  1. Looking mostly for broken 5200 and 7800 consoles and controllers, but I will also buy broken 2600s if they come with either of the other two.
  2. I'm mass buying Atari 2600, 5200, 7800. In doing so I've ended up with some cartridges and cassettes for which I do not have a home. I'd like to trade them for most anything 2600, 5200, or 7800. This includes broken things as my students and I will fix them up. I have attached an image of what I have currently. I'm happy to take better pictures on request. I'm willing to part it out for good trades, but I'd love to let it go as a lot. We each pay our own shipping. If anything here is particularly valuable, please drop a reply to let me know. Thanks for reading 😊
  3. Wanted to trade CIB Fast Food 2600 for: Any PlayStation 1-4 rpg (that I don’t have) Any loose snes rpg (that I don’t have) Loose nes carts (that I don’t have) Or put the $50 (value) towards something u have Also looking for Sega cd console (and/or box) NES/Snes console boxes sms console box
  4. I need a NTSC TIA chip for my old and I cant find any anywhere! Please help!
  5. https://www.mobygames.com/game/atari-2600/frogger-ii-threeedeep I actually bought this loose cartridge a few months ago at a local retro video game store (Stateline video games). I bought it because I really like original Frogger, and I thought the price seemed decent for a rather rare game. (AtariAge rates it a 6). I plugged it in and gave it a try, without going online and reading the manual, of course. My initial thoughts were along the lines of "Well, this is weird and unplayable. But it will be a fun cart to have." Then it put it away and didn't really touch it for a while. I always try to participate in the High Score Club on Ferg's 2600 Game by Game Podcast Discord. Frogger II was the pick for January, so I was pretty excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, it's been a pretty busy month, and I didn't get much of a chance to play. (And I was also distracted by playing Ms. Pac-Man and Montezuma's Revenge for the 5200). But as we reached the end of the month, I decided I better get some time in so I could at least participate in the Club. After reading the manual, the gameplay made a lot more sense. (When will I learn?). And after a little time getting used to how it plays, I started really enjoying it. Now I think that this a fun and challenging sequel to Frogger, that I will definitely want to get out and play again in the future. I like how falling into the water/air on the higher stages drop you to the lower stage rather than killing you. Certainly makes more sense on the "Surface level" - which is essentially the single Frogger 1 screen. I guess we assume in Frogger 1 that if you fall into the water, the submarines get you. As of right now, my high score is 3,022. Actually, I think I did slightly better than that but didn't capture a screenshot because I was thinking my high score was higher. I'm going to keep playing it until the end of the month, although I have no chance of catching the other guys in the Discord. EDIT: It's also worth noting that that the 5200, 8-bit, and PC Booter versions of this game look worth checking out. The PC Booter version supports CGA composite mode, so also worth a look.
  6. An interesting article from the BBC on the maze generation of the game Entombed. It seems the researchers just don't understand how it works. I wonder if anyone here has looked into the code for this game? BBC Article here: http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20190919-the-maze-puzzle-hidden-within-an-early-video-game The publication from John Aycock and Tara Copplestone https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1811/1811.02035.pdf Entombed - An archaeological examination of an Atari 2600 game.pdf
  7. Thanks to all who participated in the 2022 Harmony Games as it was a slow season compared to previous seasons. and I'm sad to say its the official end of the Harmony Games as we know it. With new 7800 games being included into the Atari Homebrew Awards starting next season(which takes place a month after the Awards ends) I will be adding 7800 games to the HSC, with that we can no longer call it the Harmony Games,as it was called that after the harmony cart by @batari (Fred Quimby). So before I go into other changes for the new season I'm looking for an idea of names for it. So if you have any ideas for a new name for this High Score Club post bellow and around Feb before the Awards start I'll do a poll (here on Atari age, on Facebook and on AVC Online website(it will also be mentioned in mailchimp newsletter as well) the winning name will be announced at the start of the season. Now on to the Changes: First Change: Divisions Harmony Games Division- 2600 Hombrew games Concerto Games Division -7800 Homebrew games As normal the Harmony Division will start on the second Monday of the month after Atari Homebrew Awards show After the Harmony Division ends the HSC will take a month off. and then it returns with the Concerto Division also on the second Monday of the month Second change: Graphic Round dropped After major consideration we have decided to to eliminate the Graphics round this was because many times the winner of best graphics was also winner of best game(or didn't have a scoring system) and then we would have either go with second place or vote. By removing this round we can