 GB - as limit of Basic ACSI hard disk protocol, or as limit of internal ACSI-SCSI adapter what was by factory in Atari Mega STE and Stacy. In those times that was pretty large capacity. Of course, today it's far from being impressive or expensive, but still, for Atari SW it is plenty of space. So, I worked on putting as much as possible games (hard disk adapted, installable) in 1 GB partition - yes, that's possible with my iTOS. Knowing that it will need some changes by older game adaptations. Changes are done with common files D15R*.FIC - which are some kind of DLL files. For easier usage, I included them with every game DL. But there is simple way that all it can access it from one location: C:\GAMEX - what is mentioned in instructions too. So, if disk space is tight, users just can delete it from game's DIR, and it will be loaded from that System DIR. And it is same with files HAGA, HAGE ... Can save plenty of space, like over 100 MB in case of 1300 games. I copied games with removed those above mentioned D15R*, HAGA and like files into single 1 GB partition. And after did it for about 70 % if was clear that will not fit more than 1250 (rough estimation) . While sum of all file sizes, when all it is copied in is not over 850 MB. Why ? Because so called slack - FAT filesystem (FAT16 in case of hard disks) means that there is minimal size what some shortest, short file will take on drive - and it is in this case 16 KB - like for 1 byte long file. And that means a lot in case if Atari SW, where we have lot of short files. Btw. it is less with smaller partitions, so it is 8 KB in case of 256-511 partition under iTOS, or 128-255 MB under regular TOS 1.04-4.02 . So, I decided to try with 4x 255 MB partitions. And it worked - much more fits. Actually about 1350 games. That's not all what is on DL page (little over 1400), but I discarded very long variants (like Xenon 2 with audio tracks (32 MB), some older not so compatible ones ...) . That minimal size is called cluster, and is 4 KB instead 16 KB with 4x smaller partition size - gain is about 150 MB in this case. It looks like: And I used possibility to give custom drive names - here obviously they are composed of begin letters of file name DIRectories. Total 27 (letters + 0 for those starting with number) . And there is some free space in each partition for state saves. Hey, where is letter F ? This is done in Steem Debugger, where F is GEMDOS drive, so G is letter for fourth logical drive. On real Atari it will be F . For those who already got iTOS from me here is DL of not complete image: http://atari.8bitchip.info/TestMe/Gamit4pFin1.zip 166 MB. Only last partition. 369 games. Works with all decent ACSI adapters on ST, STE (no TT, Falcon support), Steem with Pasti, Hatari . Even if partition sizes are only 255 MB it needs iTOS - only with it it all fits in 1 GB space (planned 1350 games) . And there are updated DLL like files for it in C:\GAMEX . Some may ask: why iTOS ? Look upper 1 line. Beside it, this was needed to be done 3 years after solving real FAT16 in iTOS - now old game adaptations using TOS 1.04 GEMDOS part in RAM are compatible with iTOS and it's more efficient partitions - it is now actually iTOS core in RAM. Plus, this was good chance to finally put together image with all those D15R*, HAG* system files present only in shared DIR, according to original idea, and to my rational attitude 🙂 Final image will be DL-able soon at MediaFire.

  9. For those of us that were on the Playstation Communities, Bubsy Forever was probably the bigger of the message threads you could be on to talk about the Bubster. Run by Artemus311 the messages take us through the events of Bubsy from November 2017 to March 2021. In it, Bubsy fans shared the excitement of playing Bubsy Woolies Strike Back and Paws on Fire, along with talk of other media, movies, other fun tangents. Earlier this month Sony announced that the Playstation Communities will be discontinued in April 2021. So you still have a few days to get on there and leave a message for the other Bubsy fans. In the meantime, just in case, the Bubsy Fan Blog remembers that pawsome Bubsy hangout with the attached screen shots of that place. 10. My Lynx Model 1 has the middle third of the screen dark, so I'm looking for a replacement. The McWill and Bennvenn kits both look super nice, but I was considering keeping this Lynx stock, so was hoping someone might have a good LCD left from their own swap before I went that route. For the record, I did check with Best Electronics, and they only have LCDs for the Lynx 2, not the original model. Thanks for reading!
  11. Got a lynx 1 I've been working on pretty much all day at this point. Here is the basic issue with it: - Only works when input voltage is 8.8 - 9v from the battery or AC input section. If you go above 9.2v - 9.5v the Lynx will essential lock up and the current draw on my bench supply rockets to about 2A? - If you use the AC adapter (Measuring 14.5v without load), the lynx will not come up and. After a few seconds one of the RAM chips will be scorching hot along with the fet. Here is what I've done: - Replaced the ZD1 zener twice in case the first one wasn't working that I put in - Replaced the mosfet 2x in case the one I installed wasn't working right - Replaced both 3906 at Q4 and Q13. Q13 replaced twice because the first one developed a short internally when I first tested it from AC power. - Verified continuity with all the power stage components and with U6. No shorts found or breaks in the traces. I'm really stumped on this one. It will work with +5 sent straight to C39 to bypass the power stage and will read +4.87v at TP15 With the bench supply at exactly 9v the lynx comes up but I'm getting a reading of 8.3 - 8.5v from TP15 which, seems awefully high? It seems this Lynx is incapable of regulating its voltage properly. What else be sides the zener, fet, and 3906s is there that would control any of the voltage regulation?
  12. Was the first Evil Magician Returns ever released on cartridge?
  13. Howdy everyone! 😀 I was lucky enough to be able to pre-order a Bennvenn LCD kit for my Lynx 1 in the most recent batch, so am now on the hunt for someone to install it, as the soldering it requires is beyond my limited ability. So, I'm looking for recommendations/pricing for installers that others have used, whether they be businesses, forum members, etc. I would prefer to keep it to the United States due to the cost and time involved with international shipping. Thanks in advance for the assistance!