do more work with the winners. Third Change: rounds in Divisions Harmony Division will have 3 rounds: Round 1: Work in Progress (same as past Harmony games (Original games for normal points and Port games for bonus points) Round 2: Completed Original Games ( above 4k games for normal points and 4k and below for bonus points) Final Round :Completed Port Games (same scoring for Completed Original Games round) We decided to split the Original and Ports games to make it more simple for players to play instead having it together but still keeping the bonus play included as well. Concerto Division will have 2 rounds: Round 1: Work in Progress (same scoring as the Harmony division) Final Round: Completed Games ( same scoring for first round) Final Change: Submissions Besides submitting via Atari age, starting next year submissions can be done the following: Atari age via the topic as normal Facebook at the AVC Online facebook group (on the associated post for the the rounds) and via the form at AVC Online website. we added the two new submissions to bring in more players as there are probably not a lot of people who do Atari Age and it makes it more open and give more competition. As of now this HSC will only focus on 2600 and 7800 homebrews. and games can still be played either emulator or via a flash cart (Harmony for 2600, Concerto for 7800(or which ever one is available as there are few more coming out) on actual system. All games are based on winners of Atari Homebrew Awards and must have a scoring system to be used. if winning game doesn't have a scoring system poll for voting will be set up using the following: the game I vote for (I always look for the game that will be good in HSC) and second place winner. See you in 2023 (don't forget to post below what name you want to call the HSC) * btw I will start a second category for concerto division and keep this topic (Harmony games for harmony division)
  8. CollectorVision just announce that the ColecoVision FPGA console, the CollectorVision Phoenix, will also be launched with added Atari 2600 core, with more details coming soon. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/283794-collectorvision-phoenix-kickstarter-is-now-live/?p=4138644 See the Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1408938247/collectorvision-phoenix-an-fpga-colecovision-conso
  9. This is a scratchpad for some ideas I've had involving how to route audio and video from a CX-55 VCS Adapter in a 5200 with a UAV installed. First order of business: recap the current CX-55 and replace the voltage regulator. The video looks awful. The video looks awful when viewed via the 5200, which has a snow issue over RF that is likely in the modulator. If the modulator's in need of work to improve the 5200's video, then the same will apply to the CX-55's video. Next: build a circuit to power it and pull both audio and composite video directly from its edge connector. Need perfboard, a barrel jack (power), small toggle switch (power), and RCA A/V jacks. Cartridge port connector and A/V cable are already on hand. Everything is THT at 2.54mm. Current-limiting resistor / filter cap / both may be needed. CX-55 cartridge connector pins: 24 Composite Out 25 GND 26 +5VDC 30 Audio Out Alternative ground pins: 12, 13, 14, 23 Unregulated DC on pin 11 Pins 11 & 28 not connected (possible chroma / luma outputs?) Determine if audio / video levels are suitable for use without further amplification.
  10. Yes, Virginia, a UAV will fit in a CX-55. Disabuse yourself of the previously-held notion that it won't. A/V jacks may be a different matter entirely, so feeding out a cable (round or ribbon) with all of them connected to it may be necessary. This will involve drilling / cutting the case.
  11. Clearing out the basement and have the following in need of a good home. six switch CX-2600 made in Hong Kong "Atari-Wong" six switch CX-2600 made in Taiwan for Atari 2x 2600 joysticks, 2x 7800 joysticks, 2x driving controllers, 1 set of paddles, video touch pad three 9V wall warts (5W Telstar, 9W Atari CO10472, 10W Atari CO16353) Everything is untested because I don't have a switch box! Carts: Adventure, Air-Sea Battle, 2x Asteroids, Baseball, Berzerk, 2x Combat, Decathalon, Dolphin, E.T., Enduro, Frogger, Haunted House, Joust, Maze Craze, Moon Patrol (w/ box), Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man, Phoenix, Pitfall!, Pressure Cooker, Space Attack, Space Invaders, Star Master, 2x Star Raiders, Super Challenge Baseball, Tennis, Venture (w/ box), 2x Video Olympics, 2x Video Pinball, Warlords, plus mystery Activison & Coleco carts I suspect there's very little of value (and if there is - don't tell me). But if anyone is interested in the lot please send me a PM. Price: C$50 OBO + shipping or meet near Markham
  12. Hi everyone, its finally happened, I'm at the point where I'm ready to start unloading my collection. I wanted to give you guys the good folks at AA first crack at anything you might be interested in. This list contains something like 350 games, so unfortunately I'm going to start if off as a list with no pictures. These games are in various states of conditions, but assume the vast majority of them are working, have been played by me personally, and are usually in PAL UK version where applicable. Some of the older stuff like the master system might be Japanese or US copies, but generally is not an issue. If I own it, I can play it on a European console, as that's my near exclusive limit (outside a neo geo AES - not being sold!). Some are boxed, some are not. Some have instructions, some do not. They are all unsealed, there is no Wata level quality here. I'm a gamer, and these games were played. Please PM for interest in items, I can send prices for those games with images of boxes, manuals and state of disk/cart. Use this topic for general queries. I might be able to do pictures of specific collections of things, but nothing is in an easy to view format right now other than this list. Some things I can do prices now, but the lists are far too big. I'll try and update with time if I can. Hopefully obvious, but my native country is England, United Kingdom, prices will be in GBP £££ but will happily convert to your local currency, and give you potential postage to your country - just let me know where you live! Big orders I will try to do free postage, but all orders will be tracked shipping. If you live in Manchester/Liverpool, Cheshire, Birmingham area, Gloucestershire or Wiltshire we can discuss potential dropping off/meet instead, but note I live in Cheshire. About 6 months ago I started this topic: This was me processing letting go of significant number of games. Soon after I put my house on the market, and bought my next one up. In the process this took a backseat - and initially I had boxed about 100 games I was "ready" in mind to sell. This has now increased to something like 350, including PC games (hence why I'm going to start with lists, then will do pictures as requested). A few other things have happened, the work on the house has cost us considerably more than we planned, and the profit from the first house has already emptied to 0. We also had our car break down on moving day, and this caused issues with our buyers which cost us more money. The car has now fully broken down and we have had to borrow money to buy a 'new' (and by new, I mean 15 year old!) car. This is a bit of a boo-hoo story I know, but it leads to me realising that I have boxes full of cash I just need to get rid of, and I might be able to pay off the debt at least. I would also like to make sure I can manufacture some more Odyssey 1 multicards which I was planning on doing this month, but due to car - needs potentially delaying. Anyway... onto the list. I think there will be another cull at some point, but this is "second wave" culling and includes games like Zelda that I thought I would never get rid of. I've decided to get rid of my entire collection of N64 games, but don't get excited most are unboxed and all are relatively common-uncommon. PC: I need to form a list of PC games but I have already divided some up into prices, these are mostly "big box" games, though a mix of CD and floppy disk. If anyone is interested I'll try and develop a list asap. DOUBLES: These are just doubles I have for sale, I won't be selling any other games for these systems (1st, 2nd and selected 3rd gen consoles) Magnavox Odyssey: Volleyball boxed and complete. I'll take £90 for it as someone on ebay is going for that much. Atari 2600: Would probably sell both these games for a £5 to get rid of it. Both loose. Pac Man (double) Pitfall (double, I don't think this works on all 2600 machines... rubbish label before you ask) Voltmace Database (This is a 1292 alternative system, there is an adapter to use it in more common formats like the acetronic system, but I'm not selling it!): Various games, many boxed with instructions £10 each, 2 loose with instructions, £5 each. Collections being sold off: These are 1st and 2nd wave removals from my collections, other than the N64 which I'm selling fully there may be other games on these systems I'm selling in the future. Stuff like Neo Geo, Atari, Amiga and Philips alongside 32x, Mega CD, 3DO and TG16 etc are currently intending to be kept. NES: Adventures of Bayou Billy, The Bubble Bobble Donkey Kong Double Dragon III - The Sacred Stones Dr. Mario Duck Hunt Excitebike Golf Iron Sword: Wizards and Warriors 2 Jack Nicklaus 18 holes Kickle Cubicle Lemmings Mission: Impossible Pac-Man Super Off Road (Ivan Ironman Stewarts) Super Mario Bros. - Duck Hunt Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles Zelda II - The Adventure of Link Sega Master System: Note some of these are US or Japanese carts, but work on PAL machines too. 13. Story: You are a goat stuck in a dungeon. Collect hearts, save goats, explore, and find the next level before cave-in! How to play: Use the joystick to move your goat. If you don't like the room or map, use the joystick to use explosives or the reset button to start over. If you don't like the color of your goat, press the select button. If you're stuck in/on a wall/cave-in too long, a buzzer will sound, then your goat may die. Explore rooms and levels of the goat dungeon and collect hearts and goats for points. Yes, you can go back and forth in rooms and the hearts and goats keep reappearing! If you stay in a room long enough, then it will start to cave-in. If you stay on a level long enough, it will really cave-in. goat_dungeon_0.9.bas goat_dungeon_0.9.bas.bin
  14. Hello all, I'm looking to modify my Hyperkin Ranger controller to make it fully compatible with all my 7800 games. It looks like all the pins are in use already. Can anyone give any suggestions on how to add a second fire button?