  14. Anyone have one of these? Is it worth it while I save for the Atarimax?
  15. file loader for .cas - like old "!" loader. two versions: 1. a regular fileloader in 1 block (no pause required - it can load a binary file immediately) also does not give a specific buzzer signal. This is probably the only one-block binary loader for a tape recorder. 2. similarly to the above, 3 block additionally can decompress ZX0 compressed files on the fly. Even this version is two blocks shorter than the old "!" On a standard tape recorder and standard speed, the Feud will now start after 9:32 instead of 15:41 (6 minutes earlier) of course, these are tests, I would ask you to check it on real equipment - unfortunately I do not have a tape recorder and I do not know if it really works 🙂 I don't use the CIO but the jump table, thanks to which I was able to fit the loader in one block. 16. These are being written to my SD card when I use the card to add files from my windows machine. These files are starting to proliferate, got two of them on my D drive, also, can't remove the folder although I can remove the contents. Wondering how this may be screwing up my file system on the US. Thanks
  17. Hi, I just finished building myself a multicart, following the very cool project by these French guys: http://zx81.zx81.free.fr/serendipity/index.php?/archives/522-ColecoVision-63-in-1-Flash-Cartridge.html I was able to successfully build the loader (after modifying some bits), assembled with all the roms and burned to PROMs. Now, if I run the multirom image in mame, everything works perfectly. This is a screenshot of the loader: I can browse the games, and upon firing, the correct ROM is started. But if I place the cart into my real Coleco (a French model), I get the following: The loader does actually work. I can scroll up and down (the left-most character moves accordingly), and upon firing the correct rom is started. But instead of a readable game list I just get mostly gibberish. The loader initialized the screen like this: disable_nmi(); screen_mode_1_text(); fill_vram0(0x2000,0x1800,0xf0); upload_default_ascii(NORMAL); paper(COLOR); enable_nmi(); cls(); screen_on(); While text is printed to screen with print_at() and center_string() calls. Am I missing something? Also, in the emu, upon resetting I get back to the loader, while on the actual CV, reset restarts the currently selected game, and I need to actually turn off and on again the CV to get back to the loader. Thanks for any suggestions!
  18. I found that these cheap NES knockoff pads work on the AFB1. It might be a cheap and fun replacement if someone needed controllers since it is an NESOAC system. I prefer them over the packed in mini 7800 sticks. They DO NOT work in other Atari Flashbacks or systems. 20. Aaaanndd.... we're back. This kicks off season 19 of the NES HSC. Thanks to everyone who posted game suggestions and voted. Fifteen regular season titles have been selected along with ten arcade titles. For the regular season I tried to pick mostly titles made for the NES over the arcade ports, but a couple of them still ended up on the list. All of the arcade titles have been posted and will be included in every regular season thread. See the NES Arcade section below for details. Please let me know if anything about this is unclear. In general this season, please put updated scores in a new post rather than editing a previous post. With the addition of the arcade games I think sifting through threads for edited scores will turn into a real chore. We're starting off this round with Batman, a popular choice. Please note that your score is only visible while the game is paused and is not accessible after the game is over. Therefore you'll need to pause the game before you lose your last life and take note of the score. 21. Dear All, 3.5" floppy drives that connect via USB to a modern PC are very common and I have some. However, it is impossible to find a 5"1/4 USB floppy drive. I guess there must be a good reason, which I don't know. However, I would really like to find one to take "raw" images of floppy disks, right there, on my Windows 10 computer. I haven't had a PC with these floppy drives for a long time (or I have old PCs in the basement somewhere and loose 3.5" & 5"1/4 drives). So, if anyone has an idea, a suggestion, how to find this kind of 5"1/4 floppy drive in USB for modern PC. Thanks in advance.

Starts of nice and easy. Fandal's ATR version is fixed and doesn't have the lock-up problem, though I suspect it might still have the eat yourself lock-up one [when you catch your tail - also do not eat a dot when it is right next to your body, when travelling vertically, after the speed change on level 6], but you can avoid that usually. Long time no play. Needs a good joystick. ESC=pause but don't use it on the new fixed ATR version, I left it for a minute and it locked up with flickering purple status bar. http://a8.fandal.cz/detail.php?files_id=2496 Info on Atarimania http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-nibbler_3694.html# File versions play ok but occasionally lock up. 24. Hello I got a very disgusting Intellivision console a couple months ago. It was listed as "for parts/not working." It was caked in fine dust, the controller buttons disintegrated, and probably had a bunch of other unfavorable characteristics. I cleaned it, reconnected the Main PCB and Power supply PCB with new wire, recapped and replaced the transistors. It works amazingly well. I returned to modify it to work with my System Changer a few nights ago but noticed that R23 and R24 don't exist - there's just a long trace beneath the RF modulator. There are some other noticeable differences on the main PCB layout. Also, hex-head screws are used to secure the internals instead of Philips pan-head screws. I found this interesting. Is this interesting? Also, should I attempt to modify it for System Changer use, and just ignore the part about removing R23/24? Thanks in advance.
  25. I'm a Playstation guy since the non-analog PS1 and the xbox controller feels strange to me. Just my opinion, its perfectly fine for everyone else. BUT that old xbox is fantastic as an emulation box. I started using Forcebox but I found I was constantly trying to remember what color button was in what position. Not ever having Xbox growing up its not second nature to me. I bought a bunch of PS3 button mod kits in the xbox button colors.. and it really helps... I sold one to this guy a while back and he made this video