  15. March 19, 2019 news. Release Candidate 1 DK_Arcade_2600_RC1.bin I've decided to share "DK Arcade 2600" and post the Release Candidate. This has sound, item, color differences, along with a fixed Kernel that should eliminate any "flashing ghost playfield pixels" that appear when nearly cycle maximum and that some machines were displaying. The "latest batari Basic" version from RevEng's thread has this fixed kernel. Reply in this thread any comments and suggestions - they are all considered, no matter good or bad, or not possible to include! Thank you. It is also decided by me, the author, that any "Release" will be through this "batari Basic Forum Thread". If you expressed desire for a real cartridge in this thread, no need to post again. You will be contacted when I have finished cartridges available later in 2019 or next year 2020. Payment will only be taken when finish cartridges are available - made with AtariAge hardware. This was my first designed game, both because I liked the game, I liked the challenge, and I wanted to show that very good games can be made with the "batari Basic" DPC+ kernel. - iesposta ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 12, 2014 Two Demo binaries! You can now play as "The Lady" (created for the 2 women on AtariAge!). By popular demand, "The Carpenter" moves quicker up and down ladders. Fireballs descend ladders quicker. Alarm sound when timer falls below 1000. Numerous sound updates and bug fixes. Japanese order only (Levels 1, 2, 3 & 4) that end after Level 4. The title is a selection screen: Up, down, left or right selections. (Note: American selection defaults to Japanese order for these demos.) Remember to turn Phosphor Effect (Ctrl-p) on in Stella! DemoE = easy. As will be the first time though the levels. DemoH = hard. As will be the increased difficulty the next time through the levels. DK20141011BcDemoE.bin DK20141011BcDemoH.bin October 11, 2014 Second Demo Binary(s) soon! We have listened to comments and suggestions. I think everything done since the last demo has been an improvement in every area. Gameplay, graphics, sound and music, and options. List of "bugs" that probably are permanent "features": - Some odd TIA chips cause a few playfield pixels to blink. Does not affect gameplay. - Cement Factory level with hammer will show ghost garbage pixels when fireballs climb down due to Intelligent Flicker and virtual sprite vertical alignment. Does not affect gameplay. - Jumping to the left-most part of the center elevator (descending) player becomes unresponsive to joystick. Affects gameplay. -Jumping a fireball over a rivet can trap the fireball over the gap. One I had trapped later climbed thin air to the level above and started acting normally - except it was a few pixels below the girder. September 27, 2014 No binary, but we are still working on this! Latest binary directly below, in March 1. rem Note: 9-02-14 Made ditty1 note duration shorter, Opening longer, How High tune ends with harmony. rem Note: 9-09-14. March 1, 2014 DK23Arcade2600.bin Bug fixes for the demo: Ramp Level Mario shouldn't get stuck in girders any more. Overlapping barrels shouldn't sneak through the hammer any more. Increased barrel spawn timer to make the level a little easier. Moved hammer up and right on top level so you can't grab it from the level below and you can jump straight up and get it. Fixed Mario jumping bug that would kill Mario after 5 jumps in a row. Cement Pie Level Kong has less separation anxiety! Fixed ghosting of the tops of fireballs. Elevator Level Mario won't "fall" through girders on Elevator Level. February 19, 2014 There's a new DK in town called DK Arcade 2600, joining AtariAge member Joe Musashi's phenomenal D.K. VCS! This playable demo features all 4 levels in full-screen goodness, so check it out! Brought to AtariAge by members "Byte Knight" and myself, "iesposta." Binary: DK_Arcade_2600.bin The playable demo features all four levels but will end after the rivet level (Level 4). Let us know your thoughts and post your high scores! The release version will feature: Japanese and US level order. Difficulty level increases. The ability to play Mario or Pauline. Thanks to RevEng and Bogax for technical help, and Atari Brian for beta-testing. February 12, 2014 Update. - Dynamic titlescreen has 1 to 4 Stupid Monkeys on How High Can You Try? depending on level. - Bonus/Countdown timer has color. Score is 6 digits and white. - Spinning death sound created. - Japanese and American order selection (difficulty switch). - Flicker reduced on top of level 1 by adding 2 playfield screen lines and removing 1 line from The Lady, putting her 7 lines above the barrels. Notice I said reduced. It still flickers a lot but that is where everything happens at once. - Going "over cycles" fixed by adjusting Overscan time, adding scanlines. Currently stable at 270 lines. - Custom Score Font. (I know it looks like other games, but I did create each number to match the arcade game.) February 5, 2014 Let it spin, let it spin, let it spin. 16. I have a 2600 that won't come in on my TV. I have the RF plugged into an RF>coax adapter and into the (CRT) TV and when I turn it on the TV static goes wild but no picture. So I know it's getting power. I cleaned the game. I tried both channels 2 and 3 and even did a channel search but still nothing. Any suggestions? Could it be a bad adapter? I know the TV is fine because I just used an NES plugged with RF earlier.
  17. Made an homage to Birthday Mania with the same theme and similar gameplay. Good for very short sessions as it gets unfair fast. Happy Birthday! A game by Gemintronic, LLC Do not resell What better way to celebrate than snuffing out candles with a puff or even a hat! The title screen displays a message and shows the high score. Press FIRE to continue. Press FIRE to launch a puff into candles for 10 points Use LEFT or RIGHT on your joystick to maneuver your hat into candles for 8 points Press RESET to clear your score and return to the title Setting either difficulty switch to EXPERT (A) reduces your time and increases candle drop rate Your score is displayed bottom center on screen Each candle that drops off screen deducts time (represented top right from score) Your game is over once the time is 0. You can review your high score or press FIRE to try again. * Not every candle can be saved due to reach or bad luck * When catching with your hat any candles on the same row have a chance not not deduct time happybgeneric.bin hbmanual.txt
  18. A twist on the classic game of snake. You play a fun snake. Your goal is to keep moving while avoiding walls and running into parts of yourself. You can also eat yummy fruit for bonus points! This won't be easy as your body continues to grow and randomly disappear. And your snake keeps moving faster and faster! Can you survive the Snake Fiasco? Directions: Press the joystick button to start. Move the joystick to change the snake's direction. If the snake dies, use the reset switch or press the joystick button to start over. Use the select switch at any time to change colors. Left difficulty switch doubles frequency in difficulty change (speed and lessening of playfield disintegration) as the game progresses. Right difficulty switch halves the rate that the playfield disintegrates. Bonus for fruit is based on number of steps taken since fruit appeared. Every 31-32 fruit, the fruit is a bomb that clears the playfield. snake_fiasco_1.5.bas.bin snake_fiasco_1.5.bas
  19. An excellent and fun conversion of this game!
  20. 8 Tanks: a DPC+ (32K) game for the 2600 with Quadtari and four sets of Tennis paddles. (In theory, it should work with a Harmony cart, etc., and it works in Stella, but not in Javatari.) Important note: the Quadtari only supports the paddle buttons, not the knobs. (see Quadtari thread) This is a work-in-progress, and for now is just the tanks moving around and shooting without blowing anything up, so it's more of a demo until one of the next few releases. To configure game to play in Stella 6.7 (you may have to do this for each release): Highlight the game in Stella Options -> Game Properties -> Controllers -> Quadtari button Select Paddles for each of the four controllers Click Ok, Ok, then Close Start game and use these default keys to emulate paddle buttons to control the tanks via the default key mappings: space, 4, F, 6, shift-space, shift-4, shift-F, shift-6. Done: Can control and move 8 tanks If you leave the button unpressed, the tank spins slowly clockwise. If you press the button, the tank moves forward and fires. (Using alternating frames using alt coords swapping through temp vars, ball is shared between player0-1, missile0 is shared between player2-3, missile1 is shared between player4-5, player9 dot is shared between player6-7.) Sound when tanks shoot Colors, playfield, and tank placement similar to Tank 8 Playfield looks similar to that of Atari Tank 8 Projectiles stop when hit playfield Fixed some projectile bugs Planned: Collision detection for missiles hitting another player. 8 player scores. Alternating 4-player scores with color matching tank color. Blow up tanks when shot. Sound when a tank blows up. Some sense of game over (either some number of tanks per player or a time limit?). Note: time limit may be easier; it would only require a single indicator. Bug: some tanks shoot in the wrong direction for some tank positions. Bug: some tanks' playfield collision detection for projectiles doesn't seem to work. Not sure yet whether I should try to add: Slowing down (trudging) each tank when it moves over the playfield. (info on DPC+ colllisions) Note: If you want to compile it, DPCplus_kernel.asm in same directory extracted from bb-qt-DPCplus.zip in Karl's post with sample code for Quadtari support. 8tanks_0.5.bas.bin 8tanks_0.5.bas

  25. An attempt to play all the relatively in-tune notes in order for the audio control values listed in RT's bB Music and Sound Data Creation Toy. It also scrolls a musical note in the playfield. I may have made mistakes, but hopefully it's close. You can use the joystick left and right to change the tempo, fire to restart, and reset to fully reset. notes_dev.bas.bin notes_dev.bas
